As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well, I just got back from a month in WDW. We did so much and made so many special memories. I am just devastated to be home. I got off the plane and it's just been cold and rainy since.
I know I should realise how fortunate I have been. Not everyone has time for a long holiday like what I just had, but it seemed to go so quickly and I feel as low as can be now it's over. All that planning and prep (over a year and a halfs worth).
Still, as I said we did loads. We did all four WDW parks (numerous times) and I didn't miss a single ride or attraction! We did the waterparks and Fantasia mini golf and Summerland mini golf.
The wishes light show on the castle and fireworks brought tears to my eyes and Fantasmic was awesome.
We did the dessert party and I ate until I felt sick! But the creme brulee was gorgeous!!! and we did Wild Africa Trek, which was unbelievable and I will definately do again!
I shopped in Downtown Disney until my feet (and purse) ached and I bought myself a Dooney and Bourke Disney bag with the retro design, the castle and all of the attractions on it.
I stuffed my face at O'hana and Chef Mickey and met all of the characters! My son loved meeting Stitch! The kids got up and danced around all of the tables!
We ate all manner of foods I could not name at Boma and had a fab time! Oh, but I remember the Chicken curry and coconut soup! and the Zebra domes and passion fruit panna cotta!!!
We ate at Mama Melrose x 2, planet Hollywood x2, TREX x2, Rainforest cafe x2, IHOP, Bahama Breeze, Olive Garden, and had the most amazing sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich!
We visited Gator Land, Busch Gardens, Universal Studio's, Islands of Advanture and Clearwater and ate at Bubba Gumps! The BBQ chicken salad was unbelievable and I thought it would be a healthy option! No chance haha!
My son swam with the dolphins at Discovery Cove, but refused to kiss them. He doesn't do kissing!
I stalked an alligator that lived in the lake on the resort I stayed in and spent time sat on the pier reading my James Patterson, followed by a dip in the pool when it got hot.
I ventured out to Florida Mall, where I filled my cases with new stuff and had to throw away all my vacation clothes to make space!
I spent time with my family, without the Internet, computer games or work to get in the way. We dined together, swam and played together, talked together and told each other we loved us more than we ever have before.
We exchanged pins and collected park maps, serviettes, fast passes that went unused etc for the scrap book.
We stayed at Port Orleans for the last week of our holiday and rode the boat to DTD. We played in DisneyQuest and dined at the Cinema whilst watching Timothy Green.
I tried a BBQ pulled pork sandwich and a carrot cake cookie for the first time and loved time. I tried schoolbread in Norway for the first time and hated it lol.
We bought a passport and took it around the world at Epcot and did a few Agent Perry assignments!
We met all of the characters, sorcerer Mickey, Stitch, lilo, Goofy, Donald, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale, Woody and Jessie, Marie from Aristocats, Sleeping beauty, Belle and the Beast, Alice and Mary Poppings. We met the green soldiers and we met oher characters like Jake and Handy Manny.
We loved every minute of our holiday and my son and I cried when time came to say goodbye
Talking to everyone here at Passporter helped us make our holiday extra special and all the advice I collected here created moments for us that we'll never forget. I'm going to start planning the next WDW trip. It may not be for a while, but you got to start somewhere. In the meantime I also have my scrapbook to do, to collect all of our memories together. I'll still visit passporter for help planning the next holiday, but to see if I can help someone else have the holiday of a lifetime.
Im sure I sound corny, it's only a holiday to a commercial bunch of theme parks after all, but not to us it isn't. I find my family when we go to WDW and it kinda feels more like home, than home does. Perhaps I'll have to ban the internet and the wii here at our house in South Wales.
To everyone about to embark on their WDW holiday, I wish you all an amazing a time as what we just had.
It sounds like you had an amazing time! A month, wow! That would be so awesome. (I'm a little jealous, not going to lie! ) My husband and I think of Disney as our home away from home, and I have commented several times that getting off the plane in Orlando feels like coming home from a long trip to Seattle (where I live), rather than the other way around. So I know how you feel!
Post trip blues. . . you're not alone. We've all been there! Excellent suggestions above to help you relive the magic of your trip. We also try to bring a bit of the magic into each day. Carrying your new purse will help! Listening to Disney music, using new items you brought home, etc.
Glad you had a wonderful time and made many memories!
I saw you were there for a month, glanced at your location, and nodded. Folks from the UK do seem to come for longer stays - understandable, given the distance and the fact that you generally have longer vacations than we do in the US.
Sounds like a wonderful trip. Don't be sad, just think how much fun you can have planning your next one!
It sounds like it was so much fun and not a rush trip. All your descriptions make me long for my Disney trip so much more(just a little under two months). I know it will go fast especially when Sept. gets here(have a trip planned the end of Sept to go to Indiana and will need to get ready for it-- we do a modern day group camp with many friends for a week.)
Wow - a month, I too am envious about that kind of time but it does sound like you had an absolutely wonderful time.

To us here on Passporter, it's not corny at all. To us too (referrring to my family), it's like going home. We can only go for about 10 days at a time when we go but we get that PDS (Post Disney Syndrome according to Lenny) just the same as you.
What a glorious time you all had! So glad you are here to tell it to us and to help with other WDW planners! Hope to hear more from you. Would love to hear about your life in South Wales!
