An Animal Kingdom State of Being with Cam and Fam COMPLETED 9/18 - Page 95 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love the new Lego displays! We hope to make a stop at DTD after our cruise, on the way to Sanford for the autotrain. If we do, I know I definitely need to check these out!
Sorry about the meltdown! My DD is famous for under the breath mutterings about how mean we are when she's mad!

The story you wrote for Stefanie brought tears to my eyes! Do you do all of your scrapbook journaling in 3rd person? I seem to fluctuate back and forth between first person and third person, though I try to be consistent throughout an entire scrapbook.
The Lego store looks really cool! Love the pics of Stefanie with Buzz. We rarely make time for DtD, but my boys would love that. We'll have to try to check it out in December.
Sorry about the meltdown -- it happens to the best of us! -- but glad that she came around before you got back to the hotel. When I did online check-in for POR in February, I could have sworn that "close to transportation" was an option, as that was our desire and we did end up with a room just a few steps from one of the bus stops there.

Wow..I was something like 15 pages behind. Sounds like your AK day was truely magical. How awesome to be in the parade and all your animal shots on the safari were wonderful.
Love all the new lego displays. They aer really cool. And sorry about the meltdown...but we all seem to have them every once in a while. In fact my DD (17) had one on Saturday night. It included the "angry eyes" from Toy Story, our little inside joke about her evil, pissed at the world stares. She too, sat away from us as well. Ahhh kids, what would you do without them?!!
Don't you just love Joanns?! We have a really crappy one where I live, but about 40 mins up the road they have a new one that is loaded with Scrapbook items, and they have been on sale for 40% off for a few weeks now. I have to go up to DC tomorrow to take my DD for her endo appt and will try and stop by there. I love when scrapbook items are on sale. My kids...not so much. I wanted to stop at Michaels yesterday, but my DS advised he would set the place on fire if I did. Guess he doesn't like the place.
I am more amazed everytime I see pics of what some people with way too much time on their hands can do with a simple childs toy Got to get me some of those Lego's
Sorry that Stephanie had a Saddlecrap episode fortunately it didn' last too long
After shopping, we took a restroom break where a mother and grown daughter kept staring at me while I washed my hands. As they exited, I heard the mom say, “You’re right it is the same as our.’ Who knows what IT was?
My 5 year old is always doing things like this! It's usually because someone has a hidden (or not-so-hidden) Mickey somewhere, but I can only imagine how it can be percieved sometimes! I do try to affirm what she's talking about loud enough (and with a smile) so that they know it's harmless!
I'm with Stefanie on the shopping...I probably act the same way when we leave DTD, atleast on the inside!
Love your giraffe gifts from Ann! She's so sweet. And that really was a wonderful day. Your DTD time sounded great too, except for Stef's meltdown. Glad she quickly got over it! I can't wait for the shopping photos. I need a little retail therapy, and your pictures will give me a fix.

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
I love the new displays at the LEGO store. I have the same Harry Potter magnet set. Can't wait to see pictures of the rest of your purchases. Sorry Stefanie had a meltdown, but at least she wasn't mad at you for too long.
Just getting caught up again Cam! Such wonderful pictures from AK! Love the character pictures and the parade ones as well! And what a great story for the scrapbook!

I have to say that it was very funny how fast Cam and I scooted out of that bathroom with the continuous flushing potty!
The food was good, the Hidden Mickey booth was fun! The friends....they are priceless!
What a wonderful way to finish such a magical day!
Ok - I think we must have posted at the same time, because your last post was not here when I was typing!!
Poor Stefanie! I remember you texting me about her meltdown! I think she had shoppers overload!
I am glad she came around while on the bus!
I am really sorry that I didn't venture over to the new Lego store! I really missed quite a bit of cool stuff.
I am really wondering why I didn't go there!
It sounds like your check in at Kidani went smoother than ours. But, I think our room location was a lot closer than yours!
Note to self.....when staying at Kidani - request a room close to the main lobby!
We did skedaddle out of that restroom in record speed! Kidani is so large that making a room request here is probably a very wise idea. We would pass our old room from 2009 every time we headed to the bus stop and I wished so much to be there again.

I'm glad for your sake she came out of it pretty quickly and was nice to you again!
I have to agree that her meltdown face is actually sweet, but then I just love her face. She always comes around fairly quickly, thank goodness!

I love how kids can have a meltdown and be so "angry" with you but then 5 min later talk to you as if nothing had happened
Your purchases sound great! Can't wait to read the rest!
Oh I love the photos from the new lego store! I'm so sorry Stefanie had a melt down, but it sounds like it didn't last too long. I'm curious to hear about Kidani, because even though it is our home property, we haven't stayed there--we seem to always end up at Jambo--either because we're splurging on Concierge points or saving on Value points
This was our first time to stay on points at Jambo House. I truly Kidani and that didn't change with the long walk.

It ended up not being all that bad.

You will definitely empathize with the walk we had then. We were actually pretty close to Jambo House and could see some of the rooms there from our balcony.
What a great story! You did a good job with that and I'll bet Stefanie loves to hear it.
WOW -amazing pictures of the new Lego models! I love the shot of Stefanie with Buzz. So sorry that she had a meltdown, but glad it was over soon.
Stefanie was very patient waiting to get her photo with both Buzz and Woody as these were very popular photo ops.

I can't imagine how much time it took to build each of these.
