Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The Big Disney Birthday Bash Trip Report Updated 11/15 - The Birthday Bash trip finally begins.
Tuesday, November 8, 2005 - Disney MGM Studios
I woke up at 7:30 a.m. and couldn’t get back to sleep so I laid on the bed and finished my trip report notes from the day before until the kids woke up at 8:30 a.m. I set the wakeup call for 8:45 so Katie could hear Stitch and Mickey. The kids ate breakfast in my parent’s room again and then we started getting ready for our day at Disney MGM Studios.
We arrived at MGM at around 11:15 and walked down Hollywood Boulevard.
I tried to take a picture of Shannon at the Hollywood and Vine sign but the sun was in her eyes so I deleted it.
We saw Minnie and Pluto at the Mickey hat and got autographs and pictures
Erin, Shannon, Katie, Molly and Pop with Minnie & Pluto
Erin, Shannon, Katie, Molly and Pop with Minnie & Pluto again
Carol & Cathy with Minnie & Pluto
and then went into The Great Movie Ride again since it is the kids’ favorite attraction at MGM. Of course they all enjoyed it. After The Great Movie Ride we went straight to Commisary Lane to see if we could FINALLY get a picture with the elusive Sully (on our last trip we got two pictures of the kids with Mike but none with Sully ) When we turned the corner Katie was so excited to see that both Mike & Sully were there. She had been waiting three years to get a picture with Sully. Molly was continuing to get in the pictures as long as Jimmy held her (preferably on his hip that was farthest from the characters )
Erin, Shannon, Katie Molly & Jimmy with Mike AND Sully FINALLY!
After getting the long-awaited picture with Sully we got fast passes for Star Tours and then went to see the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular – I always enjoy this show and the kids liked it too but Shannon was very disappointed to find out that Harrison Ford didn’t do his own stunts. She said she is done with Indiana Jones now and that it might have ruined movies for her forever (she is such a drama queen ).
After the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular my Dad, Katie and I used our Fastpasses to get on Star Tours. Shannon was planning on going with us but she decided it was too scary. Katie loved it!! I was really surprised by Katie this week, she is a very quiet, laid-back child - who knew there was a daredevil inside )!!
A picture Jimmy took of Molly while he was waiting for Katie & I to go on Star Tours
After Star Tours we went to the Disney Animation Studios and sat through the show with Mushu and then the kids got their picture taken with Chicken Little & Abby Mallard (Erin wasn’t with us, she went somewhere with my Mom, Dad & Carol & Cathy but I don’t remember where they went - maybe to eat?)
Shannon, Katie & Molly (& Jimmy of course) with Chicken Little & Abby Mallard
After the picture with Chicken Little the kids played around in the Animation Studio on the computers drawing pictures and coloring. Eventually I looked at the show times card and realized that the last show of the Lights, Motor Action Stunt Spectacular was starting in 45 minutes so we started heading that way. I called my Dad and told him where we were and he said he would meet us near The Little Mermaid so we sat on a bench to wait.
Carol & Cathy next to The Little Mermaid
When everyone caught up with us we started towards The Lights, Motor Action Stunt Spectacular. On the way there Molly spotted the spraying Coke bottle and since Molly has never met a sprinkler she doesn’t like we stopped so she could get wet with Katie & Shannon.
Molly, Katie & Pop with the Coke Sprayer
Finally, we made it to Lights Motor Action and it was in a word INCREDIBLE – I loved it and so did everyone else.
Some pictures of The Lights, Motors, Action Stunt Spectacular!
LMASS was over at 4:30 and after stopping for a picture at the Singing in the Rain umbrella so Molly could get wet yet again
Erin, Shannon & Molly under the Singing in the Rain umbrella (Katie didn’t want to get wet again) and the sun was in their eyes again (the sun was brutal this week)
we walked around looking at the enjoying the sights as we made our way to our 5:20 ADR at Hollywood & Vine.
A picture of the Pizza Planet roof because Molly got so excited to see the Toy Story characters
Hollywood and Vine was really busy and we weren’t seated until after 6:00 p.m. I don’t remember everything we ate but everything was delicious. I know we all ate more than $22.99 worth of food & Shannon ate as much as an adult so I know she more than ate her $10.99 worth of food. Katie ate like a bird as usual but Molly was free and she ate more than Katie so we definitely got our money’s worth.
When we were finished dinner MGM was closed so we started walking towards the exit. On the way out, we bought Shannon & Molly spinning lights in Tinkerbell (Shannon) & Mickey (Molly)!
Shannon & Molly with their lights
When we got back to the room we found our two Cinderella dolls and Katie’s Barbie on the bed watching TV. After taking a couple pictures of our couch potato toys
we all walked down to Fulton’s General Store to check out what they had that we might want to buy at World of Disney with our discount. The kids went a little wild running around saying they wanted everything in sight. When I had to break up an actual fist fight between Shannon & Katie over a Tinkerbell sweatshirt (that wouldn't have fit either of them) I decided we better get out of there.
We went back to the room and Shannon finished the homework her teacher gave her to do while we were away and we were all in bed by 10:30.
The weather was: Spectacular – 84 during the day and high 60s at night.
The Best Thing was: Finally getting a picture with both Mike & Sully
The Worst Thing was: Shannon & Katie’s fist fight in Fulton’s General Store
The Most Magical Moment was: Coming home to find our dolls watching TV Mousekeeping!!

Sounds like something I would have done with my younger sister, fighting over a shirt that would not have fit either of us!
