As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The Grand Fiesta 10th Anniversary Trip - Pre-trip Update 7/9
I've been reading your TR & have felt the anticipation as each day grows nearer.....I'm about ready to jump out of my skin as we leave in the morning. I'll keep a look out for your kids.....if you see a strange woman hobbling towards you yelling your name, that will be me!
Have a great time! Can't wait to read all about it when you get back!!

Re: The Grand Fiesta 10th Anniversary Trip - Pre-trip Update 7/9
So, not long now Marnie! Strange how we all get excited for others trips. This trip of yours seems extra spectacular. From your posts, it sounds like you've scored some great deals since I last posted.
You guys are just going to have the best time. The only problem I see is how are you ever going to top a Disney trip like this one? Might have to go to DL for that! Have a great time with the family and enjoy the fruits of all your planning.
P.S. My personal goal is to have my Hershey trip done before you leave, and, before you get back, the Oct 2005 trip complete as well. And, since I'm now dreaming, I'll finish that 2004 Key West trip by Columbus day. That ought to get me all caught up. See what an inspiration your trips are to me!

Re: The Grand Fiesta 10th Anniversary Trip - Pre-trip Update 7/9
<font color="blue"> Last minute debates and changes
Fast forward to early July, and I have been busily plotting away at the schedule. I have been perusing the Navigators from a previous 4-day cruise and laying out a schedule accordingly. I’ve turned even more compulsive, and have a big spreadsheet going with color blocked times. Someone hit me now I just added Wolfgang Puck Café for our meal before Cirque du Soleil. This will eat up our table service credits though, so I’m going to get rid of Garden Grill. Someday we’ll get there! I’m still debating on the Bibbidy Boppity Boutique for Alexa and Colin, but I’m having a hard time fitting it into the schedule. I could do it first thing in the morning, but then it would be wasted when they went into the pool at lunch. We don’t often get to DTD in the early afternoon, so it’s just not working into my plans as this point. And still no luck on the rental car. I’m going to be stuck with Alamo, and dread every minute And I’ve decided that I want to try parasailing on Castaway Cay, so I’ll let Matt go with Alexa to the Stingray Adventure, and I’ll go parasailing. I just need to check to see if there’s still space online, or I can always add it when I get on the boat! And I happened into the Disney store on 4th of July weekend, and picked up some matching gear for me and the kids (alas nothing for Matt). Matching tropical Mickey shirts for the kids, which matches a sarong skirt for me, and a matching canvas beach bag as well. All 4 pieces were about $20
I’ve also started faxes for both AKL and BC. Since I’ll be on the cruise before the Poly, there isn’t much I’ll be able to do with that one What do you think??

Hello Dear Room Assignor
We hope you’re doing well
We’re returning again to Animal Kingdom Lodge
For a stay we hope is swell!
It’s our Great Celebration
A trip we’ve planned so grand
It’s our 10th Wedding Anniversary
Those years have been anything but bland!
We’re celebrating with Mickey
Only fitting, don’t you think?
It’s our 5th time staying at the Lodge
We just can’t get enough, wink wink
The room, the room oh I forgot
That’s what this poem is supposed to be about
A great location would be appreciated
With 2 kids and 2 strollers, no doubt!!
A soothing view of Arusha Rock
A floor close to the ground
I must admit, the Zebra trail
Is where we’d like to be found.
Close to the Mara would be nice
So I can have my fill of Zebra domes
Near the pool we’d love as well
It’s usually the kids’ second home!
So thank you Room Assignor
For being a part of our plans
Our past stays at Animal Kingdom Lodge
Have created a family of loving fans!!

Hello Dear Room Assignor
We hope you’re doing well
We’re returning to the Beach Club
For a stay we hope is swell
It’s our Great Celebration
A trip we’ve planned so grand
It’s our 10th Wedding Anniversary
Those years have been anything but bland!
We’re celebrating with Mickey
It’s only fitting, don’t you think?
With 3 trips to the Beach Club already under our belt
Could we possibly finish the Kitchen Sink?
The room, the room I forgot
That’s what this poem is supposed to be about
A great location would be appreciated
With 2 kids and 2 strollers, no doubt!!
A lovely view of the gardens
A full balcony would be nice too
A non-connecting room would please
The Happy Anniversary Groom!
So thank you Room Assignor
For being a part of our plans
Our past stays at the Beach Club
Have created a family of loving fans!!
I had a bit of creative block and just copied bits from one to the other, but heck, it’s good enough for me! All that I can think of that’s left to do is to call Disney Dining to add that we’re celebrating our anniversary to all of the meals that I’ve made ADRs for! Which I still haven’t done, t-minus 3 days and counting (but who’s counting)
I’ve got just one update left. I need to figure out all the changes I’ve made the last few days/weeks and write them down! Finally updated all my Passpockets, and even printed out my Mousekeeping envelopes this morning
