"Yes, The Past Can Hurt, But You Can Either Run From It or You Can Learn From It" - PTR - COMPLETED 9/20 #184 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just joined in and everything sounds awesome! I so hope to be able to do the dessert party myself. I'm jealous of the bands I wonder how it will work for AP holders as I totally want one!
My original plan was to delete the Chef Mickey’s for Thursday, since it was scheduled at 7:20 and go with the 7:40 on Tuesday, which would give us a few more minutes in the morning to get ready. So, with that in mind I canceled our Thursday’s CM. I felt somewhat satisfy with my decision….but even this arrangement didn’t set quite right and left me with a nagging feeling. I had already scheduled fast pass+ that day for our morning at HS. My two concerns was first, making sure we arrived there on time and my second concern was in regards to the noise levels of CM and whether Joshua would be able to handle all the stimuli of a very noisy and crowded restaurant.
While I hate missing out on having breakfast at Chef Mickey’s, I felt it was in my son’s best interest. Now, I had to find a replacement for this ADR. I decided to see what MDE had available for that Tuesday and I was totally shocked to find the following ADR available:
Hollywood and Vine at 8:15
My eyes couldn’t believe what they were seeing! This was the perfect answer to where we going to have breakfast that day. Now my family and I get a chance to enter HS before it opens up and maybe will be able to have some nice family pictures taken before we sit down to eat.
I told my husband all my ADR scheduling is complete, other than trying for the covet BOG, which I’m still hoping for, but if it doesn’t happen, that’s fine too….gives me a reason for going back again!
Yeah! All caught up! You are so close now! And woo hoo on the magic bands! Can't wait to hear more! We don't go until May, and I love reading everyone trip reports and planning experiences!

I believe MB for AP holders would work the same. I think the hardest part is being limited to only 3 fastpass selections for one park. It's going to make it more difficult for those who enjoy park hopping.

The last time we were there, I didn't do my homework, and I couldn't remember OSO, which Joshua enjoyed meeting and was a little upset when I couldn't make proper introductions.

thanks for joining in...I'm going to posting more later. I too enjoy reading the TR, so much fun and useful information.
So, now we have just three weeks left before we head off to the “Bubble”. Joshua first week back to school went off without a hitch and enjoyed seeing his friends and staff at the after school program. We have noticed over the last few months, Joshua anxiety level becoming worse, so on his last doctor’s appointment, we decided to wean him off Prozac, which he’s been on since 8 and is now at the maximum amount for his age, and start him on Lexapro. This medication has shown better results for teenagers with autism, who suffer from social anxiety, so for the next 10 day, we will be slowly switching him over and if all goes well he should be able to handle the crowds better at Disney.
In the meantime, Elmo, our 8 year old Maine Coon Mix has become very sick over the couple of weeks. We took him to the vet due to being constipated and was placed on medicines, however it doesn’t seem to be working and on top of that he’s refusing to eat, which is not good either. He’s just drinking water and keeps trying to go to the litter box. He’s a He’s gone from weighing 26 lbs to around 18lbs, so while he did need to lose a little weight, this is not what we had in mind. So, we had to bring him back for a recheck at the vets. At this point they had to take an X-ray, which cost us $280. It was determined that his colon had a complete blockage, so they had to place him under a local so they could go break up the blockage in his colon…which cost us a few more hundred dollars. So, while we won't be picking up much at Disney gift shops, at least he feels much better. I really hate seeing him miserable and I was getting worried that he was going to take a turn for the worse before we went on vacation. Hopefully his appetite will follow in a few days.
I’m still in the process of putting together my checklist of what to take on this trip. At this point, I still have to buy an extra car charger for our phones, I-pad, and GPS. I’m also thinking about investing in a Trent, since our phones don’t seem to hold charges for very long. My car is in desperate need of detailing, which William graciously said he would take care of and hopefully soon. I hate to say, but I’m a procrastinator and will probably rush around packing everything the night before, so having a clean car will help tremendously.
We usually go the same week of September that you're going and the crowds are minimal.
Layla (my dog in my sig pic) had a stomach blockage last month. She needed surgery to remove it but luckily she kept all of her intestines. A friend of mine just had their dog lose almost their entire large and small intestine after a blockage. They're scary! Layla started feeling better a few days later so hopefully your cat will be back to his normal self soon too.
I LOVE the dessert party and can't wait to go back.
I think it's interesting that Dinosaur isn't too much stimulation for Joshua. Unless you didn't mean he would ride also? That's an intense ride but I love it
I'm sorry to hear about your HSBC issues. We've had some also. Companies don't seem to want to help people at all and it's very sad.

