Yes We're Taking the Baby & No, We're Not Crazy! PTR - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just as long as Chris leaves your clothes in the suitcase when he packs his one shirt, you'll be ok! I hope Owen will be so taken with all the sights and sounds of the parks he'll be content to sit still in the stroller most of the time.
At least Chris is thinking of one shirt Last vacation Brian waited until I hauled the suitcases into the bedroom (hours before we left because it was a surprise for the kids) to decide to go shopping because he wanted new shirts and needed a new bathing suit. Try finding a swim suit in Ohio in July
Yeah!!! Owen is mobile My younger two never crawled. Patrick started walking at 11 months and Cullen was a blob until...he learned to roll in both directions (close to 9 months). I hope things calm down so you can get more accomplished for the trip.

Single digits!! Good luck with the packing! And I think Chris will be doing laundry everyday if he doesn't find anything else he wants to pack.
Every trip we take, I always end up helping him at the last minute with his packing. He swears he can handle it and then it will be 11 pm the night before we leave and he is putting stuff in his suitcase. I'm seriously tempted to keep my mouth shut and just see what happens, but I don't want to spend the first part of our vacation shopping for things he forgot to bring.

I wish I could say they've slowed down, but it actually just picked up even more for me. On the bright side, the trip will get here a lot faster!

That's fair and then I'll live through you during your trip. I'm usually ready for another one as soon as we get home
Single digits! Whoop! Whoop!
Hope you can keep Owne contained so you can get some packing done! Good luck!
Thank you! I am going to just have to get the bulk of things done while he is napping. That should give me a solid 2 hours to tackle the bulk of the packing.

Laurie, you are so right! One good thing is that Owen loves being in his stroller at home and going for walks. I think we'll be ok there. I will need to do an inspection of the room though after we check in because I know he'll be crawling around in there.

hahahahaha so true! I'll make sure he has some bottoms on. He has the day off next Thursday, so I have already given him a "to do" list of things he HAS to get done before we leave that afternoon.

I have a feeling that there will be some shopping on Chris' end too. I mean in a closet full of shirts, he should know more than one he has to take. I'll handle that this weekend.

Welcome along and thank you! I don't think it's crazy either. Non-Disney addicts can just be so opinionated!
Well, I got some upsetting news yesterday afternoon. Sean's preschool graduation has been postponed due to the forecast calling for rain all day on Friday. His preschool isn't large enough to hold the ceremony inside, so they've rescheduled it for one of the days we are in Disney. I feel really awful for him because he has been really looking forward to the graduation. His teachers have been teaching them songs for a performance they were going to do up on the stage too. I called the school and explained we'll be out of town and they said he'll still get his diploma. They've already taken their graduation pictures, so at least I'll get a pic of him in his cap and gown. It's just not the same though and I know he will be really disappointed when he finds out.
This also puts a kink in my plans for getting things together. I was going to leave work at 12 pm on Friday so I could go to his graduation and then I was going to have Chris take the boys home while I used the rest of the day for pre-trip errands (goes by so much easier if you don't have kids with you). Now that the graduation is postponed, neither one of us is taking off work early on Friday. My new plan is to leave at 3 pm, pick up the boys and head home. When Chris gets home at 4:30, then he'll take over and I'll just head back out to go shopping.
Sean still doesn't know about the trip. We were going to tell him after graduation. He knows his graduation has been changed to a different date, but he doesn't have a clue that he won't be at the ceremony now. I am debating on waiting until we leave to tell him...that way maybe being surprised with Disney will help soften the blow of the graduation ceremony. I'm really not sure....
Oh, man. I hate that he will miss it, but maybe being at WDW will help with not being able to attend the ceremony. Just have to do something special for him while you are there!
Oh, that is tough. Maybe if you tell him he will be celebrating his graduation with Mickey things will be better. If you point out none of the other kids get that honor, I bet it will help. I hope you will be able to get stuff done. I know you have to be stressing about it! Hang in there hon! Thinking about you!
Well that pretty much stinks. I personally am not a fan of the preschool/kindergarten/elementary/middle school graduations, but that is just me. I know how much Sean was looking forward to the graduation and that puts you in a tough spot now. I think you should get him an "I'm Celebrating" button in Disney and celebrate it during the trip to make up for the loss of the ceremony. Hopefully, he will understand and will find the trip a better celebration.

What a shame! I hope he isn't too disappointed. Maybe you can put a good spin on it by saying how lucky he is to be having his graduation in Disney World and then having him wear a button. I'm glad they at least took the photos early.
