Star Wars Weekends: Episode IV - New Hope(s) May/June 2012 - Page 86 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It looks like you had a great meal at Sci-Fi. I had originally booked an adr there but changed it to H&V. But I'm definitely trying it next time I visit DW.
Bummer that the rain cancelled the parade! Great lunch at Sci-Fi! I'm always afraid to stray from the burger, too. Glad you were able to fix your insulin pump.

Who's Catherine Taber??? He head shot looks cranky
That does suck about the parade, but the prizes after were still nice and I hope Mike....err, I mean the little boys weren't too upset
I find that wait for Sorcer Mickey to always be not too long, but just long enough to get annoying..for everyone. But glad you all made it through.
I need to get back to Sci Fi one of these days, I wound up canceling that ADR I made for lunch in Sept ( long story) and I agree, Jill's food selections normally peek my intrest too
OK, glad the pump is fixed and you two got a little rest.......I so love those afternoon breaks.
So sorry the parade was cancelled! Sounds like everyone took it in stride though. Lunch sounds yummy - we've never eaten there....one of these years! Hope you felt okay once you got your pump fixed.

So sad about the parade, but, what are you gonna do? Glad they had some consolation gifts, anyway.
Dylan looks really happy to see Mickey, Lucas did his Motherly Obligations and gave Mickey a hug! That is a great picture. I also like the Family Portrait with Sorcerer Mickey.
A cool PP meet with Shelley and Stephanie. I don't know about those boys of yours, Kelly, they seem to gravitate towards the girls a lot... that is a good thing, though! lol
We haven't been to Sci-Fi, but I'm thinking we may give it a try next time. I've always been fascinated by the "car tables".
I hope your pump problems are over, or at least stabilized. Brenda just does the shot once a day.
Awww..sorry to hear about the parade. At least they gave you something though.
I love the Sci Fi, and I love the spinach and artichoke dip. So good! We were planning to skip it next trip...want to try the 50s PTC. However, we enjoyed DHS so much at night this past trip, that we might end up doing both.
Sorry about the parade! I hope the boys (including the DH) weren't too bummed about it. At least they got the little gifts. Looks like a good time was had at Sci-Fi too. I've never been there. We didn't make it to DHS last time so we couldn't check it out, but maybe someday.
I think they were ok. No one complained at least.
I hope you get to try Sc-Fi sometime.

Sounds like you had better luck with Sci-Fi than we did. We avoided it this trip because overall (for the adults) it was our worst meal on our 2010 trip.
Sorry that your pump gave you so much trouble that day - hopefully you were able to fix it when you went back to your hotel?
My friend's son was diagnosed at 2 1/2 with type 1 and it's been a journey to get him approved for the pump. His school doesn't have a full time nurse (they share a nurse with three other districts in the county), and they actually were stating that he would need a parent present at the school three times a day to check his sugars if he wasn't on the pump.
So sorry you had a bad experience at Sci-Fi.
I did get the pump sorted out, so it was good after a break in the room. Now I will know to carry an extra one with me.
It's such a shame that schools are making it so difficult these days.

It was a bummer, but lunch helped make up for it!

Maybe you should take Isaiah to H&V!

I think next time I will go back to the burger, but will stick with the margarita.

Catherine Taber is a voice actress for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. That's about all I know.
That line is deceiving that's for sure.
You will have to share that long story with me sometime. This September trip is becoming quite the hassle isn't it?

Once I got it working and some insulin in my system I was good. Thanks!

They do like girls. The daycare they go to is all women/girls working so I guess they go with what they're used to.
I used to do shots - in high school I was up to 3/day (hormones), but I've been on the pump for almsot 6 years now and I really like it.

It was nice that they gave them something. We did waste some time to figure out if it was going to happen or not.

Glad you got your pump all sorted out. I have new respect for you to have to deal with that and 2 small kids while in the parks.
The boys are always enthralled by the screen. Although they don't seem to be too scared of stuff like that. I mean Dylan laughs at Jurassic Park.
Thanks Holly, but it's just a part of me now and I just do what I have to. It can be a pain sometimes though.

Glad you got your insulin pump straighted up!
Can't wait to hear more!
We tried 50s for the first time (well me & the boys) last September and we LOVED it! I hope you do too!

Boy are your boys getting big!
I know! Looking at them in pictures and Dylan getting so tall!
I need to take pictures of something before I do the next update, so hopefully I'll remember to do that tonight!
Such a shame about the parade. So cute that both boys eventually ended up in the back seat with Shelley and Stephanie. Can't wait to find out about that conversation!
I am all caught up again. The boys haircuts are super cute! Sorry about the parade getting rained out. Remind me not to go to DHS on the days you plan on being there!