Glad Joshua is enjoying his return to school and hope the med switch works very well for him! Good luck with the packing. Thank goodness you were able to find out your dog's problem, too.

Looking forward to reading more!!
I'm glad to hear Layla made a full recovery. My cat seems to be doing a little better this morning, but still doesn't have an appetite but he at least is drinking lots of water, so hopefully in the next couple of days he'll feel like eating. My DH gave him a little bit of fancy feast this evening and ate just a few bites.
Joshua loves anything that moves fast, we found out he is hyposensitive and craves things like this. He has social anxiety, so people crowding him makes him nervous, so hopefully using the fastpass+ should help. We also use the GAC, but right now I don't want to rely on it, since I'm not sure how it will be utilized in the near future.

Thanks. I had to revamp my plans after finding out we were selected for fastpass+ and MB.

Thanks for the pixies. So, far the switch over for Joshua's meds is going smoothly. We're going to be cutting back another prozac, which will leave him with one prozac capsule and 1/2 tablet of Lexapro, so we'll see how it goes this week this is usually where one might see some changes. For the packing we're looking at buying some packing cubes, but I want to see how big they are, so we're going take a drive over to REI to check them out. I don't have much space in the trunk of my Hyundai Elantra, so we're hoping these will do the trick, versus using a suitcase.
I have enjoyed reading your PTR, especially since I am thinking of doing my first one also. That and my DS is autistic so I TOTALLY understand the meltdowns, changing plans, missing ADR's, etc. Good luck with the switch to Lexapro, I hope his anxiety lessens especially in time for WDW. My DS is the opposite of Joshua: he likes calm, non-dark, slow rides. If it was up to him we would spend all of our time on Spaceship Earth, lol. That and he LOVES to stand at the bottom of Splash Mountain to hear/see the people scream as they come down the flume. S jealous of your Magic Bands btw!!
I’m slowwwly starting to work on my agenda of getting things ready for our trip. I down loaded the latest map updates to my Garmin and created custom triptiks on AAA website as a backup just in case we lose our GPS signal. I ordered some trick or treat bags off of Disneymovieclub that actually matches the shirts we’ll be wearing at MNSSHP. They are little bit on the small side, but that’s ok we’re not big on candy.
A few months ago, I applied and received a Shell Gas Card, which the intention of using it only for our upcoming trip, so I put away for safe keeping. In fact I did such a good job, I couldn’t remember where I placed it. It wasn’t where I thought it should be, so I called the credit card company and requested a replacement. No sooner do I get off the phone and go over to the desk drawer, where I thought it should be and I see an envelope sticking out the backside against the wall…yep it was there the whole time.
Last Saturday, Joshua sat down on his bed and broke one of favorite DVD’s, which he had forgot to put back in its case. He felt really bad and kept apologizing. I told him not to worry and that it was just a freak accident. I knew he was going to want it replaced and since I had to get a few items at Target, I told him he go with me to buy a replacement DVD. Normally, when we go to Target, Joshua doesn’t like standing in line with me and will usually will go and stand near the automatic doors and just sit and watch them open and close. This time I wanted him to work on standing and waiting his turn at the checkout, since this is something he will have do, especially if he going on any Disney rides. So, I looked for the shortest line and told him that we were going to checkout #5. He looked up and saw where checkout #5 was and got in line with me and then asked if he could get a drink of water when we were done with the line. I couldn’t believe it…I was just expecting him to take off and the fact that he stood there and waited his turn made me feel so proud! Now while we were patiently waiting our turn, Joshua noticed the little snack display and asked if he could get a little bag of goldfish crackers. I told him that was fine and as he bent over to pick them off the bottom shelf….He goes and does a nice impersonation of everyone’s favorite character from the Lion King….Pumba! I felt so sorry for the person standing behind him and had to do my best not to laugh. Luckily, we were next and I quickly placed the items on the belt and we got our stuff and went home to relax for the rest of the day.
