The "I-can't-think-of-a-cool-catchy-title-for-this-PTR" PTR - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Geesh...sounds like a lot of craziness with your flights, but great news that Delta gave you each a $300 credit! Glad you got everything worked out. That has to be a load off your mind...and you get an extra day at WDW to boot

It was a bit crazy back and forth on the phone to Delta and Disney. But, it did work out for us. Some Delta 'cash' and some more free Food!!!!

Well, not only did they change our flight times -- but canceled one completely and didn't even tell us! I was on the phone for an hour trying to get us on another flight. We were finally successful, but our family couldn't sit together - and we got no compensation for our troubles. (In retrospect, I should have asked.) Glad you made out so well. An extra day in the World, more free dining and a free flights for next year sounds pretty darn good to me!!!
How could they cancel and not even tell you...wow!! At least they emailed us. And of course they called us to give up our seats because they needed us.

It's really only a few extra hours in Disney cause we'll have to get to bed early. Our flight is 7:35am so I assume DME will be picking us up at o'dark thirty.

I agree with you there is no way that I would fly without sitting with my family. We always fly Jetblue and luckily have never had that kind of problem. I am glad that it all finally worked out for you, non-stop flight, seats together, extra day and more free dining, Awesome!!!
We love it in OC too, we go every year for the last two weeks of August, unfortunately we did have to evacuate on Friday but came back late Monday. We only live 2 1/2 hours away so it wasn't that bad and yes it was very nice there after we returned.
That was a big issue to me. Why would you separate a minor from his parent. Maybe their grand plan was to make it so we HAD to give up our seats.
We've actually gone down to OC just for the day before because it's just our favorite Jersey beach ever! We're just about 1 1/2ish hours away from OC.

Excited and stressed!!! I really feel so unprepared for this trip. I still have so many little things to do. And I have to still make 2 Halloween costumes and just started cutting them out last night.

Relieved and glad that saga is over. Any extra time in Disney is just fine with me.

They are forever changing their non-stops to layovers at Atlanta. We just can do that with Stefanie as it's too much walking.
We probably wouldn't have flown Delta again...especially if my friend came through with the 'sale' date for the Continental flights. But, if they're going to pay for our flights for next year, we'll fly Delta. Hey, maybe they'll screw us up again next year and we can make this a regular routine.

Man what a roller coaster it was to get caught up! Free Dining! Airfare for next year too! Awesome Dawn! And you can continue to borrow my ideas - as long as I get to borrow something from you sometime.
We're almost there! Are you feeling as unprepared and overwhelmed as I am??? Just nod and smile even if you're not I'm thinking we'll probably see you at CMC on Sunday morning, but if not, hopefully we can plan a meet at DHS on the 10th for the Osbourne Lights
OK, My head hurts after reading all that drama. WTH?? I'm really happy that in the end it all worked out. Free flights for next year ( end of September what what??) and an extra day at the lovely BC!!!
I've seen you around the boards and just thought I'd jump in. You have a lovely family, and I'm sure you're getting really excited for your trip!
Welcome aboard!! So glad you hopped on. Thank you so much, and yes...excited and stressed and excited!

Jenn...I am completely unprepared!! I feel like there is just so much to get ready for the trip, and then Halloween is thrown in there and I've only cut out the pattern pieces...now I've got to start sewing! We'll be stressed together, but soon we'll be in the bubble.

You're head??!! My ear was on fire (because of course that day our house phone decided not to work and I was on my cell) And yes...it did work out. I saw on your TR that you got a BB BUT you were supposed to go for Jersey Week next year .
Okay…we leave in 10 days and I am woefully behind on this PTR. Things were crazy the past two weeks and we had a couple of unexpected doctor appointments and a trip to the ER thrown in for good measure. Everyone is fine, but it all just cut into what little prep time I have left. Feelin’ the stress!! So, I’ll have to jam a couple of updates in a day to get all of the plans up before we go and start doing the plans So without further adieu, I’ll begin with our plans.
Friday 11/4:
We will wake up at the crack of…never mind ...we will wake up at o’dark thirty (Jason assures me he is going to pop right out of bed and he’s been making me practice with him) and hop in the van and everyone but Craig will go back to sleep We’ll pack a little something for breakfast and let the boys snack in the car. We have a reservation at a parking lot shuttle service we’ve used before so we’ll park there and head to JFK for our flight. We should arrive in MCO at 11:15am and we’ll catch DME for the BC.
We don’t have any big plans this day except to head over to Epcot for dinner at R&C at 6:45 (a first for us and I'm really looking forward to those fish & chips) So, we’ll see what the boys want to do while we wait for our room to be ready. We’ll just be happy to be back in the bubble after two years away.
Oh yeah…I’m also way behind on the trivia, so I’ll throw a couple in here and there. (My hat’s off to those of you who are so good at keeping up with PTRs and TRs, I’m feeling kind of lame )
