As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Greetings, PassPorters!
Me, DW, BIL, DS (14), and DS (8) are going on a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We have MYW with Parkhopper.
We are scheduled for the 4 nights land and 3 nights sea package at WDW and DCL, and are driving there. Could I get some feed-back from our PassPorter community about the plans? I have tried to guess at the EMHs and plan accordingly (they have not been posted for all the parks, as yet). We are also planning to go back to the Poly during the hottest part of the day and relax / nap / swim and then go to possibly a different park in the PM. Here goes my first draft:
7/13 -- arrive at the Poly in the afternoon, then go to the MK at have the character dinner at the CP, watch the parade and then Wishes. Would in / outside the CP be a good place for all this? What time should I make the ADR for?
Then enjoy the EMH attractions at MK, if we choose.
7/14 quick in-room breakfast., then go to DHS (MGM) (AM EMH), lunch and swim at Poly, return to DHS for Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package dinner, with the early show (no PM EMHs) (does anyone have suggestions about driving to/from DHS vs taking the bus?).
7/15 Breakfast at Kona, then to MK for AM EMH, return to Poly to lunch and swim, then go to EPCOT in PM and have dinner at Rose & Crown just in time to watch Illuminations afterwards and then enjoy EMH attractions.
7/16 ‘Ohana character breakfast, then AK, CS lunch somewhere at AK, then a later return to Poly to swim, and go to the late seating for Spirit of Aloha, but since we are staying there, we won’t be up as late as if we weren’t.
7/17 Have a light or no breakfast in-room, pack up and drive to Port Canaveral and board the Wonder as early as possible and enjoy the pool and buffet there.
How does this sound for planning? Thank you! PassPorter Rocks!
Sorry that I can't answer any questions but..
I booked my ADRs before WDW posted their hours for the month and I had to rearrange a couple. One because the parade was an hour earlier than I estimated.
From what I understand it shouldn't be much longer for July to be out.
At TouringPlans.com they have an estimate for July (as of yesterday)
I like your plan for the Crystal Palace on the first night. I would wait and see what time Wishes in - and also if SpectroMagic is on that night, as you don't want to miss that before thinking about what time you want for an ADR. I would make sure you go for at least an hour and a half - probably longer - before Wishes, so that you're done with eating and have time to get a good spot to watch Wishes.
You're only allowing half a day at Epcot from what I can see - is that intentional? It doesn't seem very long there and you may not get to see some of the bigger attractions (Soarin', Test Track, Mission Space) if you're there later in the day, as all FastPasses will probably be gone for those by then. It's just something worth thinking about.
I'm hoping that we will have time and energy after Illuminations to experience the attractions that have PM EMHs. We did explore EPCOT a little when we went in 2005 and did not go to DHS at all. I am trying to maximize the value of a 5-day parkhopper while only having 3 1/2 days in WDW! Thanks for the feed-back!
I'm thinking about not doing the the two Character meals -- CP and 'Ohana -- to save some $$$. We are more CS/QS types anyway. There will be 4 adults and 1 child in our group. I think I'll stick with Spirit of Aloha and then ADRs for H and V for Fantasmic and the Rose and Crown for Illuminations.
Bring on the feed-back folks -- let me know one way or the other!
Thanks in advance!
My thanks to PassPorter and all the PassPorter.com Community!
I was able to get the dining and show reservations that I wanted for our trip (we arrive in 180 days), thanks to the advice I got (both directly and indirectly) from PassPorter and the forums! I am usually a go-with-the-flow, take life as it comes, kinda guy, but the planning assistance from you all has really helped me! My DW was threatening to hide my PassPorter because I was so obsessed with getting things just right, but now I can relax a little (and get her the 2008 PassPorter for DCL)!
Glad you got what you were looking for!
The only thing I see in your plan that is worht questioning is that you are only spending a half-day in Epcot.
I don't think that will be enough time to see all of the must-sees there (Soarin', Test Track, Mission:Space).
EMHs are posted for July:
Sunday AM is Epcot, PM is MK.
Monday AM is Hollywood Studios, PM is AK
Tuesday & Thursday AM is MK, PM is Epcot
Wed. AM is AK, PM is HS
Fri. AM is HS, PM is MK
Sat. AM is AK. There's no PM EMHs listed.
Glad you got what you were looking for!

Thank you for the reminder, RobDVC!
I updated my plans so we could take advantage of the PM EMHs:
Sunday 7/13 -- arrive at the Poly in the afternoon, then go to the MK at have the character dinner at the CP (7 pm), watch the parade and then Wishes. Then enjoy the EMH attractions at MK, if we choose.
Monday 7/14 quick in-room breakfast, then go to MK, lunch somewhere there, back and swim at Poly, then to AK for dinner at Tusker House (7:15 pm). Then enjoy the EMH attractions at AK. We may make it back to the Poly in time for Wishes viewing.
Tuesday 7/15 quick in-room breakfast, then to AK or DHS (have CS/ QS lunch there) , return to Poly to swim, and go to the early seating for Spirit of Aloha, then go to EPCOT in PM and watch Illuminations and then enjoy EMH attractions.
Wednesday 7/16 ‘Ohana character breakfast (9 am), then EPCOT, CS lunch somewhere at EPCOT, then return to Poly to swim, and then go to DHS for Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package dinner, with the early show and then enjoy the PM EMHs.
7/17 Have a light or no breakfast in-room, pack up and drive to Port Canaveral and board the Wonder as early as possible and enjoy the pool and buffet there.
I'm trying to optimize our stay at the Poly and arrange our schedule so we can take advantage of having a dinner show at the resort and only having to use the buses for one round-trip per day and having dinner at a park with EMHs.
Whereas I could spend 3/4 of the day at MGM/DS and not feel like I am missing anything, I really think Epcot (especially WS) is worth planning 2 full days for. Otherwise, your ADR's look great! They are a lot of the same restaurants I am choosing for our trip in October!
