Me, Muffin and the Oasis of the Seas!!-TR - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What is your tally of winnings so far? The prohibition party looks like tons of fun!
At this point I think I am up to around 3 grand. We did use about a thousand of it to pay off our bill (which included my purse!) The Prohibition party was terrific!!

As were we, but we honestly didn't care one way or the other!!
When we first got to Cozumel, Muffin was still asleep and I went up to do some reading. I swear to you all, the day started out warm and sunny. After a leisurely hour or so with some Starbucks and an awesome book, I went down to see if Muffin was awake.
He was up, dressed and ready to start the day! We went up to the windjammer and got our usual breakfast fare and sat by the window. We noticed the clouds rolling in and what looked like a rain front on the other side of the island. By the time we were finished our meal, it was raining like crazy!!
We are parked next to the Norwegian Dawn
The Captain came on and said that the rain should let up in a half an hour or so, so we decided to change into our swim suits and head to the Solarium hot tub. We met some really nice people and chatted with them for a good hour and it was still raining.
Originally, we had planned to go to Chankanaab Park today but decided at the last minute that we would just relax and maybe take a walk around the shopping area. This wound up being a great decision because another hour later and it was still raining. We lazed around in the Solarium. We read, we swam, we hot tubbed some more, we got some drinks and basically just lounged all day.
And guess what?! It was still raining!! Mind you It was a nice warm rain and we were wet most of the day anyway so at this point we decided not to go ashore at all. The ship did provide umbrellas for anyone wanting to do so, but we have been to Cozumel a number of times and were perfectly content to just hang out.
Around 4 PM, we went back to our room, got showers and got ready for dinner, which happened to be at the Solarium Bistro tonight!! . We can now say that we truly spent the whole day and part of the evening at the Solarium!!
First we went to the pub , though:
The newspaper Muffin is reading is actually the pub menu. He couldn’t find anything he liked on it and I think I got an IPA.
Then we headed up to the Solarium Bistro. We had a lovely dinner again tonight. It started out with buffet offerings from bread and soup to salad and various Mediterranean accompaniments. Then we ordered an entree from the menu, just like at the Cali Grill brunch.
We both ordered salmon tonight
The food was truly delicious and different with a definite Mediterranean flair. We also each got a nice glass of wine. For dessert, we went back up to the buffet station. Also the ship pulled out while we were at dinner which was really nice to watch!
We took a stroll around the promenade and then went to a comedy show. The comedian was just so so but we enjoyed the show. We next went to the casino again where, I know this is getting old, but I won some more loot! I think about 300 dollars tonight.
When we got back to our stateroom, this is what was waiting for us!!
We sat out on the balcony for a while before going to bed.
Tomorrow: Our last day onboard!

Another nice day! Too bad for the rain. You made the best of it with time in the spa. Dinner looked very good with some nice choices.

October 6, 2017-Enjoying an amazing dinner at Victoria & Albert's with PP's Dot and Drew
My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
Our last full day onboard would be at sea. We got up early and took a walk on the jogging track and then went up to the windjammer. After breakfast, we played a round of putt putt. I kicked Muffin’s butt!
Then we went down to the Promenade and took lots of pictures:
We browsed through the shops and then went up to deck 15 to enjoy the hot tub and pool. We ate lunch at Park Cafe and both got Roast Beef sandwiches which were delicious!! Then we went to the Boardwalk and rode the carousel and got some ice cream. There was a water show going on at the Aqua Theatre and a deck party with drinks, cupcakes and candy apples that was so fun!!
We went back to the stateroom and took a nap. For dinner tonight, we had no plans so we went to Vintages and got a nice glass of wine and then decided we needed to check out the Diamond Lounge, which we hadn’t been to all week!
Vintages
We were pleasantly surprised to find some great appetizers and Muffin got another glass of wine while I got a Lemon Drop martini.
We finished the night off at the casino where we won another grand!! That’s right!! One thousand dollars! We went to guest services and paid off our remaining cruise balance, which was about a hundred bucks and wound up with a grand total of FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS to take home!!!!!
This enabled us to do some amazing things with our remaining upcoming vacations this year, which you will certainly find out about shortly!!
We were wide awake and really hungry after paying off our bill, so we went to Sorrento’s pizza. Muffin had a muffuletta sandwich and I had a slice of yummy pizza and we just enjoyed hanging out on the promenade and people watching for a bit before going to bed.
Our last towel animal for this trip:
We packed up and put our luggage out for the next morning. We paid for it to go directly on our flight, which is always worth it to us!
March 11th
In the morning, we got up, showered, dressed and were off the ship by 8 AM. We caught the shuttle back to MCO and had pretty much all day to hang out at the airport.
We went to the Hyatt and sat in the lobby and read, ate and drank coffee for most of the day and ran into Steve and Susie, who sat with us for a while! Our flight home was at 4 PM and was on time.
We were home and doing wash by 8:30 PM!!
All in all, we had an AH-mazing trip!!! If you think about it, we should have been disappointed because two out of the three ports were a bust.
We could have cared less about that though!! The weather was fabulous overall, we really enjoyed the ship, we won a small fortune, we met the best people, our stateroom was great and the food was unbelievable!!
This concludes another wonderful trip!! Thanks for following along!!
We can’t wait to go on the Symphony in January!!!!

That is unbelievable! You really ought to quit your jobs and just make going to casinos a full time job. You'd be zillionaires!

That was a lot of money won - more than the actual cost of the cruise I’m guessing? Can’t wait to hear what else you’ve used the winnings on!
Thanks for sharing the TR, Tara!
