10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 88 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great view from your room and beautiful pictures of the Boardwalk area! I think I can guess where you are going next.

I was very happy with my room view and wish I had a veranda, but you can't have everything! The Boardwalk is so beautiful and especially at night. Probably not that difficult to guess where I'm going!

That sky does look quite ominous good thing you will be inside. Love all your photos you captured the area nicely.
Yes the sky is quite threatening for sure! Glad I got there before the rains came! Glad you enjoyed the photos as I got a lot on my walk there!

Although you didn't have a balcony, you certainly had a great view from your room. I love walking around the Epcot resort area. My DH and I really enjoy our stay at the Epcot resorts not only for the proximity to Epcot itself but the stroll around the lake that we get to take every night when we stay there! Looking forward to hearing about Flying Fish!

I was quite happy with my view and especially seeing the Friendship boats arriving and departing below my room. I love the Boardwalk area and such a nice area to see at night with a walk.

Glad you enjoyed them. It's such a beautiful area of WDW and especially all lit up at night!

I arrived at my destination below as I had to try this bar as Tara has raved about it and others as well. I’ve seen photos of Abracabar and love the theming and they also have some very creative libations on the menu, which I want to try. There is easy access to Flying Fish and will keep me out of the inevitable rain approaching.
When I got inside it looked quite beautiful and had very nice theming. A lot of magic themed wall paper and some dark paneling on the walls and in a style taking you back many years, which fits in with The Boardwalk. It was quite busy, but there was seating available at the bar and I grabbed one. There are quite a few tables and booths in the room as well.
Chris was the bartender tonight and handed me a drink menu, which contained several specialty drinks. As Tara enjoyed one of these so much I had to try it as she raved about it.
I went with the Conjurita as it sounds quite good. As you’ll see below it’s quite something. Chris made my drink and placed it in front of me, but he wasn’t done yet. He added some extra liquid to it and stirred it and the color of the drink changed completely. That was just so cool! I asked Chris, what does that and he said, “Magic!” This certainly fits in with the magic theme to the bar! I enjoyed Chris as he was a good bartender with a great personality.
My Conjurita and it was delicious!
I enjoyed my drink for a while and looked around taking everything in with some photos.
I like this touch to the bar with all the little knickknacks in the case!
I finished my Conjurita, but I still had some time before my ADR at Flying Fish. I checked outside and it wasn’t raining out yet, so I decided to go out on the Boardwalk for a little while.
I always enjoy the various performers at night here.
This youngster is perplexed how this works!
I had about five minutes or so until my ADR, so I walked over to Flying Fish, which was just a few steps away.
I checked in for my ADR and I only had to wait a couple of minutes until one of the CMs seated me. When I walked in the restaurant, I noticed how much brighter and modern the new look to this restaurant is. I think they did a good job with this. I was seated in the back and off to the left which is much quieter than the main part of the restaurant. But here there is a view of the kitchen as there isn’t where I am, but not a big deal.
Doesn’t it look nice in here! Like those chandeliers.
Once, I was seated at my table the CM handed me the menu as well as a wine and drink menu. I looked over the menu and my server arrived and went over the menu with me. He gave me a few recommendations. I ordered a glass of Chenin Blanc as it’s a white wine and I knew what my first course would be.
My server returned shortly (I forget his name, but he was very good throughout my dinner) with my glass of wine. I gave him my selections and I was also served some bread with sea salt butter, which was very good.
After enjoying my glass of wine along with the delicious bread, my first course arrived. This would be quite unique as I’ve never had something like this but my server recommended it highly.
Masago (fish roe) Crusted Grouper Cheeks
This was very good and had a lot of flavor and was very moist as these were the cheeks and probably have a higher fat content than a fish filet. I’m glad I went with this.
After my server cleared my plate, I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon for my main course, which would arrive shortly. In just a few minutes my server returned with my glass of wine and then my main course.
Wagyu NY Strip Steak with Roasted Potatoes and Vegetables and a Potato Beure Blanc Sauce
This was also very good and so enjoyable. My steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and had so much flavor. The sauce complimented the steak rather well. The potatoes were very good as well.
After this I was quite full as the steak was a big portion, so I told my server that I’d be skipping dessert. But I did order a Grand Marnier and an Espresso. While, I waited for my server to return with my drinks I walked around the restaurant and got some photos.
New bar area of Flying Fish
These guys in the kitchen were funny, encouraging me to take their photo!
I returned to my table and enjoyed my beverages. I took my time with these and a nice way to end my last dinner on my trip. My server returned with my check and I settled it with him shortly. Once, I was finished with my dinner, I didn’t leave just yet as I got more photos. It was closing in on 10 pm and the restaurant was clearing out a lot. My dining room was vacant, except for myself, so a good time for photos.
The dining room I was in.
My table is in the center on the right.
My table
I began to leave the restaurant and there were not many diners left as it was quite busy about an hour ago. I got a couple more photos before leaving.

I enjoyed FF so much but I do think Blue Zoo was a bit better last night as so exceptional! Still a great dinner! Glad you enjoyed the photos!

Your drink looked delicious and I too love the ambiance of this Abracadabra! So nice that you had the Boardwalk to stroll while waiting for your ADR time. We haven't eaten at FF for at least 7 or 8 years and the last time we were there, the meal was just OK, along with the service, so I'm so glad to see that you enjoyed the experience that night.
