As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: My First Birthday with a redhead and a mouse! Day 1, Part 2!
Your dinner at Jiko sounds wonderful! First, tell us all why The Cooking Place is the place to sit during dinner? Is it because you can watch the chefs work their magic and talk to them while they're at it? Second, Angie- the camera loves you! You have a radiant smile. Third, Angie- my birthday's in September. Shall I reserve a room for us now? Fourth, I think it's a riot that the executive chef came out to talk to you guys for such a long time. I think she really may have thought you two were reporters, crazy reporters, but reporters none the less. That was the best update so far Tara, looking forward to much more.

Re: My First Birthday with a redhead and a mouse! Day 1, Part 2!
<font color="purple"> Ok, I think Miss Tara is holding off on posting anymore until I give you my version of Day 1, so here goes....
Day 1: Wednesday January 18
I woke up way too early this morning without help from my buddies on the CBS early morning news(my tv is set to go on as my alarm). Why is it that I can't do that on a normal work day?!? We all know the answer to that one!
I lounged in bed thinking this would be the day I DID NOT arrive almost 2 hours early for a flight that I've taken so many times before and found it time & time again not necessary too. Even on busy travel day, I've found that AA @LGA at 7am is not busy at all.
Then I heard it..."3 hour delays on arrivals to LGA. Call your airline for more details..." came out of Vanessa Alfano's mouth. This was the day that the northeast had a major storm with winds 35-40 miles an hour.
So now, I was rushing to get ready and praying that my plane wasn't one of those that hadn't arrived. As I waited for my cab, I called American and after 10 minutes on hold, the Rep assured me that it was showing on time leaving LGA, but couldn't confirm if the plane was actually there.
Then a ride that usually takes 10 minutes, took longer, because we were stuck behind a school bus and "You Can't Pass a School Bus..yada, yada, yada...Why are kids getting picked up for school before 7am anyway?!? Whateverrrrr
It actually didn't take that much longer but my nerves were already shot. I did not want my flight to be delayed or worse, canceled!!
When we got to the AA curbside, a Skycap actually opened my door for me. There was not a soul checking in. About 5 minutes later I was through security and walked to my gate, glancing at the departure screen as I went along. Still showing ontime, good. At the gate, my nerves were calmed to see my plane sitting there and the board did say ontime!
Tara was departing about 1/2 hour before me, so I called her to make sure her flight was on schedule and she said that she was just boarding and they were leaving on time. I told her all was well so far and I'd call her as soon as I landed in MCO.
We boarded on time and things seemed to be okay, but then...the captain gets on the speaker and says We are number 13 or something, in the line for take off. While we sat and waited the winds felt like King Kong had taken hold of the plane, it was shaking so much. Finally 45 minutes late, we took off. I was seriously shocked that they actually flew out in that weather. Later @MCO I saw the departure screens saying all flights to NYC were cancelled for the rest of the day! I guess I lucked out.
I was worried that Tara would be stuck waiting for a long time, but there was no need as she found comfort in a
It was sunny & 60 degrees when we touched down. I called Tara to see if she wanted a Starbuck's but she declined. What...beer & coffee don't mix???
We went off in pursuit of my luggage and this time AA came through, it didn't take long before my Pooh bags came out.
We picked up our "Little Red Corvette" and headed towards Utopia,..I mean WDW. It was a little windy, but we cruised with the top down anyways. The locals must've thought we were freaks.
Something Tara forgot to mention is that she christened me with the windshield wiper fluid! Tara, were you trying to tell me something?? Do I O-FFEND?(In the words of the immortal Ducky and if you don't remember Ducky, from "Pretty In Pink", then that's just sad...for me, cause I'm dating myself!)
It took Tara a couple of days to get that " that's not the gear shift.
AGH!
We made a pit stop at Walgreens to see if we could find another battery for her camera, but no luck. At this point, we decided instead of checking into AKL and possibly missing our meet with Linda(MickeyMac) that we'd head straight to the Magic Kingdom.
I'll just add a few pictures that I took from the rest of our day. You've already gotten the details from Tara.
I was in charge of taking these two:
The princess begins her magical trip
Getting pixied at the Barber Shop
Her first serenade of the day!
On our way to Tara's favorite ride
Which is:
Second serenade of the day....
I took this picture, because I could not think of his name..
Is he from Robinhood? never saw that movie...
Then off to check-in for my first ever stay at...
Onto AK EMH
Did Stitch TP the trees?
It's the attack of the Birds!
A rare shot of the Tree of Life at night
Stitch & Lilo were great!
Back to the warm lodge and before our dinner @Jiko:
Tara posting a live update on the boards!
Had to post another picture of Reiner! Hubba, Hubba
I hope he's there when I go back!
The Cooking Place
Canada & Arizona...I can't remember their names, but I remember where they hail from!
This wine was soooo good!!
Tara thought so too!
The first of MANY free birthday desserts
Back in the room, I decided to give Tara 2 of her gifts:
A bottle of California Moscato(which I thought we'd be sharing, but never got a chance to drink it. I was told it was very good, when Tara got home!)
And an Ariel(her favorite Princess) t-shirt that
read: "Tara, Princess from head to toe" , because I thought it appropriate for her to wear, for what was to be her first surprise, the next day at the Magic Kingdom!
**Stay tuned for how I pulled off the first of a few surprises on Day 2!**

It's the Sheriff of Nottingham!
Angie - terrific pictures - your camera does an awesome job! Can you zoom in on the hi-res pic of the two cutie-pat-tootie Jiko chefs to read their nametags?
Can't wait to read more, ladies...
