As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Such a great time you had exploring the WD in Epcot! Beignets for breakfast is a great start to your day. Your dinner looked quite good! I think the late night out at the MK may have caught up to you, even though you couldn't go back to sleep in the morning. You may have been overtired!
I definitely hit a wall.

I'm having fun with this one, so maybe.

It was crazy how early I woke up. And here I'd been all worried the Mousekeeper was going to wake me up because there wasn't a privacy sign in my room.

The crowds weren't too bad for the most part. I've certainly seen longer lines.

It's been so long since I've stayed at POFQ, and I'm very much missing it now after seeing your photos!
I didn't realize I missed POFQ until I went back! It's such a lovely resort.

Looks like you enjoyed your day at Epcot and I can't get over how long that line was in the Mexican Pavilion! Glad you got to meet up with Kim and her family! Looks like you had a great trip so far
That line for GFT was insane! The park wasn't even crazy busy. But I'm sure like half an hour later it was a walk on again. After all, WS had only been open for a little while at that point.

I knew I needed to document the actual view! It was a nice, shady spot, but not really good for actual viewing.

Day Four – Sunday, May 24 Back to my usual touring style
I was slightly disappointed to see constructions walls, but it was much better than my last visit in March
I went to EE to try to find PPer CM Heather, but she was on break (I have a talent for looking for her just when she leaves ). I did manage a ride or two on EE.
I was happy to see some activity out of the tigers (well, one of them at least).
The tiger wanted to play hide and seek
I thought she might be ready for a swim, but she just took a drink and walked around in the water instead
I finally found Heather and we made plans to meet up for dinner later.
There was a new path between EE and the MJT/KRR.
I was very excited to see the Harambe Market open. Heather told me it had only opened 2 days before. I took lots of pictures (and kicked myself for eating something earlier and not being hungry enough to sample the offerings). It was so well themed (like everything else Disney does).
I got the train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
The cow was really enjoying getting brushed and petted
Unfortunately, FOTLK was full. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it this busy! In fact, I did something else and then came back for the next show. It was closer that time, but I still didn’t make it in! You really do need to show up at least 30 minutes before showtime when it’s busy.
I had a FP+ for KS. A combination of a seat on the right side of the truck and not much animal activity means not many photos.
“Does my butt look big in this photo?”
“Do these stripes make my butt look big?” Not as big as the elephant’s.
There was a band performing that I’d never seen before. I stopped to enjoy the show.
I went back to POFQ and had a little break. I took a stroll around the resort, but I guess I didn’t bring my camera with me. Mistake! Luckily I had my phone.
I made my way to POR. They had a little party going on for Memorial Day (which seems, I don’t know, odd? Maybe it’s me ). If I’d had a real camera, I would’ve gotten some photos. But the best part was Patriotic Minnie greeting her fans!
Heather had worked a 12-hour shift that day, so we figured it’d be the least effort for her if she just met me at POR for dinner. She arrived just as I finished my meet with Minnie Mouse.
Now we went in to eat. I love Italian food, especially pasta, but I kept trying to talk myself out of the pasta. Why? Well, I’d had it the night before, and I had an ADR for Trattoria al Forno the next night. It’d be crazy to eat Italian three nights in a row!
I told Heather about my dilemma and she said, “The pasta’s really good. That’s what I’m getting.” Twist my arm, why doncha? I ended up getting the exact same thing I’d had the night before. I didn’t take a new picture, so go look at what I posted last time. I also didn’t take a picture with Heather. I was too busy thinking about pasta, I guess!
And then, after we’d eaten, Patriotic Mickey was outside! Woot! The picture taken with my iPhone isn’t great, but luckily, there was a Photopass photographer on hand.
I got the boat back to POFQ and just hung out for a bit before going to bed.
Up Next: A Memorable Drop

Looks like you had a great time at AK!! Love the picture of the new Harambe market! Minnie looks so cute in her patriotic outfit. Glad you were able to finish the day at dinner with Heather!
Isn't the new area of animal kingdom lovely? What's funny is I was actually there that afternoon as well... It was certainly busy! How cute is Minnie in her Memorial Day gear?! And I would so eat Italian 3 nights in a row...
