As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Sorry to take so long to move this along, but I have been under the weather a lot lately.
Rich and Kathy have been very, very patient waiting to arrive and meet us at Flying Fish Cafe, and are no doubt very hungry by now!
[/ QUOTE ]
Larry, we hope that the reason you haven't posted lately is because of your work schedule and not because you're still not feeling well.
Anyway, we got so hungry waiting for the Flying Fish, we had to make a trip to Epcot one recent Saturday morning and have a late lunch at Le Cellier. Excellent meal. Rich had to have their ice wine. Okay, we won't say anything more about that now.
Can't wait to relive that Flying Fish meal.

Re: Bob & Larry Visit Walt Dinner World, February 3-9, 2004
Where oh where has Larry been?
Everyone--especially Kathy and Rich and Bob and Marti--I apologize profusely for letting the Trip Report just sit for so long. It seemed like every time I turned around something else came up. I was sick a couple of times and worked on two proposals and a difficult string of deliveries and somehow more sitting in front of a PC didn't appeal.
Of course, the avoidance behavior could have been more due to not having another trip to WDW planned!
Well, Bob and I are taking care of that.
SO... pull those arms and legs in, folks, and we'll wrap this up so that I can spend my time planning for the next trip!

Re: Bob & Larry Visit Walt Dinner World, February 3-9, 2004
Saturday, February 7, 2004 - Day 5, Part 2: Passporter Mini-Meet and Feast
Arriving back at the AKL, we changed clothes and, reassembled, made for Michael's car for the quick trip to the Boardwalk. It had cooled considerably but we were warmly dressed. We were quite early arriving at the Flying Fish Café. There we found that our favorite CM, Jon (see previous TripReports), was working. However, he was detailed to the Chef's Counter this evening and unless we sat there, would not be able to be our server. We spoke to Jon for a while and he assured us that otherwise Joe would do an excellent job for us. [And he was right!]
Following our talk with Jon, Bob and I had a little confab outside where we decided on a table instead of the counter so we could visit with Rich and Kathy and hear one another; our thought was that 6 people strung out in a row would make this difficult. While we were talking, Rich and Kathy arrived, and Marti and Michael waved us in! Rich and Kathy are staying at Disney's Boardwalk Inn and only had to walk down the hill.

{K} Capuccino
Passporter Mini-Meet
Two4Disney, UncleBob, Bob's Sister, and LlaffinPlace
Well, needless to say as I look back over the feast that Bob and I hosted, it was one of the best meals I have had at Disney--friends, family, and fantastic food! I did not take many notes [other than detailing what everyone ate!] mainly because it was more important to be "in the moment", enjoy the meal and get to know Rich and Kathy. Up to this point we only knew them from the Passporter Boards. But that said, it was almost like sitting down and getting reacquainted with long-time friends you haven't seen in a while. R&K (AKA "Two4Disney") now live over Tampa way and manage short trips to WDW from time to time. And we are sooo envious!
The conversation was lively and enjoyable, and the food was wonderful--this is one of our favorite restaurants at Disney for a good reason. You'll note that fully four of us had the Snapper. It is FF's signature dish and I always find it hard to try something else!
The wines worked out well, and it was fun to introduce Rich to the ice wine that Bob and I have enjoyed so many times. For those of you who have not read the previous Trip Report [tomes], Bob and I were introduced to the dessert wines by helpful CMs (is there any other kind?) and have enjoyed them whenever possible. While we had been happy to see Jon and talk to him, our disappointment in not having him for our server passed quickly--Joe certainly maintained the standard for the Flying Fish wait staff!
After this wonderful meal and visit with R&K, we made our way back to Michael's car and traveled back to the AKL.

Re: Bob & Larry Visit Walt Dinner World, February 3-9, 2004
Hey Larry,
So glad to see you back!! Thanks for posting our Flying Fish selections. We couldn't remember the wines we had. You and Bob were such excellent hosts. We loved the whole evening and can't wait to go back to FF. Our mouths are drooling.
BTW, we finally rode Tower of Terror and it's now one of our favorite rides. Kathy faced her fears and can't wait to go back.
Yes, we love Tampa Bay, especially since we are also beach and cruise ship lovers. We were just at the port today watching the Miracle sail in. There's so much bounty here. The biggest problem we have is deciding what to do with our weekends: Disney or the beach or some other fun outing.
Can't wait to hear about your plans for your next Disney trip.

Re: Bob & Larry Visit Walt Dinner World, February 3-9, 2004
Sunday, February 8, 2004 - Day 6, Part 1: Brrr!
The wind chill this morning is around 30 degrees! Perhaps that is warm if you are here at WDW from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, but it was a big change from a couple of days ago when I almost passed out from the heat!
We left for the Animal Kingdom (AK) around 8:30 a.m. and got there for opening. We headed immediately for the Tree of Life and It’s Tough to be a Bug because it was WARM inside! Golly! Then it was on to Dinosaur!—with no wait. Now hungry [Do try to contain your shock! ], we headed for the Tusker House, where I had a Cinnamon Roll (no surprise), OJ, and a double Cappuccino (to warm up); Bob also had a C-roll, OJ and HOT chocolate, and apparently I have no notes on what Marti ate—sorry—but I am sure coffee was involved….
After some food and a warming cup, we transited over to Kilimanjaro Safaris (KS) where we had a chilly ride, but a good safari: we saw the hippos out of the water!
Having seen and done what we wanted, we headed through the Oasis to the gate and got in line for the Disney-MGM bus as the hordes descended on AK. A timely bus driver saved us from frostbite. Arriving at MGM, we quickly made our way through security and the ticket gate, and headed back to—you guessed it—Twilight Zone ToT and RnRC. We decided to get a Fastpass for ToT. We then checked out the show times for WWTBAM and decided we had time for Muppetvision 3-D prior to the next show. We missed the preshow (a shame because it’s so cute) , walking straight into the theater.
We left Muppetvision and made our way back to WWTBAM in plenty of time. The interesting thing that happened on this visit was that there was a problem with the Fastest Finger question and they had to reboot! I saw Marti’s seat number on the Top Ten List at least once in this game.
It was now time for our ToT FP. We made it in pretty fast—there was a very long standby line outside. Bob was given a badge at the entrance to the FP line as part of a Disney timing test. The badge was collected at the check-in desk inside. Interesting, and he was happy to help out.
We went over to RnRC and waited in line about a half hour to fill in time until our FP kicked in. What a difference FP makes! After we rode for the second time, it was yet again time to feed our faces. This time we went to the ABC Commissary. Bob had a Cheeseburger and Marti had a Kids Meal with Chicken Nuggets, I believe. And I did not write down what I ate, but I am pretty certain it was fish and chips. I find this place to be fairly adequate but nothing special.
Avoiding the parade, we traveled back down Sunset Boulevard to find that the standby time was 40-45 minutes for ToT. At this point Marti disappeared into the gift shop and, returning, presented Bob and me with Tower of Terror Mickey beanies! Way cool—thanks, Marti! We headed out of MGM towards Epcot, planning to stop at Beaches and Cream for a treat. [No, really?] Marti talked to Mike, and he is back from Cape Coral and is sitting in the AKL with a drink.
Coming Up: We’ll Walk to Epcot if We Can Stop at B&C on the Way!
