Live, Laugh, Relax with Cam and Fam Completed 7/31 - Page 88 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

WOW! It has taken me FOREVER to cathc up on the TR, but I absolutely loved every detail!
You write so well and take great pics!
We loved staying at the BC last Feb., even if it was only for a few days. I would love to stay there again even if just for one night and be able to swim, eat at B&C and watch Illuminations from the beach. We loved running around the Boardwalk every morning, but I would love time to use the great health club too. I wouldn't even have to go into a Park!
LOVE the Crocs, I just looked on the crocs website and the Disney Store site and didn't see them. Dang, they must be park exclusives. I will definitely have to get my Mom to buy me a pair when they go back down in Oct.
LOVE Property Control! Since my parents are CMs, they can get us in. We can somtimes find really good stuff. When we go in Feb. they usually have lots of leftover halloween, christmas, soaps weekend, F&GF, and F&WF stuff. Very rarely they have leftover Star Wars Weekend stuff. And yes, they have dishes and sheets and things from the hotels and restaurants, but most of the time they are just plain stuff, with no embellishments or anything.
And we used to be able to go into the building where they keep the lost and found stuff, but not anymore. Only CMs are allowed. They always have tons of umbrella strollers, sunglasses, hats, and chargers that people have lost or left behind. This past year my Dad went in with my sister's boyfriend's cellphone to try to find a charger, since he had forgotten his. But no luck!
If you keep going on the road in front of the Contemporary and turn to the right you will see warehouses where they keep decorations and stuff, and the Disney College where they train CMs, then on the left is Property Control, but you can't get in any of these places without a CM. But you can drive through there, no problem!
Can't wait until next year's trip! Have a great school year!

for all the info on Property Control. Now I just need to find a CM.
Thank you so much for sharing your trip!! It sounded absolutely wonderful. We will be going next June too (11th to 17th, then hopping on the Dream ) and definitely plan to try to have lunch with Remy! And who knows, maybe you will hear someone shout "Hey, Cam!" and it will be me.

Look forward to reading your PTR in April!
It would be wonderful to hear a shout out from you! A few that we'll get to meet!
Cam, would you be willing to post a picture of the giraffe watch you bought? Also, can you tell me how much it cost? We usually buy my mother something from AK or AKL because she loves animal print anything. She also loves watches, but I never thought to look for one for her.
thank you SO much for sharing your trip with us! I kind of fell (way) behind on your TR when my computer went on the fritz, so I just have a couple comments.
First: I LOVE that the Snow White you met while on your trip got in contact with you. I AM a little bummed that she won't be there anymore because she is going back to college. I was going to try to find her!
Second: Does Stephanie not like Drizzella? She didn't look very happy in those pictures...whereas she was smiling pretty big with Anastasia and The Stepmother, whom she subsequently said she was tired of...
Third: I am sad that your TR is over. You are seriously an inspiration when it comes to trip reports. Thank you so much for sharing your trips with us! They make me so happy to read, and I feel like I know your family through these reports. I keep telling David "I hope I get to meet Cam and Stephanie and Luke some day when we go to a Star Wars Weekend." He thinks I'm a dork, but I think it would be really cool!

Can't wait to read your next TR!
Stefanie seemed very fascinated with Anastasia, but really didn't like Drizella this time. She may have been smiling with the step-mother, but she flatly said before and after her arrival that she did not like her at all. Too funny!
Cam, I so enjoyed this trip report! I found myself looking forward to coming home from work and relaxing after dinner to read it. I can't wait for the next one! I've got to get a pair of those Crocs Mocs!

Thank you,
Stephanie
Stephanie, I just noticed this post. I'll try to get a picture of the watch tomorrow and post it. I get so many compliments on it and then when folks realize it has a Mickey head on the face, they ooh and aah!

The Croc Mocs are so comfortable and just too cute! I've had lots of folks want them, and then they are disappointed that they are only sold at WDW. I bet disneystore.com could sell a bunch of them.
And my next TR may not be as far away as I had first thought. But nothing's guaranteed yet.

First off Cam, I have to say how much I have loved reading your trip report. It makes me feel like I am right there! And what a wonderful family you have with you, Luke & Stefanie
Thanks to some of the items in your trip reports, we may have to try Chefs de France for lunch. We had dinner there a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but would love to try the lunch special you and Luke had and meet Remy! Also, the Biergarten restaurant is one we have never considered because we were unsure what the food would be like, but your TR has convinced me that we should give it a try on our next trip.
We are hoping to stay at the Beach Club next February. We got upgraded to the Yacht Club a couple of years ago and loved how easily you could walk to Epcot. We definitely spent more time there due to the close proximity.
You certainly had some magical moments on your trip! I hope you can go back sooner rather than later. Again...thanks for sharing your trip with all of us!!
Cam, FDH and I just finished reading your TR to aloud to each other. So awesome! Thank you so much for sharing with us!! Can't wait to hear about thep lans for your next trip!
