As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

?I have been watching the airlines very carefully for our trip in Sept. They have all had some great prices for this srping then out into the summer but nothing spectacular for Sept. yet. But the prices are not bad around $219 abut I have seen prices as low as $108 RT for flights out through Aug. 15. My question, should I book now or just wait and hope for a great price like that. We are a party of 10 (3 families) and would like to all fly together if possible but not neccesary that we fly together. Ihave been watching Sun Country and Southwest in particular. So what do you think, will there be some good sales for Sept. Later on or do you think this is as good as it gets?
I can't speak for the airlines you are flying, but I have been watching Northwest and Southwest out of Detroit and the fares have been higher than the average in past years. We usually fly for $180 - $200 per person round trip, and I was seeing $280 - $360 for our dates (late November/December). I looked at dates traveling sooner, and the prices were still not very good. So when I caught a fare sale on Northwest for our dates ($199 per person), I jumped on it. They keep saying that they expect to see good deals on airfare, but I am NOT seeing them.
Play around with different dates for your preferred airlines to get a feel for "normal" fares, and then watch your dates for something that looks better than the "normal" that you are seeing. I would jump on it when you see it. That's just my opinion, but I am one of those "bird in the hand people" - I would rather pay a reasonable price now than take a chance that I will have to pay a lot more later. To me, it's not worth the headache trying to possibly save a few dollars later. Good luck!
I would go on a site that gives multiple airlines like Kayak.com, Expedia, Travelocity, etc. and monitor for fares. Farecast.com is another site that will give you fare predictions. I watch fares then when I find one I like will go direct to that airlines site to book. Good luck.

I know how you feel. I've been watching flights from Montreal to Orlando for the past 2 months for our upcomming trip in December. The prices just won't come down. We've flown twice in the past 2 years for 250$ per person and right now I'm looking at more than double that. I just can't bring myself to buy airfare at those prices. I chose to wait it out but I look up fares every night.
I am feeling the same, not sure if I should book or wait... Flights from Vancouver are way to high, so we usually fly out of seattle, but even those rates are highter... If I had of booked right away when we were looking I could have got 296 round but now they are up to 336... grrr
plus dh thinks he will stay home and work which will leave me and the kids unless I can find someone to come with us...

If you fly more than once a year book SW.
They will credit you if the price goes down. The credit can be used for a flight you purchase later.
You just need to watch the fares, and contact SW when they go down.
I fly rarely, but I could have gotten some credits if I rebooked.

Planning for summer of 2017. 3rd week in August. We will get blown away by the rides, or a hurricane. Either way it should be alot of fun
I was going to say the same about Southwest - at least if you book with them and then a cheaper deal comes out, you can get a credit. with finding a cheaper fare.
I went ahead and booked SW when the prices were what I could live with. Now I just check back every so often and if the prices come down, I get a credit. I've seen them go up and down since purchasing them. So far I've got $128 in credit. We travel once every year anyway so I'll just use the credit next year.
When you find a price that you feel is fair, book it. With most airlines, you can get a credit for the difference if the price decreases. Otherwise, you run the risk of no seats, flying on a schedule that doesn't work for you and a higher price. I booked earlier this year than I normally would because I found a price that was pretty good and I pounced on it. I think waiting for a good price is a great idea, but IMHO you have to make a move sometime; have a do-or-die date and make a decision.
Our December trip is also a group of 10. In February we booked Delta for $194 ( $189 plus tax ) per person round trip from Boston . We wanted to be on the same non stop flight and the first 20 rows were already booked so we grabbed it ! Just now I checked and there are only 9 seats left in coach on that flight.
Book as soon as you are comfortable with a price - a great last minute bargin might be hard to find with 10 people needing seats.

I wonder if the cost is higher because you need 10 seats. There may be some seats available at a lower rate, but they are not showing up because you need 10 seats.
Try putting in 4 seats and see what price comes up.
It's funny because we are going in September as well and fares from Buffalo are incredibly low for the fall. We booked Jet Blue for $59 one way! Southwest fares just came out and they are $59 as well and I think AirTran is about the same.
with orbitz low price garentee you cant go wrong, if the price falls you get a check for the difference. then you dont have to worry about the price going up
