As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi everyone,
Was wondering if anyone has fitness goals... Its time for me to tighten up my diet and step up time in the gym.. I want to be "buff Mom on board" when we cruise the Dream in May.
Please share if you have any goals and what your progress is!
Starting weight for me: 142..
so far meal #1 is late but healthy - egg whites and oatmeal.. off to the gym for me now.
I've lost 11.5 lbs since September. (Slow and steady wins the race, right? ) I would like to lose 15 more, which will put me back down to my lowest adult weight. Not doing anything drastic - just eating well and exercising (I looooove Turbo Fire! and my glove weights!) 5 or 6 days a week.

Another May goal here. I'm going to the Bahamas in May and need to get toned so I can look less "puffy" in a bikini. I've gained 12 pounds since last year. I've been watching my diet and trying to exercise at least 3 times a week, but with the busy holidays, I haven't been in over a week. I've lost 2 pounds since mid November. Just 10 more to go. Good luck and you can do it!!

I am kinda screwed. I am almost 47 and my BMI is good-in the normal to lower range I would like to loose more weight about 5 lbs, but when i get that low, I have people concerned that I am ill and dh hates the look on me. So, I walk and try to tone up. I have been walking almost every day (DD has the chicken pox right now, so I am having to put a halt to it). I wear my sorrell boots that weigh about 7 lbs each and trudge through the snow. I have joint problems so I know to keep moving. Now, I am never ever going to be a "hot mama" for our trip to the Maya, but I hope to feel secure enough to wear a bathing suit.
Definitly watching my diet this wk, and then next wk, it will go off abit. But I watch the scale like a hawk.
I believe in excersize for the health benifits more than anything.
I don't have a goal specifically. I just wanted to lose weight and get fit again (well, as much as my chronic fatigue allows, which at the moment isn't much ) and that was September 2010. Since then, I've lost 23 pounds through just exercising a bit more - I try and walk at least once a week during my lunchtime for an hour and that's really helped. I reckon I still have probably about another seven pounds to lose, so I'm getting close to my goal. Hopefully by my 40th this time next year!
How was everyones holiday? I'm still stuffed! I've been absent from the boards a bit getting ready for Christmas... happy to announce that I'm down 3#.. or so I hope since I just feasted for two days! LOL!
Off to the gym again..
What is your favorite fitness activity?
For me: I lift weights followed by cardio.. I shoot for 5 days a week but haven't been meeting my goal in recent months so I am resetting with a goal of 4x a week which will increase to 5 as I progress.
Best wishes everyone!!

Well, I was my lowest weight since grade 12 over 25 yrs ago, on Sat. Since then, with pmsing, I went up. I still have my birthday this wk and New Years Eve, so will watch it but still enjoy celebrating.
My family have been going out for 1+ hrs a day since the 24, and that has been nice. Been lots of hills etc. i don't weight lift. I walk hills instead.
Just going out excersizing for my health and so I can cont to eat what I want to
My bones often ache, so the best thing is walking and keeping active. Walking and mountain biking in the summer are my favourite sports.
I got back to the gym twice last week. It was rough. Trying to go 3 times a week. I'm starting to You Tube Zumba on the PS3 and dance around the living room on days I work too late to go exercise. It really is a great work out. Still hovering at 2#, which is great for eating a ton this holiday.

I am bored with walking. I know that sounds awful. I have to get back out there again especially with such a mild winter.
However, me and ds have just started Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30. It is alot tougher than I ever imagined. We are determined to try it and see if it works. We haven't gone with the diet yet. My stomache isn't that bad, and he is on 10 yrs so we will try the work out and then make an effort to change our eating within the next wk or two. I am totally amazed at how difficult it is and how much you sweat. Anyone else try her work out??? I wish Bob had a better one (would rather watch him) but ds likes to watch her
We have done 3 days and on a day rest due to commitments today. Marking it off on the calender. Boy, do we need encouragement
I am bored with walking. I know that sounds awful.
Doesn't sound awful! I hate the cardio machines at the gym - I get bored very easily!
I love the weight machines, though. So - I've been concentrating my efforts on those.
I have fitness goals, but they're not a specific weight. I've tried that before and that gets me no-where. I lose weight only to find it again and it usually brings some friends to share the fun!
So here are my goals:
I will decide each and every month, at the first of the month, whether to give up sugar in my tea, colas (sugar and diet), and anything else. This month, I gave up the sugar in the tea and colas and I've only had ONE soda and that was because there was no bottled water available at the hospital while I was dealing with my mother's health issues earlier this month - ONE 12 ounce soda!! I'm fairly proud of myself. It was actually pretty easy, so no problem. I like the whole thing of giving up something for only a month. I'll do it again in February. I don't even miss soda anymore. I think I'll also add something that's going to be a little harder: giving up Starbucks Chai Tea! I usually have about 4-6 a month. Have you seen the amount of sugar that are in those????
My other goals are:
To lift weights for toning, not for bulk, at least 3 times a week. I'm doing fairly well at that and have been lifting what totals about 12,000 each time. I'm feeling more strength in my limbs, my back, and my jeans are starting to be a bit loose.
To do cardio at least 2 times a week. I try to do at least 30 minutes each time but it's hard when you HATE it. Even with the machines that I can either "trek through the Alps (or some other touristy place)" or watch TV, it's still boring. Sometimes, if there are no classes in the pool at the Y, I put on my snorkel gear and swim.
Thank goodness there's an all new YMCA right down the road from us, with free trainers, dietitians (my next goal is to make an appointment with this person and set up a realistic diet) and free programs. It's been great for all of us.

Don't feel bad about getting bored with walking! I got on this running kick for a while (so I could do the WDW 1/2 marathon)...when I got to mile 10 of the 1/2, I thought "holy moly I am bored out of my ever-loving mind!" and that was at DISNEY WORLD!! I finished the race, but that was pretty much the end of me and running. I have a Jillian Michaels DVD (I have 30 day Shred, not the one you have), and while I agree, her workouts are good, she drives me insane. She talks way too much for me and I end up wanting to throw the weight at the TV instead of focusing on my form and stuff during the workout. If you want a really fun cardio workout (and I mean for REAL cardio - I sweat like crazy) I would suggest Turbo Jam and then work into Turbo Fire. I like them both because she changes routines quickly, so you are not just doing the same thing over and over and over. The music she uses is really good too - not the normal tacky, aerobics video background music. I workout 5-6 days a week, and I STILL feel it the next day when I do the Ab Jam dvd from Turbo Jam. Good luck!

I've liked Jillians tape so far. You do one type for one wk, and the next, she switches it up etc for 4 wks. I gather i am suppose to do 7 days of working out with her correct, and not 5 with the two day break before switching it up-correct???. I have heard that people can't stand her talking either, but she is good. I feel it and I think I have noticed it. I have a pretty good tummy, but no definition to it, and so I hope I will see some muscle definition in there somewhere.
I've had problems with my weight going up and down this past wk. Never gained any weight during the Christmas holidays-I actually lost, but this past wk, and my hormones, it hasn't been nice. Up and down, like a teeter totter. I have to start eating less, since I am getting older I don't really like veggies either. I guess I need to start to walk up in the hills again. I think I feel kinda down too, so this isn't helping (Jan is always a tough mth and this mth, with the strange weather, it isn't helping). We are going to the Maya Riviera in April, so I need to get things under control for that time.
I dont have any weight machines near me, or a gym. I live out of town, and am a EA sub, so I never know when or if I will get work when dd is in kindergarten. I don't drink pop. Chocolate is my down fall. I think it is portion control vs mobility and feeling blah.
Thanks for listening.
