As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Marnie, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading every word of your trip report. Sorry that you had all those problems at the airport but it sounds like you managed to turn the whole thing into an adventure. I'm really looking forward to reading your final thoughts.

rrrrgghhhh... I absolutely get so unnerved by those people who think the rules don't relate to them. I'm glad you told that woman she couldn't cut in line ahead of you.
Glad you're alarm clocks worked and that Colin waited until after your trip was over to get sick.

I am so sorry that your trip report is ending Marnie!! I always enjoy reading about your adventures and I really love your pictures!!! Your time at the airport sounds less than fun. We are one of those families who drive, but after getting stuck at an airport once with three kids under 4, I vowed never to fly again! We are lucky that the kids are great travelers!! Can't wait to read your final thoughts and I really hope you can go to Disney in December so I won't have to wait so long for another trip report!!!!

I'm so sorry this report has come to an end. Poor Colin, coming home and getting sick - but as you said, at least he made it home first. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us - I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hey Marnie,
I don't think I've chimed in during your entire trip report, sorry about that. Your trip sounded great! You and your family have a great way of rolling with the punches, as it were. You tour the parks with the kids in mind and then head to the hotels for a great rest and recharge. Your mehtod is a great model for what I want our trips to be like...fun, relaxing, exciting and tasty!
As always, awesome pictures. Your photos of Epcot actually make me want to go there during the Flower & Garden Festival. (And that's saying a lot!)
Thanks again for sharing your trip with us! Can't wait for your next adventure!!

[ QUOTE ]
While we were waiting, I spotted another family leaving from the Villas. They were all piling into the minivan, with Massachusetts plates. Ugh, I just could not drive that after spending a week at Disney. I was exhausted and the last thing I wanted to do was spend a day in the car. More power to them for driving it!
[/ QUOTE ]
We drive from Massachussetts b/c DH will not fly it is absolutely exhausting!! I'm glad you had a great vacation, and I'm sorry Colin got sick (at least it didn't happen until you got home!).

Marnie- Sorry to hear about Colin getting sick but it does sound like you enjoyed your trip! You did so much and were so lucky you didn't have the crowds that I experienced Easter week. Hope you get to go during the Christmas season so we can read another trip report. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your adventure with us.

Re: Colexi\'s Spring Break Adventure - Thread 3 of 3 - Updated 6/3
Final Thoughts
Well, it was an adventure, and not a nightmare as I had thought it might be. I can stand up and say “I survived the vacation week crowd” Of course, this year I had Easter on my side With it being in late March, I think the rest of the country except the Northeast must follow the spring break at Easter theme so the crowds were quite manageable. That said, they were definitely building as the week went on. And from subsequent reports of Passporters who were down there the week after I was, it looked like it was quite busy. Maybe we just lucked out We still were stuck in a sea of red (Red Sox and Patriots gear was being worn everywhere) and at some times I felt like I must have been in Downtown Boston instead of Downtown Disney with all the New Englanders :hello:
Even though this was our third trip in 11 months (don’t think I’ll be able to do that again, but I can dream ) we still had many firsts this trip. Of course there were the obvious new attractions……Soarin’, the new Stunt Show, Cinderellabration, the new lunch at PSB in Norway, Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station. But we managed some “old” firsts as well……..Le Cellier, Coral Reef, the Animation Tour at MGM, CP for dinner, Stitch (for Matt), Fountainview Bakery, Ghiradelli for ice cream , Off Kilter, renting a Surrey Bike, Ariel’s Grotto, Beaches and Cream (eating inside instead of take out), Tea Cups (for me and Colin). I’m impressed with that list
The weather also cooperated, well mostly. We went from winter to summer in less than 7 days. The only thing we should have had were the blankets for the kids the first few nights (who would’ve thunk you’d need blankets in mid-April )! And of course, we got to meet up with some great Passporters…….Kelley (Megglesmom), Rhonda (mom2my4dwarfs), and Karen (BritDisFan).
The AKL was great as usual, and our room was to die for I don’t think I could be so lucky again, and thankfully all our requests were met. The BC was good as well, you just can’t beat the location. Now, if I could only snag a room discount, I’d be even happier And hallelujah, they finally installed a self serve drink dispenser area That alone was worth it!
Well, that wraps it up! I hope you enjoyed it The next trip is officially scheduled for August 2006 for our big 10th Anniversary Blowout (4 day cruise and 10 days at the park). But, can we stay away for that long? Will we make it back before that (perhaps another December magic trip) Stay tuned
Here are the Photopass pictures. Bear with me, scanning is not my forte They looked fine on the screen, but are fuzzy here
Thanks for reading the report everyone

Thaks for the wonderful trip report, Marnie. I enjoyed reading all of it and loved your pictures. It brought back memories of going to Disney World when DD was younger.
