Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Disney therapy

Since we are under 90 days(feels like 900) I can start to think about "really" going. I start pre-packing the bags we are going to take, and start to figure out specific clothing things like breaking in shoes, wearing new jeans so they feel less like newat the parks, ect. I also start gathering up my tshirts, and get things specifically from Detroit. I am proud to be from Motown and always like to show that there are more than thugs, ect.that live here.
When we're atWDW its all about organization and speed in getting your things ready to go without much fuss.
I think we are a little over zelous, then I read some other posts and we are kind of tame by comparrison.More later, time to get back onstage!

Sorry I'm late with this, but Chuck Welcome to the Boards! It sounds like you guys have everything almost squared away. I know you have a bunch of meals left to plan. When we've done the DxDP we have done a late breakfast/early lunch and then a signature dining experience in the evening. For example we'd do a character breakfast at Crystal Palace at 10:30 and then the 5:45 Hoop De Doo Review or an 11:30 lunch at Tutto Italia and an 8pm dinner at Narcoossee's! It worked out really well for us! Good luck figuring out the rest of your plans! Just so you know--CS restaurants aren't very good uses of your DxDP credits.

Not a lot to report today. Just finished my work week and today is my "burn out day" as dubbed by DH. It just means I get a day to myself, no expectations, no responsibilities. DH started this because I work 36 hours in 3 days and I needed to recover. DH lets me sleep in with no alarm, get up have coffee, do whatever I want then maybe take a nap. Afterward, he brings home subs or grills chicken or something for dinner so I don't have to cook. Then he cleans up. Yes, I am spoiled! Treats me like a queen - . Just LOVE that man! Although, since he is at rehearsal today, I'm on my own for dinner. I think I can manage though. Not like I will starve or waste away. I'm thinking veggies, rotisserie chicken and a glass of wine sounds good.

Anyhow, Meg goes to the vet tomorrow and her wounds are healing nicely! I expect that the vet will be happy with her progress. Then Friday I have to take the car in for yearly maintenance.

I am also feeling the need to cook. I make my own pasta and am thinking about making homemade lasagna to freeze for dinners. Also I make homemade eggrolls and want to make a batch as well. Only problem is - I'm running out of freezer space. Last week I made white chili and the week before I made chicken and dumplings. All of which I made extra to freeze for lunches/dinners. (I cook for a army! ) We shall see. These things may have to wait until we clear out the freezer but that's ok.

I am planning on ordering the gps/phone holder for my car this week. Also need to order my swimsuit. The one I like is from a catalogue where I bought my last one. I really hate swimsuit/clothes shopping and this makes it much easier. Being a "larger" woman, I find that most clothes etc for us make us look like we have just given up. I have found nothing with any style. Everything is either from mail order or at a super expensive specialty shop like Lane Bryant. Now, I'm older and don't expect or even want to wear what kids (20-30 year olds) are wearing. I just want to look classy not upholstered. I want to wear my clothes. I don't want my clothes to wear me.

Sorry that was a mini rant. (To go with my "mini" theme? hahaha)

Enough for today. Tomorrow a vet update.

“Laughter is America's most important export.” - Walt Disney
Aww...your Chuck is a sweetie! That is so nice of him to give you that 'burn out' day. You deserve it working that schedule, my lawd!

Can't wait to hear about Meg's A+ vet visit!

Need to get rid of some of your awesome sounding food, 2 words for you....DRY ICE....to mail stuff to me!

I hear you about clothes. I feel the same way. For the first time in years I actually have a suit that I like. My Gram bought it at Sears for me (Lands End section) omg, probably 4 years ago now. Oh well, I don't wear it often so it looks brandy new.

I think you started at just the right time for this PTR. Also, about the cat hair...believe me I understand, I always tell my DH that "I love my cats more than I hate their hair"

90 days! Good thinking breaking in everything, even your jeans. Make them more comfy, instead of stiff when you first buy them.
My DH would think it's great your from Detroit. He would say "Detroit Rock City!!!" He loves KISS.

