August and Everything After WDW - Trip Report - Thread 2 **Updated 11/1** COMPLETE - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love your breakfast shots. Nice KISSES from your big blue guy. Was he wiping it off or rubbing it in? Your new motion pics really add to the excitement of the TR. Bring on some more.

It was more of a slurppy kiss, so I think he was wiping the drool (He must have the Andy disease.... remember the drool Everest story from May?.... )
Great update Melissa! I loved breakfast at Ohana! Its the one character breakfast that I will fight for . . . Brandon believes he has been subjected to enough harassment and not enough coffee at Disney's breakfast buffets. (But he still hasn't been to Chef Mickey's yet . . . or Crystal Palace)
Yippee!!! Andy's here to add his oh so funny two cents...
WHOOOOHOOOOYIPPPYYOWYOWYOW!!!
oooook
So, after 'Ohana we hopped the monorail to Epcot, wait, I already told you this part....... so we were at Epcot at the end of the last part....sorry.
Since we were there right after opening we headed to Soarin' to grab FPs for later. Then we crossed over to Test Track and waited in line. I don't remember what the wait time said..... but our wait was only like 20 minutes or so, if that long. Andy keeps saying (and said it while we were there, a lot) "That's the first time we rode since like......" and then I interrupt him and say "March"... we rode it in March just not the May trip..... duh!
Well that was the $h1tty trip that I blocked from my memory... and I think the trip before that we didn't ......oh no wait, that was the trip with my parents and we rode it with my dad. Maybe I was just really let down that we didn't get to do it in May.
Yeah....ok. Whatever....
So how does Melissa kill time in line??? she takes pointless photos..
Andy, still sportin' his lei.
When we got up to the "waiting room"
The "briefing room" cause that's what's happening, you're getting debriefed.
ooooh, so I guess you would call it the "debriefing room"
I don't even know if briefing is a word.....heck if you say briefing too many times in a row it starts to sound really screwed up, and if you say brief you think of underwear......... so I guess debriefing means taking your underwear off..
Maybe I should do this myself.........
MOVING ON..... as I was saying, when we got to the room area, I noticed something rather odd......very out of place, unless Test Track had gotten a refurb that we never heard about..
Yes, those are 3D glasses folks......
Start some rumors.... "Are they gonna turn TT into 3D??"
So, we've yet to figure out why those were there.....
After a fun ride on TT, we headed over to try Ellen's Energy Adventure since this was something we had never done before. Well I hadn't......had you?
I don't remember ever doing it.....
Anyway, we got over there a little before the next show so we hung around outside.
You did some pin trading in line.... you snagged that Stitch in his rocket ship pin.
ooooh yeaaaah... I remember that. Pictures in line again..
You rarely see photos of just me I think...... and this one is good reason why.... UGH!! I look sort of squat....
You usually stick your head up and out....this time you stuck it down and in.... Like a turtle
Thanks for that boost of self esteem.....a$$!
So we finally get in and we get the many warnings of "This ride is 40 (or however many minutes) long and there is no exit blah blah yada yada yada". I thought the little show at the beginning was hilarious.
Except for the one blurry screen right in the middle!
Yeah that kind of sucked..... but...I still enjoyed it. Then again, I think Ellen is a freaking comic genious. She cracks me up. I honestly had NO idea what to expect on this..... we took a seat up on the third row of the far right car/seat/thing...
church pew...
It was like a pew.... now Andy is yelling "PEW" at the cats
So we get going, through the dino section......and yeah, Melissa made a fool out of herself here. When we were leaving the dino section, I was being my stupid self, talking to the dino-atromics... one big fellow was staring right at me. He was drooling. He had drool coming out of his mouth. And right as I said to him that he had a drool problem he blew steam out and since he was staring right at me and I was staring right him, and I wasn't expect the dino-atromic to actually do anything, I screamed out loud like a little scared kid. So much so, that the people around us turned and looked.... and laughed Hey, at least I can laugh at it, too. Because it was funny.
If that thing scared you, Dinosaur at the AK must give you a heart attack...
Hey, it was entertaining. So we continued on and I thought it was really cute. I liked the Jeopardy bit, and I liked that Jaime Lee Curtis was on it since I am obsessed with Halloween (which will be coming on TV like all the time very soon!!!) I'm glad we decided to do it.
After it was over we still had time before our Soarin' FPs so we decided to go to Club Cool and get some free soda. Or as Pom says "Stick it to the mouse"!
After Club Cool we headed over to the Land. Our FP time was coming up in a few minutes. But we got side tracked..... you know how you have to walk past the Garden Grill to go down the steps... well... the GG reached out and smacked me. I just kept thinking about how there wasn't going to be anymore lunch soon. So despite stuffing ourselves full of food and characters at breakfast I asked Andy what he thought the chances of getting into the GG would be. So we figured why not ask. Ask, and ye shall receive. They pretty much told us we would be seated in about 15 minutes. The restaurant had just opened. So it was like 11, we had just finished breakfast at like 9. I think it was here we coined the term "Disney stomach". One has a "Disney stomach" whilst at WDW..... that means that one can eat ANYTHING at ANYTIME no matter what. And my Disney stomach ate and ate and ate this trip! (and I think it followed me home for the first few days.....)
