The Trip Full of Thanksgiving and Christmas 11/19-11/28 - Page 9 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a fun safari, especially since I got to ride along! Sorry Cape May wasn't up to par this evening, but it looks like none of you went away hungry. But darn the weather spoiled your light crowd night at Epcot.
We did t go away hungry, and they did make sure the problem was fixed. In fact when I take my dad, it is the one place he requested we go to, so we are. Can't say no to my dad! Never fear, the Epcot thing works out!
I am doing another update because I have a crazy week this week, and I probably won't get to another one until Thursday at the earliest.
11/22 We arose early this morning. We got an Epcot bus bright an early without much of a wait, and soon we were there. We waited in line for prepark opening reservations. Our reservation for for 8:10 and they let us in at 7:58. They gave us very little time to make it to the Land for Garden Grill. Thankfully there was a cast member with a sign telling us to take the short cut through Innoventions. I did stop briefly to take this picture.
We got there at 8:05 and were the second ones to check in.
We waited about five minutes before being called back, so I took a few more pictures.
We were seated and the boys kept saying how hungry they were. I was really looking forward to this meal since I had heard nothing but good about it. Tim was ready to interact with some chipmunks.
For those who don't know, my husband has a fear of chipmunks. Like seriously. He was chased by some at Mt St Helens many years ago and through the years he has embellished the story. Instead of a few chipmunks it became thousands, and apparently they were riding little white horses and yelled Charge at him. On our last trip he made friends with Chip and Dale. I was looking forward to seeing what fun we could have today.
Caden was very ready.
First came Chips Sticky Bun bake, which was served in a little skillet but I didn't get a picture before everyone started digging in. Fresh fruit was also served, as well as whatever beverage choice you wanted including POG juice.
Dale came by and Preston, who was feeling much better was ready for a hug.
I told Dale that Tim was afraid of him and he had some fun with that, pulling the boys up to show he wasn't scary.
I love this next picture.
Tim was having a ball.
Then Mickey came and the boys were right up to greet him.
And I got in on this one. It just dawned on me that this was a very character meeting heavy day. What fun! Just wait!
Meanwhile Chip had heard that there was a guy afraid of chipmunks at our table and he snuck up behind Tim to scare him. Our laughter was contagious!
We had ordered seconds of the sticky bun bake and fruit by the way. Our server was amazing and right on top of everything.
Chip apologized for scaring him and made friends with Tim after all, after thinking it quite silly that he was afraid of chipmunks.
And this is Chip agreeing that Alvin is evil.
Then Pluto snuck up to say hello.
Caden was super happy because he is a big Pluto fan.
And Tim got in there for one too.
I love the way Pluto signs books.
This was Kim, our awesome server. She was over the top good, and I even complimented her to the manager. I Facetimed my dad since Dale was coming around again and my dad's name is Dale, so I wanted him to talk to him. Kim was right on that and even chatted with him some too, making him promise to come back and visit her. Sadly my dad has chosen 'Ohana over Garden Grill, but that is okay. He had a blast chatting with Dale over FaceTime.
This is the platter of yumminess served to us.
This is with the biscuits and gravy and POG juice in the picture.
Caden enjoying his Mickey waffles, ears first of course.
This tells you what we thought of the meal.
The food was served with a melted chocolate hazelnut syrup, and salsa, and salsa verde for the eggs.
After getting seconds on Mickey waffles we finished just within an hour. We had plenty of time before our Behind the Seeds tour, and we got out at the perfect time to ride this Standby. I had a Fastpass for it later.
We were Soarin' over Clifornia in no time. It was a wonderful ride, though I admit I am anxious to see what they will do with this after the refurb.
As soon as we got off we walked right onto our other favorite ride over there. I was so glad we rode it right before our tour.
These actually came up on our tour.
As soon as we got off we checked in for the Behind the Seeds Tour. Preston, especially was super excited about this, as he is super interested in plants and such.
So if you haven't seen enough of the greenhouse, there is a lot more coming up!
The breakfast at Garden Grill looks as delicious as I had hoped it would be. Loads of food, too. Love all your interactions with the characters, but especially Chip and Dale. Sweet to squeeze in two attractions before the tour.

It was the best breakfast of the trip. I hope you can try it on your next one. And you can't beat riding two things rights after ward and beating the Soarin' crowd.

I honestly don't know, but it sure didn't seem to be. The way it is laid out you really don't see other tables.

Oh wow, what a ball you guys had at the Garden Grill! I love your telling of the chipmunk story, especially the bit about the white horses! I think we all have stories like that, where they've changed just a little over the years...

Tim certainly knows how to tell an entertaining story! It sure adds to the fun with Chip and Dale.

They rode Space Mountain while I waited for them in the gift shop. I found watches for Tim and I that I liked, so I bought those. I don't know how it worked, but the lady gave me a Disney Visa discount and an Annual Pass discount.
Hmmmm, how 'bout that? That was unusual as most shops won't allow doubling up on discounts unless maybe Chase pays the difference on the Visa discount? I'll try getting the DVisa discount and the Basin voucher one, too. Maybe the magic will work for me as well as it did for you.
Sounds like you all had a great time.
We've never been on camera at Laugh Floor. You must get doused with pixie dust when entering or something. It is such a fun show even though you've seen it multiple times before.

All.caught.up LOVE all the details you've been giving. My favorite pics still are the snow globe, and Caden licking his plate The chipmunks were hilarious!
Can't wait to read more.
