As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Marnie! What a fantastic day at CC! You guys really know how to make the most of your time - - Thom and I just sat on the beach talking and drinking margaritas.
That parasailing sounds like so much fun! And the biking was a great thing to do.
Loved the description of the Pirate dinner and party afterwards (we didn't make the party -- only excuse was parents of a newborn ). Next time though!
You and Matt look so cute cuddled up before the party!

What a packed day you guys had on Castaway Cay - I'm so grateful you were able to send that card, it's got the pride of place in my postcard collection on our fridge!
The Pirate Night sounds great - I loved the kids' outfits, they looked so cute. And how wonderful that you got to see a show - the Golden Mickeys was my favourite, so I think you picked the right one to go to!

Re: The Grand Fiesta 10th Anniversary Trip Report - THREAD 4 Day 10 Part 1Updated 10/4
<font color="blue"> Day 13 – Wednesday, August 23rd – I thought this was a day at Sea and a Disney celebrity of sorts
We woke up this morning to see LAND This was supposed to be our day at sea? There were lots of other people hanging out their verandahs, and we were all trying to figure out first, where were we? And second, what had happened? I couldn’t tell if we were in Freeport or Nassau, but then came the tower, and Nassau it was. There were also a bunch of ships already at the dock (at least two). Finally, Brett (the cruise director) came over the system to say there had been a medical emergency and they had to take someone off the boat. How awful. Pixies for that family I hoped it wasn’t the family that was onboard for the Extreme Makeover show
Leaving Nassau Again……..you can see the other ships at the dock
Once the excitement was over, we headed down to breakfast at Triton’s again. This nice guy volunteered to take our picture in front of Ariel, but he cut her head completely off UGH!
Breakfast was the same as the other days, and we were soon done and checked the kids into the club. Now here was another dilemma. This morning was our Palo brunch. So do I put Colin in now, hoping he’ll stay thru brunch (11:30) or do I risk it? We risked it…….Stay tuned for that one! Since we were FREE again, we decided to go to the special presentation. Remember when we ate dinner at Palo, I said (who I didn’t know at the time) that there was a special Disney celebrity onboard? Well, that celebrity was Don “Ducky” Williams, who is a senior Disney character artist. I found this website (although it hasn’t been updated) Don "Ducky" Williams
He went into his life story, how he got started at Disney, and such. What a great man. He sent is thousands (and thousands) of character drawings, and finally worked his way into the organization. An absolutely amazing artist. He said he does all the characters for Disney in the parks (like the MGM entrance that has the filmstrip), for guides (like the kids menus and park guides) and promotional material (lots of Disney cruise stuff). He can pretty much draw any Disney character, because he had studied them so much trying to get into the organization (and sending in all those sketches)! So at Palo, he was sketching for some people up there, and then as part of this presentation, he sketched as he talked, and they raffled off the sketches at the end. Guess who didn’t win You guessed it. We have no luck when it comes to these things. It was a great talk though, and I’d highly recommend seeing him if he’s ever on one of your cruises
That done, we went back to the room to get dressed for brunch. And what do you think happened? Colin wanted out of the club So much for Palo brunch. Matt went to get Colin, and I headed up to Palo, to tell them that I was so sorry, but we wouldn’t be able to make it as we just got a kid out of the club. He was very understanding, and we didn’t end up getting charged either! It wasn’t that crowded as well, so book a later seating if you want to go (I think we were close to the last seating at 11:30).
I took Colin to the Mickey pool, and sent Matt to the debark presentation so he’d know what we had to do to get off the ship tomorrow The pool was MOBBED Yikes! The water was also a murky clear, as I’m sure there were about 10 bottles of sunscreen in it that has come off all the kids Matt came to meet us after the presentation, and he got some lunch at Pluto’s. Colin fell asleep on me as Matt was eating, so we headed back to the room, where Colin promply woke up and was now raring to go Matt however needed his nap, so he was done. I went back up to Pluto’s to get Colin some food (and me a Bahama Mama ) and sat out on the verandah while Colin watched a show.
This boat had been shadowing us the entire trip
Again no waves whatsoever. It was like cruising on a calm lake
Colin decided he wanted to go back to the club, so I got him ready, woke Matt up, and we delivered Colin to the club. FREE again, we headed to Animator’s Palate to see the other Ducky Williams presentation on how to draw Mickey Mouse. Well, really, we were going to have another chance at winning one of his sketches Guess who didn’t win again UGH!
Coming Up Next.........A Galley Tour, a phenomenal dinner, and our last night
