The “Hurt So Good” TR or How You Can Feel Bad and Still Feel Good - UPDATED 10/17 COMPLETE!! - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your interaction with the captain was priceless!!! My BFF and I met him back in 2007 and I think it is still one of my favorite character interactions! My friend told him my name is Elizabeth, and he said, "Hide the rum from that one!"
Can't wait to see what's up next!

I just loved the Halloween parade last year. I"m so glad you captured it. Love the Captain Jack encounter - how can you not want to flirt with him?! What is it about Captain Jack???
What great pictures of the parade. Glad Kevin was able to grab a seat and be comfortable so you all could enjoy the parade. Sorry that you missed out on your Villian mixer but it definitely leads way to a mom / daughter trip next year, that sounds like so much fun.
Can't wait to hear about your "day off" tomorrow. Hoping a day of relaxation gets everyone prepped for some more park days later in the week.

I'm doubly jealous.....not only did you get to go to my favorite time of the year (and my trip which woulda been 18 days away is postponed).....but you also got my most FAVORITEST Princess of all-SNOW WHITE!!! I told my kids the next trip we go to we are going to stake out in the areas she's been seen it......I WANT that picture!!
Love the pics of the headless horseman!!
I know just how you're feeling - I remember last year thinking, "Today we would have been at Epcot, etc.) Your next trip is going to be so fabulous - you just wait! I just know you'll see Snow White, too.
What great pictures of the parade! And how great that Kevin was able to get a seat! Sorry about the bug bites!
I wish I knew what it was that bit me! I've never swollen up like that before unless it was a bee sting.

Yes - the girls and I can hold out a lot longer than Kevin can. If he ends up coming with us on a longer stay, we'll just leave him at the resort on the night of the party and bring him home some candy.

I remember that TR!! You two had a lot of different character interaction, if I'm remembering correctly.

9/16 We slept in until 8:30am - which for us is saying something! Today was our official ‘day off’ from having to go, do or be anywhere and try and spend some time relaxing. Even then, we had a ‘tentative’ schedule!
Because we had 5 day tickets, my park tickets were burning a hole in my pocket. So we were going to relax and swim at the resort, and in the afternoon tour Epcot’s Future World for a bit before going to DTD for dinner and shopping. That’s pretty relaxing, isn’t it?
Kevin was up and dressed before any of us; he had decided for some strange reason that he didn’t want to go swimming with us today (which I found out later was because he forgot to pack his swim trunks!) So the girls and I had a quick breakfast of Pop Tarts (thanks to the girls seeing Cam mentioning that in her TRs, ) changed into our swimsuits and headed down to the pool.
It was already H-0-T at 9:30 that morning! The girls jumped in right away and I took a few photos of them. We were waiting for the slide to open – and it took the CMs quite a while to get it operating. I was worried we’d have to go back to the room and change before they actually got it up and running, but they eventually figured it out.
Kevin stopped by just in time to see Cory come down the slide – but Kelley chickened out at the top and just wouldn’t do it. We noticed the lifeguards at Ol’ Man Island were all business. I felt sorry for them as there was one little boy who was standing at the bottom of the slide – and they kept yelling to him to please move away from the slide but he just ignored them. It took them a bit to figure out he didn’t understand English and finally his father came running over and took care of the situation.
By 11:30 we headed back to the room to shower and change. Three girls /one shower – one hair dryer = a looonnngggg time! After I got out of the shower, I noticed that I my lungs felt kind of congested and I was beginning to cough. I didn’t know if my cold symptoms were coming back – or I had been exposed to some allergens in the pool area, with all the different pine trees and vegetation, pool chemicals, etc. In any case, I was really beginning to sound bad with this cough.
We headed down to the bus stop about 12:30pm – and today I decided to carry my Messenger bag Baggallini with my little red Baggallini tucked inside, simply because the forecast called for rain. I wanted to make sure we didn’t get caught at DTD without our ponchos, so I hauled them all with us.
This was the one and only time we had to stand during a bus ride this trip; the bus was jam-packed. Fortunately, Epcot is a quick ride from POR – and I tried to hold myself back from coughing in the busload of people.
Going through security this time was another matter. The CM who checked my bags decided to be extremely thorough. She unzipped and unflapped every compartment on my big Baggallini and then did the same thing for my little Baggallini!! I think she was a bit annoyed with me and finally let us through.
Today we had decided to look around Future World as we had missed a great deal of it on our first trip. We wanted to make sure we saw Spaceship Earth, Innoventions and Ellen’s Universe of Energy. But first – we were starved! We had such a good experience with Sunshine Season last trip and decided to eat there for lunch.
I’m really impressed with this place for casual, quick dining. We each chose a sandwich on artisan bread, which came with potato salad (Cory was stuck with a ‘build-your-own-mini-sub’ from the kids’ menu.) Kevin had his favorite dessert here – a strawberry shortcake cake; Cory and I split a chocolate crumb cake and Kelley had a delicious cinnamon roll. It was extremely crowded, but we still enjoyed our lunch.
Being very conscious about my cough around crowds of people, especially with all the concerns over the flu circulating, I tried really hard to not cough or at least to cough quietly and into my elbow. Still, you could see the looks on people’s faces whenever I did! Some people would back away or avoid coming near. And here at Epcot was the first time I noticed a few people wearing face masks! Not sure if they were worried about exposure in such large crowds, or whether they had some sort of allergy, etc. that necessitated a mask. In any case, I tried hard not to frighten people away.
Spaceship Earth was next.
It ended up being one of Kevin’s favorite attractions. He videoed our future selves at the end. Somehow I ended up with holes in my head - Kevin said that was nothing new.
We were feeling rather thirsty, so Club Cool was next. I wish I hadn’t told my family anything about Beverly, but they were in on the secret from the beginning. We all tried everything (except Kelley, who decided she wasn’t thirsty in the least!) I don’t know why, but Cory and I did not just sample – we drank cups of everything! I even had a big sip of Beverly just so I could see what all the fuss was about….and after feeling like I’d just chewed up a big Bayer aspirin, I had to wash the taste out with more soda.
At this point I was beginning to feel like the The Tale of Peter Rabbit: “First he ate some lettuces and some French beans, and then he ate some radishes. And then, feeling rather sick, he went to look for some parsley…” Except for I needed some Tums! Bleh!
We explored around both Innoventions East and West, although neither girl felt much like doing anything inside.
Kevin really wanted to ride on the Monorail, something we had never done before. We didn’t have much time left before we needed to be at DTD, so we decided to ride the monorail and save Ellen for tomorrow.
I think the monorail was not what we were expecting, and although I’m glad to say I finally got to ride, it wasn’t that exciting or cool. Of course, I’d probably be singing a different tune if we were actually staying at the Poly or the Contemporary – then I’d probably love it!
As we returned to Epcot, we decided to take the bus back to our resort and then the boat to DTD – just because it’s our favorite way to get there. We love the relaxing ride down the Sassagoula River and all the beautiful scenery along the way.
UP NEXT : Shopping, Shopping and a Jammin’ Evening at Raglan Road
Sounds like a relaxing day so far. Sorry that your cough seems to be returning. Hopefully it goes away. And sorry that your ride on the monorail wasn't what you were expecting.
