Disney World or Psych Ward: Trip Report Updated 11/11/08 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So once we checked in to our room at CRB, we took all of our bags into the room and went straight over to Ohana for dinner. I took a few pictures on our way in. Here are a few.
So after quickly dropping our bags off and drove over to the Poly. We checked in and walked around the gift shop and listenedd to the entertainment outside of Ohana.
We were seated in about five minutes. We had a great table by the window. The view was wonderful. We were given our welcome bread and ordered drinks. We got milk for Byron, DH got an Ice Tea, and I got the Lupa Lupa. I love this drink. They then brought out our salad. This early hit the spot. Next was Pork Dumplings in Sweet n Sour Sauce, Honey-coriander chicken wings, and Stir-fried vegetables. Then came the skewers. Finally was the Bread Pudding for dessert. All of us loved the Bread Pudding . DS kept begging for more.
All of us enjoyed the meal. This has become our first meal tradition. It is one of my favorites and it did not disappoint. Everything was perfect.
Here are a few pictures from dinner:

After a wonderful dinner it was time to go to DTD for a little shopping.
Continue in next post........
After dinner we decided to go to DTD for a little while. We found a parking spot right up front next to The World of Disney so that is where we started. We walked through World of Disney and tried on some hats. DH wanted a new baseball cap. So he found two that he liked and I found one. So we got those and some chocolate covered pretzels and headed out. I stopped at the Basin and looked around then we decided to go back to the resort because it was crowded and we still needed to unpack.

Once we got back to our room, which was Aruba 5605 I noticed that we had two towel animals in the room. Plus the gift baskets that I had got for DS and DH were sitting on the bed. DH was surprised and loved his. I had gotten him some disney golf balls, a disney golf towel, a stitch antenea ball, and mickey ears. DS opened his and started playing with the toys he got. His basket had a toy monorail, a plush pirate mickey, pirate figure set, and mickey ears. The boys played and relaxed while I unpacked.
The gift baskets
We loved our room. It was not one of the new Nemo rooms, but it was still great. The location was perfect for us because it was next to the parking lot. Since we were driving to the parks it was easier to carry DS around. We were about 5-10 minute walk from Old Port Royale, but it was a nice walk. We also drove over their several times. The quiet pool was only one or two minutes away. We loved that everything was spread out. This is now my favorite resort. DS loved playing on the beach and I like the hammocks.
If anyone wants I can post some of the pictures I took around the resort. Just let me know.
We were in bed around 10 pm with a 6:40 wake up call so that we could have breakfast at Tusker House at the AK.
sounds like a thouroughly great first day
hurry back with more please
thanks for the pics of the food at ohana - we are tryinf it for the first time in oct
So glad that you were able to get a room location that worked for you! Your DS is just so adorable! Glad that DS and DH loved the baskets that you had delivered to the room. Your dinner at Ohana sounded delicious and it's always nice when you get a window seat.
Mickey called the room at 6:40 am and I got up, showered and got ready. DH got himself and DS son ready. I had packed a zip lock bag with complete outfit including diaper so it was easy for DH to get DS ready. We were then out the door for a 8:05 breakfast with Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Mickey at Tusker House.
Once at AK we stoped and had several photopass pictures taken. I still need to sort though the CD to post some of those pictures.
Then we checked in for our breakfast. We loved the buffet. I can't remember what exactly we all ate, but I do remember that the carved ham was wonderful and DS kept eating mine and his. Plus the juice they serve was great.
While we were eating the characters started to come around. First we saw Goofy. DS loved interacting with him and kept putting his hand in his mouth as you can see.
DS was very excited to interact with Donald and tried to follow him as he went to the next table.
Daisy was our next guest. She was not very friendly. Rushed off to the next table before we could even ask for an autograph.
Last came Mickey. He was great with DS. DS kept kissing his nose and was very excited to see him.
This meal was a great first experience to the characters for DS. He has showed no signs of strange aniexty in his life, but I was afraid that it would start with the characters. Well I had nothing to worry about. DS loved all the characters the entire time we were at WDW and had great interaction with them.
I would recomend this meal to anyone. The was great and with the expection of Daisy the character interaction was wonderful.
