10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad your flight was a smooth one and got you in early which is always a welcome thing! Your resort is so beautiful and the entrance did remind me of WL and AKL.
The flight couldn't have been any better and especially arriving early. Amazingly, I was checked in at the RP just over an hour after landing in Orlando! I love the resort and with the entrance to it reminded me so much of these two WDW resorts.

I didn't know about these devices and sounds like something I'll need for a future trip! Pretty cool and convenient. Will definitely look into it on Amazon or at my Verizon store, which is close by. I'm guessing it's battery powered in some way? Considering what it does, probably uses a lot of battery power and drains it a lot like cameras do to batteries?
I'm pretty technically and computer savant and do well with these things, so I should be able to handle it. But, surprised I didn't know about a device like this that is so good for travel and convenient!
Great info and much obliged Pam!
Here's an example of one. You just charge it by plugging it in overnight, and then connect it to your phone when you need to charge your phone.
Glad you had a good experience with the car service. And what a beautiful resort! Loved seeing all the pictures! Glad you phone is all charged and your first day in the parks is underway!
Thanks for the info and link on this. Will look into it!

Quicksilver was great and was at the RP within an hour of landing in Orlando. RP is a great and beautiful resort and like it a lot. Glad you are enjoying the photos with so many more to come. Ready to attack the parks as my phone is charged. Hope to get an update up this weekend. More difficult this time of year with all the Christmas stuff. But it will come!

