Family, friends, and a Baby!! 8 is definitely enough!! POFQ 8/11-8/15 **Updated 9/21** COMPLETE - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

1. Do you think it is necessary to send a room request for DSIL to have a first floor room in advance or will it be pretty easy to just get one upon check in?
All room requests should be sent in advance. Note that they are just requests. I'd say she has a 33% chance of getting a first-floor room, since all the buildings have 3 floors.

The PhotoPass is good for 90days from purchase.

I think you have a better chance if you check out on a slow turnover day (like mid-week) than on a typical turnover day (Sat/Sun).

My choice would be do to go Epcot and grab counter service while enjoying EEMH.

I would call the resort directly 7-10 days before you leave (closer to 7, as I know they don't even know you exist until closer to your vacation dates) and ask to speak to the room assigner. I broke my toe just before our vacation in August 2006. I called the resort and spoke to the room assigner. She was really nice and she helped me figure out where the best location for us would be. (I had the resort map from WillCAD's site open on my screen)

I'd probably just go with the flow of the day and see where your spirit takes you!
I say to go ahead and send in a room request fax. When we faxed one back in March we got all our requests. I would also ask about it when you check in.
You know we LOVE EOS so my vote is for that since you'll be at Epcot EEMH on Thursday
We saw the Block Party and liked it but I wish we had been in a better spot. Once I get my PP back tomorrow I will post that update either Sunday or Monday and you'll see some pics from it. We were in front of the Toy Story floats and I wish we had parked ourselves in front of the Monster's Inc. one but we didn't know it stopped like that.
And I am super excited to hang out with you on that Thursday!! I'm hoping we can meet back up after dinner to ride a ride or two!
Amanda, love your ramblings. Makes the time go faster. Another thought for Tuesday might be to make an ADR at POR before going out to Epcot. Hurry back. Loving the updates.
Today I got our Park Hoppers in the mail from Undercover Tourist!!! I ordered them on Monday night at around 9pm, got a call to verify a confusing address on Tuesday morning around 8:30am, and today received them in the mail. All that in under 1 week!! Amazing, I am so glad I heard such good things here and they were all true!!! Everything was accurate and the speed is just amazing
I decided I may make a little "packet" for the Beltrans and the Desimones. . . . . I think I will decorate it with some Disney scrapbooking stickers on the front and then inside put a copy of the itinerary, the park hoppers, their flight information, copies of the menus from allears, maybe some Disney Dollars ($10?). What else??? Any suggestions? Also, what should I put it in? A large mailing envelope? What would be cute? Nothing crazy or expensive because the Beltrans already have 2 baskets coming to them from memories by betsy. One for EJ and one with baby stuff for our soon to arrive nephew. . . .
I am getting more and more excited. I know the summer will shortly be over when we get back, but I just want to go already!!! I am sooooo looking forward to just being away? Ya know what I mean? No work, no worries, nothing. . . . . Aaaahhhhh
Thats so awesome about your tickets! I know you were so excited about that!
Okay so i made my friend crissy this folder that i bought from target. the folder was plain and came in a pack of 3 for 1.99 ...i then put some scrapbook paper on the front and decorated with stickers for her to put all her info inside. I'll post a pic of it soon on our PTR...it took maybe 20mins to make. And maybe about 8 dollars in stickers and paper if that really.
how expensive are those baskets? have you ever had one delivered? does she has a website? can you gear it to an occasion?? i've never used this before and was curious of your thoughts because i trust your opinion
I'm so excited for you! I know that when i'm there i leave my problems here at home for sure!

I use memoriesbybetsy.com. She is absolutely fabulous and I've used her for about 2 other trips already. She will gear it toward whatever you want and is the most helpful person to deal with.
I actually may be ordering another basket from her for Mary and Jimmy. More on that in the next update!!!!

Ditto on that! We have used her twice and the first time it was during the switchover from Memoires by Sarah to Memories by Betsey and everything went FABULOUS! She really is the best! I am so satisfied with her I would never use anyone else and recommend her ALL the time!
I like the packet idea for the families. I've used the presentation binders from Staples for things before. They aren't really like the binders you would use in school. It's more like a 'floppy-type' folder with clear sheet protectors inside. They are durable and run about $5. I searched for them on their website and I think this is it, but I'm not sure because I have purchased them in red before and they only offer blue & white on the site. In the store, I found them by the really durable 2-pocket folders that come in 10 to a pack. Hope this helps!
