Run Ria Run –The 5K Weekend Warrior PTR *Updated September 22* - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay so number one CONGRATS on the weight loss! That is so awesome!
I am so excited for your and your new purchase which makes me think we have more in common than ever...i always tell eric how much i love how Donna Reed and Mrs. Cleaver Dress...i always have. My mom bought me a set of pearls because i wanted to wear them with my dresses. However, having said that, in this small town that i live in, if i were to wear a donna reed dress with my pearls there would be stares*L*
I do the dress. I love Target they always carry that style of dress these days!
About AKL....we have stayed there and loved it. I can answer most of your questions except for that one about the health center. I myself was wondering that about the gym. Let me know if you find anything out! I cant wait to hear what you guys decide!!!
I hate that you guys changed ressies but you should pop over and say good morning anyway we will be over at Kona! I do stitch!!! I had this crazy encounter with him last september. One of those moments that pass by and you are like darn where's the camera when you need it. I was sitting by the chinese theater in DHS drinking my water waiting on some friends to get something to drink. I had this weird feeling that someone was watching me and i turn to look at my side and stitch is standing there looking all in love with me*L* i was a little startled at first and then asked him if he wanted a drink. He shook his head and kept staring at me. The CM with him pulled him away saying that he was going to get me in trouble*LOL* it was like the craziest thing.
I too would love to see Mama Mia but I already made eric sit through WALLE which we loved BTW!!! I am so wanting to see WALLE at the parks now! He's super cute!
But we have plans to see the dark knight on friday. Eric and i both like the new batmans.....
cant wait for more!
LOL...aren't small towns the best...most of the things i wear get stares when I am home...especially at the Piggly Wiggly...lol. Its such a shame that we can't dress like back in the day ...matching hats, shoes and gloves.
Ben and I are still going back and forth between Kona and Ohana...we will probably change it back to Kona because i have problems controlling myself at all you can eat places...lol...even though the day after the race I am going to be more lenient on myself so I really can enjoy the Food and Wine Festival.
Well as much as I might embarrass Ben...he is just as excited as me about Mama Mia...lol...we love ABBA! The new Batman series started out great...I am excited to see Dark Knight even though it looks kind of creepy. But really can any movie beat Wall-E this summer? I loved Wall-E so much...I ever teared up a little bit.
It does have a number 7! I googled it because I was wondering why you would be concerned about my water bottle...I am going to switch to another type of water bottle. Thanks so much for pointing that out !
No problem! When I saw your bottle, I noticed it was very similar to my runner friend's bottle. Just before school ended there was a story on the news about #7 bottles and his was one of them. Glad you're going to switch.
great job on the weight loss - you look fantastic
good luck on all your choices - you will have to let us know what you guys decide
keep up the good work
hurry back with more please

Yeah i tried wearing this really cool dress, very charlotte from SATC, it had this hot pink little cardigan, and the dress was black and white eyelet, you would've thought i had grown a second head when i wore that to dinner. I agree about the hats and gloves and dresses without having a reason or occasion. Like on breakfast at tiffanys. I told eric the other day, i might just have my pearls on while cooking dinner one day*L* They have those cool shirt dresses out right now, i saw one at target the other day and i held it for a while and put it back. *L*
Oh please girl...eat all ya want!!! You will so deserve it the day after the race...we plan on loading up on the tonga toast*LOL* Oh and i plan to enjoy the F&WF especially the drinks and dessert*L* i love the F&WF because its little appetizers its great. yeah the dark knight is kinda creepy but i'm hoping it will just be great....But NOTHING can beat WALL-E!! i love that movie, i kept looking at eric saying "he needs to come home with me". I felt so sorry for him...he's super cute. I hope to run into him at the parks.
oh and i just saw on the allears.net website that AKL fitness center is free to guests of the hotel and is open from 6am to 9pm....but if you come from another resort they charge 12.

Just to throw our experience out there... Rob and I were staying at CBR and came over the Boardwalk to use the gym their- but when we got to Muscles and Bustles with the money in hand the guy smirked a little and told us not to worry about it! I don't think they always charge that fee!
The verdict is in and we will be spending our nights at the Coronado Springs Resort. I really really really wanted to stay at AKL…so I called and they had no more reservation with the 5K discount…so I asked about reserving regular room with no discount…the CM (very friendly) checked and saw that there were no available rooms for those dates at all. We are going to try for a reservation at AKL for our anniversary weekend…since we are eating at yummy yummy Jikos.
So I am a little sad …but excited about trying out the CSR!
Things I am excited to do at CSR:
Resting in a hammock Relaxing by the pool Enjoying a frozen concoction while lying by the pool Trying out the food court…looks yummy
I also switched my reservation back to Kona Café for the morning after the race…I think Ohana breakfast will be better for a different trip. So we will be having breakfast at Kona Café the day after the race at 9:50 AM…yippy skippy.
As I said in a previous post Ben and I are getting Annual Passes in September. We were going to get the premium ones but now that the AC is going bye bye …no thank you. Anyway we were wondering if we should get the DDE card. And If we should where do we purchase it? I was also wondering if we would be able to buy Florida Residents AP’s or do we have to be living in FL. for an extended period of time?
Our big move to Florida is coming really fast. We leave Asheville on August 4 and drive to Orlando…on August 5 we are leaving our car in Orlando and flying to New Orleans …and then on August 9 we are driving a U-Haul back to Orlando….crazy huh!
As far as training …
I completed week 6 of Couch to 5K…I ran 2 ¼ miles. Go me!
Something pretty funny happen today I realized a 5K in 3.1 miles…I had been thinking the whole time that it was 3.5 miles…that made we feel a little bit better lol.
At the park today my nephew and I did an obstacle course it included running around the swings, climbing the stairs to the top of the slide racing down, and then the first one to the bench won (he won)…so I am not only training for the 5K but the obstacle course after it…lol….
Next thing you know I will have Ben making up clues for a scavenger hunt around Asheville…lol.
I told this story on the EE 5K sticky about a month ago …heres a repost
Ben bought me a pair of pink track/sweat pants at the Polynesian on our honeymoon they are super comfy and have a tiny tinker bell emblem on the hip...after the honeymoon a couple of months later I could not fit into them anymore...I was devastated but didn't do anything about it...well yesterday I pulled them out and they fit not only do they fit i have to pull the draw sting all the way so they don't fall off.
**update: they are now way to big almost indecent because they keep falling down…guess that means I get a new pair!!!...we can use the money we saved by not staying at the AKL”***
