As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Am I Turning 6 or 26?? Who Cares! I\'m Doing So @ WDW!!! Day one/part 1 - Updated 7/17
Alrighty, let's begin, shall we?
July 10 - Day One, Part One - We have arrived!
We were easily up and ready to leave by 6 this morning. Andy showered and packed up the few things laying around the room (computer, camera, chargers, etc.) I rolled out of bed, brushed through my hair and curled it under with my handy dandy round hair dryer ( that thing)! We grabbed a bunch of carb filled food from the continental breakfast and hit the road jack. I drove and made it through Jax before I was ready to hand over the wheel. Construction and traffic just ticked me off in Jax and it was throwing me off my schedule! We stopped to fill up the tank and did a little switcheroo. Before I knew it we were on I-4 and then we were in Orlando Side note, we saw the funniest billboard, well it was funny to us, we both saw it, looked at each other, and busted out laughing. It's some character from a cartoon network show (don't know which one) and it has is the character with his finger up and it says "I pooted" I'm laughing now thinking about it
annywaaay, It wasn't much longer before exit 67 made it's appearance and we were back in our Disney bubble!! There's nothing quite like the disney bubble. It reminds me of the Truman Show.
Once we were in the bubble I snapped a photo of Stitch back in his hometown
He was excited to be returning
Of course you have to get this picture
and get extremely excited when you take it!
And you're so close, reading the signs, following the directions....and the 2 minutes it takes to get to the resort take 2 hours in your brain....and then, finally.....yes, you're there!!!
Andy parked it in the first space he could find and then we were bopping along to the custom house I immediately knew I was home when a random cast member smiled and said hello I love doing that to everyone down there!
We checked in and had a CM who was earning her ears, so we didn't get a lot of a spill, but she was still good and I think she'll earn those ears pretty soon. Our room was not ready but she did tell us we were in building 45 in Jamaica. I looked at the grounds map and knew that Kelly and sprinkled us with some and got us into a good area. again Kelly!!!! Then the girl says that we have some U.S Mail and if we'd like it now. I looked at Andy, assuming it was from him, and he just has this blank look on his face and says "It's not me". So we get the package and it's from Angie So we popped a squat in the lobby and opened the package. She had me a cute little Stitch tank made with "Melissa's badness level rising" on it And a cute little birthday Stitch with a bday hat and balloons! She is so sweet and it really started our trip off magically!
We drove around to Jamaica, found our building, and parked our car. Then it was time to hit a park. First stop, MGM! We had reservations at a certain famous hotel and we needed to check on in. Disney magic continued as a bus pulled up right as we walked up to the bus stop. I took this picture just for Eileen, the second we sat down on the bus
It has begun!!
Top of the list at MGM - get a birthday button! Only that didn't happen first. First, I was kind enough to fill out some survey for some lady about WDW. I didn't really know how to answer the questions, they were very open ended, and my brain was only thinking one thing "Must get in line for tower, must get in line for tower". I'm surprised I didn't type that as a response
Once that was over we did get a birthday button and then we booked it over to the tower. A silly photo op along the way
Once we got there I was expecting the worst. It's the middle of July, it's going to be crazy right?? 60 min wait?? 90 min wait?? How about 40 min. wait that was really actually a 15 min. wait?? We walked almost all the way up to the lobby! More disney magic?? I think so!! So we rode, and we FP'd to come back after lunch
I also made my first purchase of the trip. A big ole mug that has Stitch as a bellhop on it and it says not to make the bellhop angry It's very cute!
The next thing on my list was the Studios of Animation. I love to go and do the drawing, always in hopes I'll get to learn to draw Stitch. We've been lucky enough to do a different character the other times, we did Mickey and Donald, and today, well today I let out a little excited yelp when the character was announced. More disney magic!! It was Stitch!! I'm going to scan and post pictures of our drawings at the end of the report when I do all the photopass pics....so stay tuned for that! As for the pro, I had to take a picture of his artwork, and I made the artist get in the photo as well. I'm sure he thought I was a total nerd!
We walked around the Animation area and poor old Mr. Incredible didn't have any company, so we jumped in to save the day!
Look at Andy's face... He's such a nerd now, too!!
Then we found Frozone just wandering around...seriously, that mug musta been reeallly bored
And again with the nerd Andy
Our Prime Time ADR was for 1:30 but it was only around 1 and we were starving. So we thought we'd head over there and see what it was like. They noticed my bday button and said that they'd call our name. I think we waited like maybe 5 minutes before the "Loslin" family was called! We should have changed our name to Loslin this trip b/c almost all our ADR's were listed that way
While we waited I took a picture of Andy at a different table....
And this Andy at the table is another one especially for Eileen
Our waitress was French and had a fantastic accent, although it did make it difficult to understand (especially after my Dad's Electric Lemonade . I had heard so many good things, I had to find out for myself )
Our waitress was hilarious I thought b/c she was all about the yummy yummy milkshakes. Now you have to picture this with a thick French accent "We have coke, diet coke, tea, lemonade, yummy yummy milkshakes, chocolate, yummy yummy vanilla, yummy yummy peanut butter and jelly" Seriously, those milkshakes must be yummy!
We started with the fried cheese, maaaan that was some gooood stuff!! There wasn't much of a diet this trip Then we shared the stacked sandwich. They were nice enough to split it for us and I think we both got a regular helping of chips and we both got a pickle Andy was proud b/c he cleaned his plate
I didn't have to b/c it was my birthday
Now the blinking ice cube was driving me crazy in my drink. I had been trying to dig it out the whole time I was drinking but it was, of course, on the bottom. Finally when I finished the drink I got it close to the top and Andy took it trying to get it out. He stuck his fingers down in there right as our waitress walked up and he got fussed at for having his fingers in the drinks Then when a new family sat down next to us I noticed she had added into the rules "No elbows on the table, no fingers in your drinks"
My birthday was announced and I got a cupcake and everyone sang. If I only knew how many cupcakes I would have this trip ...
I of course had to get a photo with our waitress and my cupcake
I really liked her b/c she wasn't over the top embarrassing but she had a good sense of humor and was a lot of fun.
So, what better to do after a nice tasty adult beverage and a lot of food than to plunge down an elevator shaft?? We headed back over to use our FP. There was a bit of a wait now but not for the FP. We walked right up and on! We had to take the mandatory photo
Thanks to Angie I now know about this hidden mickey:
They have, however, removed the fallen letters out of the directory I walked up to look at them and ran right into the trashcan that they have blocking it. I leaned over on my tippy toes and saw that the letters were gone How sad. Andy figured it was b/c word got out and too many people were stopping to look and it was causing a back up. Oh well.
By now it was around 2:30 and we were ready to head back and see if our room was ready. I called and got our room number 4542 and it was all ready !! So after a short wait for the bus we were back at CBR!
Coming up: A first time for everything

YAY!!! It's started!! Already sounds like a spectacular day with some magic sent from Angie and getting a good location @ CBR.
So...despite having issues getting the blinking ice cube out of the glass, how did ya like the drink?
Looking forward to more Melissa!!

OK - I can't wait to hear more!
By the way - what is the stacked sandwich - did I miss something when I was there in April? Is it an item on the lunch menu - not the dinner menu?

How funny - the pics of Andy with the camera to his face are a riot!! Honestly, if I were that good looking and had such beautiful blue eyes, I wouldn't keep blocking them with a camera!
Sounds like the magic has already started for you guys, Melissa.
And kudos to Angie for getting something shipped to you so quickly!
I'm sooooo looking forward to more,