Wednesday, October 4th (Part III) It was 11:20 am and I was ready to head to the Universal Florida parks as I had everything I needed plus my phone was fully charged! I had asked at check in where I pick up a boat to Universal and was told to go to Tower 3 and take the elevator to the ground floor and left out the door by the elevators. They said it’s quite easy to find. I did this and there were signs outside to where to go for a boat.
r Pool at the Royal Pacific
While I was walking, my phone went off and it was a text from the Royal Pacific front desk. It said my room was ready! Go figure, but not turning back now! My room is #2224 and in Tower 2. One good thing is I have my key and wouldn’t have to do to the front desk like they do at the Disney resorts. I want to get to the parks! The plan for today was Islands of Adventure. Tomorrow will be Universal Studios, SeaWorld on Friday and my last day Saturday is anything else at Universal I didn’t get to yet as well as returning to some of my favorites.
When I got outside it was quite hot and humid and the norm for early October. I brought my poncho with me as there was a chance of showers and/or thunderstorms. Good to be prepared!
Where I was, when I received the text outside. I was hoping to dine here, but they were closed to the public on the day I wanted!
It only took a couple of minutes to get to the boat dock, so quite convenient. One thing you must do before getting on the boat is go through security. Better here than at the parks as the lines will be much longer. There were a few people waiting along with me and a boat arrived in just a couple of minutes. It seems they don’t depart until the boat fills up, but they’ll only wait a few minutes.
Like these boats. Better than those at Disney as they can maneuver much better.
Once the boat filled up, we were on our way to Universal Studios. It’s a short trip at about four or five minutes. There is a walking path from the Royal Pacific that takes about ten minutes, but I’d rather go by boat as more relaxing.
In the lake, across from the Royal Pacific Resort
Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal, which is the resort after the Royal Pacific
Shortly we were arriving at CityWalk, which is the location for boat arrivals and departures. The dock is located just below the NBC Sports restaurant and entertainment building.
I like the Colosseum of Rome look for the Hard Rock. This is the concert hall and not the resort.
Once we had docked, I got off and began to look for a certain place to have lunch. It wouldn’t be anything fancy and just counter service as I never have a big lunch on day one.
On CityWalk, just after arrival. This eatery is quite popular but the menu shows me very little. Although, their dessert menu looks good.
Another one of Emeril’s eateries here I was hoping to try and on day four. I have something else in mind, so it will have to wait!
I’m hoping to dine here on this trip as I love the menu and it’s received great reviews from many here. Especially Tara and Cheryl who both raved about it!
I’ve arrived at my lunch stop
The reviews have been very good for this counter service eatery with some very interesting, specialty hot dog combinations. The names of each are from various U.S. cities or locations. I checked out the menu above the ordering window and there were quite a few choices. These include the New York, Colorado, Boston and Chicago among them. It was tough to decide and I eventually went with the Kansas City Dog. They weren’t cheap at $9-$10 each with fries and no beverage which was extra.
While I was enjoying my lunch, it began to rain a bit, but not much as just a little more than sprinkles but enough to put on the poncho. It was over in about ten minutes or so and could then put the poncho away and hopefully for the rest of the day.
My Kansas City Dog with Pulled Pork, Cole Slaw, Barbeque Sauce and a Pickle.
It was very good and a great combo that worked so well with the different flavors. The hot dog had one of those classic snaps when you bite into it, which I love! One of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had and I’ve had many in my life!
Once I finished my lunch it was time to walk to Islands of Adventure and experience as many attractions as I could over the next four hours or so. It was only 12:15pm, so plenty of time to do a lot at Universal!
I arrived in just a few minutes at Islands of Adventure as it’s a pretty short walk. I scanned my paper ticket at the gate and was through. I made several copies of my ticket, just to be safe and always brought a spare with me.
The park was busy but not overly crowded. I was hoping to put my Unlimited Express Pass to good use, which came with my resort stay at Royal Pacific.
Just after the Port of Entry area and Marvel Super Hero Island section of the park
My first attraction and one of my favorites at IOA. It’s a simulator ride in which you don 3D glasses but a very good one and one of the best simulator attractions I’ve experienced I used my express pass but didn’t exactly need it as the line was short.
A good attraction but nothing special. It’s similar, to the Tea Cups in WDW’s Fantasyland
When I got off the ride I began walking towards the Incredible Hulk Coaster, which was close by. I checked my pockets to make sure I had everything and noticed my Galaxy Note 5 phone was missing! I ran back to Storm Force Accelatron to see if it was in the car I had been in. They had not let the next wave of people on yet. I knew what car I was in and luckily my phone was there! That was a close one!
Before, going on my next attraction I got some photos close by from the lake.
The Lost Continent at IOA
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which I’m looking forward to later!
Next on tap was the Incredible Hulk Coaster. Although, some of the twists, turns and inverts bother me a bit, I always brave it! It had a pretty long line at about 40 minutes, so the express pass certainly came in handy! One thing they required was to remove all loose articles from your pockets as well as chains and watches and put them in a locker. I got one close by and better yet as it was free rental!
Not exactly like Dumbo or the Carousel!
After scanning my ticket in the express pass line, I went to the top of the attraction queue and there were only a few people ahead of me and got on the Hulk Coaster almost immediately! It’s a great coaster and not for the timid. Quite an adrenalin rush, thrilling and a lot of fun!
After exiting the ride, I retrieved my belongings from my locker and walked in the direction toward the other areas of Islands of Adventure for more thrills and fun!
NEXT: At Least It Cooled Me Off!

Wow, that was a close call with your cell phone Thank goodness you found it. I'd say the park looks really empty from the photos you've shared so far. There certainly don't seem to be many people wandering around.
I enjoyed the boat when we stayed at RP. It's such a nice ride! We also did the walking path one morning when we were going to early entry at IoA. The park really looks empty this day!

Yes it was and glad I always remember to check my pockets after exiting a ride with all the jerking around and movements on many attractions as things can easily fall out! It's a bit empty this part of the park but get busier as I head deeper into it later. Although, the Hulk Coaster had a pretty long stand by line at 40 minutes.

Glad you noticed your phone missing and were able to retrieve it so quickly. The parks do not look that busy, about how they were in mid August.
I noticed it missing almost immediately and glad I found it. Just don't it to vanish by theft is what worries me. Not too busy in this part of the park but more so farther in.

Glad I got it back very fast as I checked rather soon! It shouldn't be too much more regarding the phone! Love the boat rides as so relaxing and my lunch was better than expected. Great CS fare!

I loved the boat ride so much and relaxing, even if just for a few minutes as it gets you some relief from the hot day. It's not as busy at USF as I expected and especially this part of the park with some popular attractions. Although, the Hulk Coaster had a pretty long wait. It gets busier farther into the park and on other days.
