The Promise of Spring: F&GF 4.0 UPDATED: 5/11 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I feel so bad for you with all of the ailments you have been suffering with lately and more coming on! I can't even imagine how you must feel, when your beloved Stephanie's birthday rolls around! There's really nothing I can say about this and hoping the pain gets easier each year, but at the same time just keeping all of the great memories you had with her and I know how much she enjoyed WDW! I remember the time when you surprised her with a WDW trip she knew nothing about! That was amazing and I know she was ecstatic over this! Don't want you to dwell on this too much.
Just hope you feel better soon and the last surge of winter doesn't cause too much aggravation for you! I haven't seen any blooming flowers here in CT as of yet, even though we've had some warm days this winter. Forecast for a few inches of snow Friday morning and possibly another one on Tuesday! Hope this is the end of it as I hate the cold! Glad the days get an hour longer starting Sunday!
I'm actually good, but for a moment I felt like venting. I love that there was at least one trip where we could surprise Stefanie, and she was totally amazed.
I had almost forgotten that the time change is this weekend. I love the longer days.

You guys are a hoot. Just a few ADRS [emoji851]. It works for me because I've been to so few of those places - I'll really look forward to your reports. Tiffins and ROL sounds like a particularly fun combo. Please have a zebra Dome for me at Boma.

I'm all caught up again. I love all of your ADR choices.
Big (((hugs)))). It sounds like you've been through it lately. Birthdays are hard when you've lost a child. And then to add the physical problems you've had lately, you deserve to vent.
Will your floater go away? That would honestly freak me out.
and tons of to you regarding Stephanie!! That little angel is surely watching over you!!
And more for your discomforts. Floaters are scary. Just make sure to keep a check on your blood pressure. I don't know about you, but I am not taking kindly to physically getting older.
Your flowers and Willow tree are both beautiful!! The winter has been a rollercoaster this year. We are experiencing the same here, just a little milder.
I lost my dear grandmother around the same date you lost Stefani. Last week on what would've been my grandma's birthday, my cousin posted a photo of her holding her favorite cake. Sadness overcame me and tears started rolling down my face. Grief never goes away but you learn to live with it. Stefani was a precious and special person, just like my grandma. In makes me happy to know that there are two beautiful angels in heaven, looking down on us.
Everyone needs to vent now and again (you know I do my fair share on FB, especially in the last 2 days).
Hope the aches and pains recede a bit. This weather is so strange. We have all our daffodils and Lenten roses in full bloom, and may get snow Sunday. We've bounced from 80, to 30, back up to 65, and will plummet back to 30's soon. Ugh.
While I like the extra daylight the time change brings, I find losing the hour a much harder adjustment than when we gain in the Fall.
I'm so glad we can be here for you when you are down. You do such a great job of lifting all of us up most of the time. Our spring has also been beautiful and extremely early. We are in limbo as to our weather Sat. night as well, possible freezing rain. It's not surprising as we've all been saying to beware! Take care of yourself and pamper yourself a bit while you dream of your upcoming trip to our happy place.

For me, it's November--my baby boy's birth/passing, my mom's passing. the blues just seem to still come around even now. <hugs> i know you have an awesome support system.
everything is blooming here and we are to get snow/ice this weekend. not much fun
The pussy willow tree across from the church is blooming as our the daffodils. Our yard only has the buds and lots of leaves for the early spring flowers up however it doesn't get morning sun, only afternoon so that could be part of it. Our temps keep jumping around & am having a negative effect on many plants & my allergies. I hope spring comes & stays soon.
I love the idea of longer days but the time change is quite hard on me & on my son's schedule. Took almost a month to adjust last year. Hope it is better this year but I am not very confident.

The flowers and trees are confused down in the south to. With this bipolar weather the pecan tree have bloomed and not sure if the pecans will even make it. I can say many people have already started with allergy issues. Looking forward to your next update!!!!!

I'm really looking forward to all our meals, and I can't wait for our dining package at Tiffins and then the ROL show later.

Thanks! The floater may or may not go away, but the doctor said I'd adapt to it.

Hang in there!! Better days are ahead!!
My blood pressure has been normal checked several times last week, but getting older (which floaters are a part of) is just full of "fun" health surprises. I'm still not looking forward to the cold weather returning tomorrow. Too bad I don't have a trip planted for Florida right now.

We've learned since our son died 34 years ago that we will get to wear the hurt has mellowed. But for now 5 years seems like both a long time and no time at all, so sometimes the sadness as you said just overcomes me.

Hugs for Stefanie's birthday. I still think about her often.
I love how your prints turned out and it reminds me that I have some i bought at Epcot that are still not framed.
Pixies for the floater. We're forecasting snow too and it's hard to wrap our mind around. It's in the 70s today.

We took a walk this afternoon and it felt so good with the sunshine and warmth. It is going to be strange tomorrow when it's just cold.
