Mad as a Hatter or Fidel Goes to Disney Trip Report Complete 9/27/10 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay, I had subscribed to I could catch up and I just read the whole PTR. I spent my 40th there in 2008 and Loved it!! Your 30th will be Fab!
I too have done the sky diving, bungee jumping, cliff diving thing...now I have kids and I'm not allowed But, I have to draw the line at tatoos...I am a big baby.
Would love to try Narcoossee's on a future trip. I've only heard good things about it.
So, when you left your bathing suit in Vegas, you weren't wearing...were you???
And yes, you can get into IG in the morning they just have the bridge to France roped off. And like Cam and Kelly said, it's so nice to walk through GB and Canada with hardly a person in sight. Great picture taking time.

.
I've been to Narcoossee's and loved it--I'm sure you will too!
No leaving the bathing suit in Vegas was part of a disaster morning. We overslept and I literally threw everything in a suitcase and rushed out we were almost late for spa appointments-- I think I left my bathing suit in a locker at Qua -- the spa in Caesar's Palace because we were already packed up for the day and I didn't want to put it damp in my purse. I had purchased said bathing suit at the end of season Walmart clearance so I think it was $10. No big deal!
Looking at the DVC website, all of the rooms are supposed to have a toaster in them and I remember even the studios having them. Did they take them out??

Finally all caught up. I can't believe you didn't let Brandon plan the trip!!! I remember your original post letting us know that he'd be needing our help! But it sounds like you have some great plans for yourself. I think Citrico's is a great birthday restaurant . . . DH celebrated his birthday there the other year.
side note to Sharon . . . I'm another November birthday person that hasn't gotten to spend their birthday at WDW. I'm the only one in my family who hasn't been to WDW on his/her birthday.
Glad to hear you're getting your disposable sunglasses for your trip Heather. Good idea seeing if Blake owns a suitcase before it's too late. Getting closer by the day.
I went through the online check in process . . . added my Disney CheckCard to the reservation and double checked that my birthday was noted on the reservation. It has apparently been "noted" every time I've called member services about this trip. There are THREE notes that its my birthday! Once for the original reservation at AKV, once to move it to the Beach Club and once when I added DME. (You can't take them off online--but I'm not worried about overkill--I want a great view) By my count we're only 9 days from disney--I don't count today or departure day. In an hour and 20 minutes we'll be 8 days from Disney!
Have not started packing. Still have not decided about suitcases. Procrastinating. I have two more days off this week. I'll get it done on Thursday.

I'm doing laundry so I'm back . . . I can't decide what shirts to pack. A lot of my Disney shirts are a little bit faded. I don't think they'll look snazzy in photos. I'm for sure taking the new "Off with His Head" shirt, but most of my newer cute/funny shirts are not Disney related. Today for example I'm wearing this beauty: Woot® : One Day, One Deal™
You are on your way Heather....see I like your way of thinking, I am the same way, never count the travel day or the day I am in when counting down the days, just makes the trip even closer

I started thinking about things I was most excited about. And I discovered something I wasn't excited about: the dinner menu at Kona Cafe . . . so I changed Friday dinner after conferring with Brandon. Friday dinner (yes you can change your dinner reservations at a week out with some success depending on what you're looking for) is now a Flying Fish Cafe--the appetizer menu looks awesome and we remember the crab cake being really good!
So now things that we are most excited about:
Brandon is most excited about not being at work for 6 days. I know, I know--where is his list . . . he doesn't have one--he's just really glad to be going on vacation.
Blake is at work--so I can't ask him (yes everyone--thank goodness Blake has a job --having an unemployed teenager in the house was really draining the finances. And yes, he's still at work at 3am--he's working as a barback on Bourbon St)
I am excited for several things!
First stay at the Beach Club Villas. (Which Brandon has deemed out of place in Central Florida--they look like a yankee beach resort--yup they sure do)
I am super excited to see Captain EO again
I am extra super excited for Summernightastic an the Main Street Electrical Parade!
I cannot wait for arancini at Citricos! Yummy!
I am all ready to see my PP buddies Sharon and Wendy!
When I saw this, I thought, HEY I can check in too!! Then I rememeber I'm actually one day behind you, but that means I can check in tomorrow!!
I cannot wait to see you either! I'm bummed that I miss Sharon yet again..........unless we run into one another.............which we so totally should. She should meet my son cause he's ADORABLE. He's got a killer smile and eyes that'll melt you................... And my mama is awesome.
You are going to the BCV. At least I hope you do because it is my home. Although I warn you, the water is really too warm to cool you down, so Stormalong Bay may not be refreshing!!!
