Wine, friendship, crème brulee and dinner on the Seine! COMPLETED - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

First - Hazel, I LOVE your purchases!!!! Might have to find one or two of those in July
The spring blossoms are beautiful but I hear you on the allergies, bummer those allergies have to get in the way of admiring!
Yep! Having been fine all day, I'm now sniffing away again and have had to take another Piriton. Oh well, at least I'm only taking them as and when required, rather than every four hours, so it could be worse...

Uh hmmm.......those baked goods........OH MY!!!!! I do hope they were as good as they look!!!!

Your breakfast on the train looked so good! I loved the pictures and architecture of Paris. It is always neat to see how the architecture goes from very Modern to Old World so quickly. It was also nice to see the pictures of green grass and cherry blossoms too as 8 more inches of snow fell at my house over the weekend.
Oh that is just nuts! I just checked, thinking you'd be in Alaska, but New York state - absolutely crazy! Doesn't the weather know it should be spring by now?

It's nice to know that Spring is somewhere. Lastly, I would be in so much trouble if I had that amazing bakery within walking distance to my house like Hazel does!
Hazel's Disney purchases are all so beautiful. We have the AKL/Kidani Village print in our newly redone safari bathroom. Like Laurie, it is so nice to see spring somewhere as none of our blooming trees are anywhere near blooming yet.
I seriously can't get over how bad the winter has been for you guys. I'd seen photos of snow on Facebook a couple of weeks back, but I didn't realise it was still so miserable.
Hazel, love the purchases you brought back from Disney!! Also I'm pretty sure your cat has a twin! He looks exactly like our cat here at the vet clinic!!
Sorry about your allergies getting in the way of enjoying the beautiful blossoms. All the baked goods look delicious

Well they say every human has a twin, so why not cats?
What a great afternoon that was just chilling and eating two of my favorite things. I think Graeme was a little jealous when the Sid the cat picked mark
all my Disney purchases are safely in Scotland. The prints are in the frame shop getting framed and I didn't like the bill but it will be well worth it. Graeme gets here this weekend and is going to hang the pictures for me.
I get internet tomorrow thank goodness as it is so hard keeping up with the boards
I am still popping piriton and my congestion I've been struggling with since October has all cleared up except Saturday she. I forgot to take it and felt awful all day so I think I'm definitely allergic to some thing. o

How funny - I thought exactly the same thing!

I thought they were going with you on this trip...

I can imagine, but you're right - it will be worth it.

Glad to hear you've got jobs ready for him to do...

I'd be going nuts without Internet... I was going nuts enough without a laptop...

I have actually been a lot better since I got back here. Last week, I only took about four or five, but this week, I've been popping a lot more.
By the way, I just realised that I mentioned about the laptop in the previous post and there is great news on that front. My old one got written off yesterday and I got a voucher for a brand new laptop of exactly the same specification. I actually ended up with a slightly better spec, as it's got a better processor. I am so glad I paid for the maintenance agreement, as it's more than paid for itself.
Saturday 22 March – part five: a momentous occasion!
We spent the rest of the afternoon just chilling. I couldn’t resist getting a few photos of the cat:
Of course, I couldn’t leave the dog out!
By now, the sky was darkening outside, and I have to be honest, I was getting a bit worried about this evening. It looked as if the forecast would sadly be right after all…
We were due to set off at around 6:00pm, as the instructions said to be at the quay “between 7:00pm and 8:15pm”, which was quite a wide ranging timescale. We decided that 7:30pm seemed to be a reasonable time to get there.
The problem was that Peter had gone out for the afternoon to see a friend and we really needed him back before he could leave. Hazel texted him to find out where he was, and he was on the train on the way back, but he still seemed to be a way out, so Graeme ended up going to pick him up from the station, but even before he left, I had a sneaking suspicion I knew what might happen. I nearly said to Hazel “you realise if he goes to get Peter, you won’t be able to get hold of Peter, then they’ll miss each other at the station”, and sure enough, that’s what happened.
In the meantime, Hazel was left in charge of dinner for Peter and Rory, a rare occurrence she told us, as apparently she hadn’t cooked in about 10 years, so of course I had to oblige and get some photos of this momentous occasion. I loved the way she was cooking all dressed up, and with cell phone in hand!
Look at the concentration on her face!
Finally, both Graeme and Peter made it home, and we were ready to go. We set off back to the car, which was still in the Carrefour car park. I do love this complex…
We headed out of the other side of the car park, which gave us the chance to see some new parts of the area that we hadn’t yet seen, including the town hall…
…the river…
… and then we were heading towards La Defense, where we’d be leaving the car to head into the city.
We parked up, and headed up to the ground level. The light was just starting to fade, and it was absolutely beautiful.

Sorry to hijack, Cheryl, but seeing the sweet cat and dog photos made me wonder..... How are the laws in Australia for pets coming from Europe? Do they have a long quarantine? Or are they not coming with you? The flights would be really tough for them.
Hope the rain stays away for your evening, but it doesn't look promising. Hazel looks very chic!