So while we waited to be seated.... Andy spotted the little machine that makes tags. And there was a dogbone one with Stitch on it. And I had to get it! So I had it engraved with Loflin on it so I could put it on my work lanyard.
And we put that thing on our debit card.... and it took like 3 - 4 weeks to finally clear....just an FYI.
Nice. Andy took a picture of me playing...
While I was watching it engrave (I thought that was totally cool, but I don't think Andy was as impressed) our buzzer went off.
We were seated and placed our drink order and pretty soon, we had visitors!
As you can see in this picture, Dale really snuck up on Andy I watched him creep over and grab him, hilarious!!!
Then I got me some Dale
I always tell him he's my fav!
Then you turn around and tell Chip the same thing..
No I don't!!! I do like Dale the best.... he seems to be a little.... off....ya know what I'm saying? I appreciate that about him.
Then Pluto came around..
Andy got a little unruly with Pluto...
Flicking his whiskers....... what a meanie!!
Then Chip came to visit...
And then our buddy Dale was back...
And I think our buddy Dale was getting a little fresh, if you know what I mean...
He then preceded to pick up my phone that was on the table (b/c I had been texting Eileen) and he started dialing a number. It was like a 15 digit number....who the heck knows who (or what) he called, cause that butthole pressed send!!
And what did I do.....stood there cracking up the whole time. It was hilarious!
And remember what I said about Dale getting fresh......well.... ladies and gentlemen of the jury I present exhibit A...
Nice right?
But Dale doesn't play favorites, because I got more loving right after....
Seriously though, Dale came around like 3 or 4 times. And everytime, Dale had a little sumin' sumin' to do with Andy It was like that dang mouse at 1900 Park Fare on our honeymoon. That little creature kept coming up to him, and loving on him.... he claims he doesn't remember that....
What can I say, I just have this attraction.....
Yes, you attract furry human size rodents....... I guess you have what they call the "KAVORKA"! Do you need to take a bath in vinegar and wear some garlic... I mean, you do have the "lure of the animal"
Finally Mickey made his way around to us....
And we soon discovered why the must be getting rid of lunch.... Mickey had lost his mind...........
I'm just gonna post the pictures....and let them speak for themselves...
Mickey.... are you feeling okay????
We did take a nice photo..
But seriously, the character interaction here was amazing. They all came around multiple times, goofing off with us each and every time. When our dessert came I was trying to scoop some of that tasty strawberry pastry goodness on to my plate, and Mickey walked by and just shoved his hand right in front of me and waved it around and it scared the poop outta me. We were both so very glad we decided to eat here. Oh yeah, there was food. And it was good. I really like the catfish and I liked the cheesy potatoes. The beans were bland, but they weren't nasty. And the dessert was fabulous.
Oh and Pluto came around again..
Now that we were stuffed to the gills we headed down to Soarin'.
I have decided that I do like this ride b/c I really really love the music, and I'm okay if I'm on the second row or back. So I got in line with the intention of riding in any row except the front. And what happens? The CM yells out "We need a party of 2" and Andy goes "YEAH that's us" and he tells us to go to whatever lane (cause I can't remember how they're labeled) but I knew we were in the front. I contemplated swapping with someone, but I was too freaked out to do anything... Andy took a nice pic of me.... and then another one with my phone and sent it to Eileen
I will admit this photo was the "real deal" Once I saw it I thought it was funny so we recreated it for Eileen to post
I freaked out the whole way until we were up in the sky, and then I just sat back and enjoyed the show. As much as one can enjoy a show while they're gripping on to their handrails for dear life. I just feel like those seats are not long enough. I feel like I'm gonna slide out. Andy suggested I use the little kid straddle strap. But I kindly declined......
After the ride it was time for us to head back to POFQ. We wanted to rest up and hang out at the pool for a bit. And that's just what we did
Coming up: More fun with Brandi and Pom and then some MK EMH!
Love the pics with Mickey ! Maybe the CM's confiscated the 3-D glasses from some guests. I saw a lady put 4 pairs in her purse after Honey I shrunk the audience on our last trip. Stickin' to the Mouse , I guess.
We have happy memories from The Garden Grill. What a great character interaction you had. How fun!!! Mickey was making a doo-rag...yeah...that's it. I'll been waiting around to read your next installment. No pressure or anything.

Your pictures from GG are so great! I love all of the fun interaction you guys had with the characters there! I do think that Andy must draw a certain type of character.....he has animal magnetism!
I Soarin - and being in row B 1 is the best! No feet dangling in front of you!!!
Now - I haven't been on Ellen's ride in forever.......all I remember is the dinosaur part. So, do you really think it is worth the 40 minutes?
Great update guys!
