A 40th celebration to end the world! THREAD 1 COMPLETED 2/16 - Page 86 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great ride pictures! Luke had read somewhere that the Peter Pan queue will be redone with it becoming interactive, taking up the space where the restrooms have been.
I'm glad Mark got to talk to the construction workers and found out what they're building over there. Great pictures of the Haunted Mansion it's one of my favorite rides. I kind of agree with Mark about Piglet. For some reason he's not one of my favorite characters either. It was good to see pictures of IASW. I haven't been on it in years.
Liz
FINALLY caught back up!! I was more than 10 pages behind again!
So funny, those shots o Mark and anything Piglet related!
Dinner at CG looked so good. I'm starting to dream of Disney trips with just DH and I, no kids (could be the impact of teenage monsters), so that would be on the list for sure!
And I much prefer the theming of the 1 bedroom at BLT over the studios I've seen.
I *think* the old Peter Pan restrooms are going to become an interactive queue line for PP! I love that they are building Rapunzel's tower--It's one of my favorite things from a Disney movie--I have a print of it hanging on my wall!

Now you say that, I remember hearing something about it becoming interactive as well. That would make sense for taking up that area and because of the long waits it always has....

I think it's really neat as well - I loved it in the movie.
Tuesday 11 December – part five: a special treat for Laurie
When we came out of there, there was one thing we really wanted to do – and that was Pirates, because Laurie had told us that being solo and on a scooter, it’s a real nightmare trying to get on it, so she doesn’t usually bother. Well, we weren’t having that! We headed off through Liberty Square…
…. Frontierland…
… then Adventureland…
… and luckily when we got to Pirates, there was only a five minute wait, so in her wheelchair (this is why it’s such a nightmare for her, as she can’t take the scooter through the line), we were off!
I was really disappointed with this ride, as there seemed to be loads of lighting out as we went round. We had to point out Captain Jack’s first appearance to Laurie, as otherwise she’d never have seen it, as it was totally in the dark. I did manage to get some shots on the way round where it wasn’t too dark…
When we got off, I spoke to the Cast Member about it, and she said they had been having some issues with the lighting, but the managers had rode it first thing, and said it was fine. Ok, not my reading of fine, but never mind.
We headed back out into the heat, and made our way back towards Liberty Square, where we said goodbye to Laurie until later.
We were off to the Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch, somewhere we hadn’t eaten in years, since it was a character meal in fact, so I was looking forward to it.
We were quickly seated in the Jefferson dining room….
We both decided to get the New England clam chowder, and I must apologise here, as we both completely forgot to get photos of it. I don’t know what was wrong with us. It was out very quickly, and it was clear that quite frankly it had come out of a soup bucket. It was very salty, and also very thick, and in all honesty, I really didn’t enjoy it at all. It was a real disappointment.
Sadly, the meal didn’t get any better from that point onwards. I went for the crab and spinach dip for two, which had blue crab, cream cheese and spinach in it, with warm flatbread, as my entrée. I was so looking forward to this, but again, it really disappointed. It just tasted of strong blue cheese, so whether it had any in it, I don’t know. The flatbread was also quite greasy, which wasn’t very pleasant either.
Mark went for the Pilgrims’ Feast, traditional roast turkey served with herb bread stuffing, mashed potatoes and a garden vegetable. He was not impressed with it, saying it didn’t have nearly enough gravy on it. I know it also repeated on him later as well.
Our server wasn’t great either. He let both our drinks go empty completely, and I don’t mind if you’re running around like a headless chicken, but he was standing there, chatting to some of the other servers. I was absolutely stunned by that – not busy at all and not doing the job he should’ve been. Needless to say, he did not get a good tip at all.
I really had higher hopes for this meal, but it just didn’t meet them. It will be some time before we try it again…

On the way out, I grabbed a few more photos of the place.
I'd completely forgotten about the lighting problems on Pirates. In my memory, it was just perfect seeing it all again and seeing the updates for the first time. Just so amazing to be able to head down the queue instead of just scooting past. Thanks again!
Your LTT meal doesn't look very good, I'm afraid. I keep hearing such good things about it and am sorry it didn't measure up for you. I headed back for a nap in preparation for staying up for the party!
It is good to hear your thoughts on LTT, we haven't been since i was pregnant with Peter and it was great then. It was different though as it didn't have a menu as was all served family style. I keep thinking about adding it to our ADRs but somehow always keep hesitating and putting it to the bottom of the list.

It was our pleasure!

It wasn't and I've heard a lot of good things about it as well. Such a shame.

The last time we went it was family style food and it was much better back then.
Great pics of the decor and feel from LTT but so sorry that your meal was a disappointment Thumbs up to Mark for helping Laurie and sorry POC was a bit of a let down as well Hopefully thing will improve later in the day
