Let's Start at the very beginning - PTR:August 17-31 2014 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Plans sound great! Don't forget the shopping & dining discounts that come with an AP too - I know you said TIW, but there are other perks too.
Evan is getting big! Love his outfit for Wacky Wednesday!
You've got some great plans for the first few days. I'm glad to hear Evan now likes the RFC. We have one here at the Mall of America. We took Cameron at just under 2 and had to leave because he was so upset. Tried again when he was closer to 3. We stayed the whole time, but he wasn't happy. I really like RFC though and would like to go back sometime.
Signing off on the PTR for the weekend. Evan has his musical at church on Sunday so tomorrow is rehearsal all morning followed by pizza party (which I'm in charge of) and then clean up and the big show is Sunday morning. I doubt I'll be on here until Monday. But I have the next update almost ready to go - just need to proof read it.

I like the idea of staying on one side of the park! Hope you can get everything done you are planning

This will be the first time attempt staying on one side/land. Usually we just run from place to place.

Have you had your son watch the Haunted Mansion movie? That might help?
I don't think he would watch the HM movie. He gets creeped out watching Scooby Doo!

I did the same thing - Good Luck to you!!

All of your plans sound great, I like the idea of just conquering one section of the park at a time. The less criss crossing you have to do the better, especially in the summer heat!
Good luck with getting a patio seat at R&C, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. If not, their VIP viewing area is great, that's where we watched from in August when we didn't get a patio seat.
That is good to know about the VIP viewing area but would still just LOVE to be able to watch from your table.

He loved getting into the spirit of things that day.

We had to sit on the perimerter at one point but last time HE requested we go there so I think we have crossed that hurdle - now to get him onto the Haunted Mansion......
Have a good weekend, Holly. I hope we'll get to see photos of Evan in the musical.

Thanks everyone - Evan's musical went great and so did the pizza party. He was really excited and he delivered his one line flawlessly - and you could hear him. He had a great time "directing" everyone at the pizza party too. I didn't get any pictures as I was setting up the party during the rehearsal but I did video the whole performance. And as luck would have it I arrived 30 minutes early, sat right up front, second row, saved a seat for my mom and about 10 seconds before the show started I get "Mr. Fat Head" sitting right in front of me. What bothers me is he was a guest, his child wasn't even in the show and then he didn't sit still, half of my video is me shifting back and forth as every time he moved, he would block my view. Of course I then get all aggravated at myself because I am in church and here I am getting all annoyed. WWJD???
Since we visited the Magic Kingdom and Epcot yesterday, today will be Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios day.
After a quick breakfast in the room, we will begin the day over at Animal Kingdom arriving at Rope Drop and then rides on Everest and Safari and Kali River and a stop in to visit Lilly.
Last trip I needed a rest room break while I was in the middle of PFET so I missed most of that and Evan was not tall enough for Everest so that will be a first for him (if brave enough). KRR will also be a first as last time we just couldn’t time it right.
I’d like to try out the new Wilderness Explorers either in Africa or Asia and see the Lion King show if it has reopened – it is scheduled to. I didn’t care for this show the first time I saw it(1998). It isn’t my favorite movie and I think it was so over hyped. I liked it OK but nothing I’d rush back for. I saw it again on my last trip and enjoyed it so much more so it is back on my list. Hopefully it will be just as entertaining in its new location. I think this will be new for Eric.
We will have a counter service lunch and then see if we still have time and energy for anything we missed…Flights of Wonder, more Wilderness Explorers, Discovery Island Trails, second trip on EE or the safari or a walk through the Maharaja Jungle Trek.
If we last this long we will head out around 2pm for our afternoon break. AK is just so hot so I’m not sure we will make 2pm or get everything done since we may be melting before then.
After the break it will be an evening at the Studios. I hope to arrive at the studios in time to see the 5pm-ish showing of the Indiana Jones show. Evan really liked this last trip and is on his must do list. I’m not sure if Eric saw it. Personally I think this is in desperate need of an update.
We have dinner at 50’s Prime Time Café at 7pm so I’m hoping that after the Indy show we can still meet Lightning and Mater or Phineas and Ferb or Buzz and Woody before dinner. I’m not sure how late in the day any of them meet or what the lines will be like but if we can check one of them off the list, that would be cool. I think they will all be firsts for all of us other than McQueen and Mater – Evan’s all-time favorite is McQueen and has been since he was about 2 years old.
I’m really excited about dinner at the 50’sPTC. It has been a really long time since I have eaten here. It will be new for Mom, Evan and Eric. We had it scheduled last 2 trips but had to cancel, hopefully 3rd times a charm. I think the boys will like the crazy cast member interaction and the TV’s at the tables. Me, I can’t wait for the milkshakes.
I’m also praying that they open up a second showing of Fantasmic! for this night. As of right now they just have an 8:30 show. I really wanted to be able to go do a few things during the 8:30 show and then head over to catch the second showing of F! at 10pm. So send some pixies my way please. If we miss Fantasmic tonight because of dinner we will have to try for another night. We missed it completely last trip but I LOVE this show and it will be new to both boys
Firsts:
Evan – Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, Wilderness Explorers, Flights of Wonder, LK show in new location, Meet and Greets (B&W and P&F), Fantasmic and 50’s Prime Time Cafe
Me – Wilderness Explorers, LK show in new location, Meets (P&F)
Mom – Wilderness Explorers, LK show in new location, Meets (B&W,P&F), 50’s PTC
Eric – Kali River Rapids?, Wilderness Explorers, Lion King, Flights of Wonder, Maharajah Jungle Trek, Meet and Greets (all 3), Fantasmic and 50’s Prime Time Café