I agree about organization, I want to be up and out of the room in the mornings, no fuss. I don't think your overzealous at all, we are all in good company here on the board with our WDW OCD.

Hope you have great shows! How much fun is that? Does Coop come to one of your shows? What show are you doing? Sorry for the 20 ques. I am just interested to know about your thespianism.

Here's hoping you get good news from the vet about Meg. Your Lilly reminds me of both of our present cats but looks like our scardied cat Tommie Chester is the worlds biggest target for Preperation H on the planet he deliberately sets out to see what kind of trouble he can get into. Chubbbs on the other hand only wants you to know about her when she wants Like when she thinks its time for daily dose of cannewd food

Funny thing about Kiss, one of their first BIG shows was in the city we live in now(Wyandotte).More music about Detroit(big fan here) In the song "Don't stop Believing" They sing.. "Born and raised in South Detroit" HAHA. There is no South Detroit. In all reality South Detroit is Windsor, Canada.
ANYWAY thanks for all the responses to Coops posts! As far as my show,it is "Shenandoah" a musical based on the famous movie.I only have a few small parts, and I sing and dance in the opening. Our Son has a really big role as he is "Nathan" one of the Anderson brothers. He is really the thespian in the family. Coop is very supportive.I couldn't do anything like this if she wasn't supportive. The time involved is INSANE at times. After working 7am-5pm I rush over to the theater, rehearse till 11 or so,then race home to hurry up and sleep. It's not all fun,but it is really nice when a show comes together.

Wow, that is something I never knew that about that Journey song. Which I love, so I do know that line!
Your play sounds like some work, but I am sure it's tons of fun too. Your not just acting but singing and dancing too! I'm sure it will be great!

Also, no need to give thanks for responding to Coop...I just her and have had a great time talking with and getting to know her. Glad you came aboard and I am now talking with the man I have heard so many wonderful things about from Coop.

You're not late - I'm early! That's kind of how we were planning things. I just figure that even if we eat at a nice TS per day or sig, that plus a CS or another TS and 2 snacks should be more than $80/pp/day. Sometimes one sig is $80 pp alone! That definitely makes it worth it.

I hear this every time we hear "Don't Stop Believing". Canada is the first country south of the US because it wraps around the thumb of Michigan.

Vet update -

Meg is healing. The swelling is less and not involving her muscle any more. (that was what I was really worried about. I didn't want an abcess (infection) involving her muscle that could cause her to go septic (a blood infection throughout her entire body)). She needs to finish her antibiotics and they put her on more steroids. But other than that - she's in the clear!

As far a DH and the play - he brought home his costume because he needed to "dirty it up" He plays a train engineer and needed to dirty his bib overall with charcoal. There is charcoal everywhere. My bathtub is grey now. And the fumes from the cleansers are choking me out! I opened up all the windows! (I have a difficult time with chemical fumes. That is another long story I may grace you with later.) Anyone know how to get charcoal stains out of a tub?

Nothing new on the Disney front. Just daily life here today. Thought ya'll may want to know about Meg though. I also needed to update today so I can continue with "Wisdom by Walt"

“A man should never neglect his family for business.” - Walt Disney

Glad to hear Meg's doing better!

I would love to be doing theater again...I used to do high school musicals before High School Musical, lol! I love that Chuck and Nathan are doing things they love!

Enjoy your "days off" and looking forward to your next updates and quotes!

Glad Meg is better. I'm a fan of soft scrub (the foam spray seems to work best for me over the gel)!

I am so happy to read that Meg is healing! Continued pixies for her!!
For a more natural cleaner, try lemon juice, vinegar and a little dish soap. Mix them together and then spray it in the tub. Scrub it with a Mr. Eraser. I don't know if it will work on charcoal, but I have done this for other types of stains in cleaning.

Yay for Meg!!!

For cleansers, I am a huge oxyclean fan, make some paste with water and see what it does. I too and VERY sensitive to chemical smells. Have you tried Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products? She has a website and I've seen them in BiLo supermarkets here in SC.
