Cheaper by the Dozen – Lukas’ 1st Birthday Extravaganza! - Page 86 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

All caugt up Kelly. Sorry you got split up at dinner. With a large party you sort of expect it but to have a staircase - yuck! That would have annoyed me, to be seperated from my kids - no way.

I don't like all the food, but I do love the things that I do like (does that make sense).

At least they were with Mike and the grandparents. Looking back it always seemed like when we were at separate tables it was us with Mike's parents and my family at the other table. I wish we would've switched it up a bit.
I've got a ressie at
Garden Grill for March, I'm excited!
Love the stories and ready for a PTR!
yay! You're going to love it!
I know! I'm nearing double digits, so I need to wrap this up and start on that soon! Speaking og, are you ever going to update yours? (Or am I just behind?)
I was up first at 6:45am. Lukas had woke up a little bit before that (which is why I was probably awake at that time) but went back to sleep for a bit. I showered and finished packing while everyone else in my family was getting ready. I’m pretty sure I went down and checked in our luggage too before leaving for MK. This morning I it was just the four of us and I was anxious for some ‘alone’ time. I left my other family (parents, brother & Becki) in a rush but I just needed out and a few more moments in my happy place with my boys (all 3 of them).
Kevin & Becki stayed at the resort this morning as DME was picking them up at 11:30am where the rest of us wouldn’t be picked up until 1:30pm. Terry & Vicki went to MK too, but we didn’t pass each other in the park. My parents headed to Epcot once they were all packed up. My Dad wanted another beer from Germany. I think that’s funny because my Dad doesn’t drink a lot. I guess it was really good and/or he was reliving the time we went to Germany and drank a lot of beer.
This is the kind of stuff my Dad takes pictures of. (He's in construction.)
We left AKL a little after 9am and made it to MK soon after. We got so much done in just a few hours – a happy prelude to our upcoming trip I hope! They boys were better behaved – Dylan rode in the stroller happily as neither Mike nor I would be carrying him.
Here’s the rundown of what we did that morning with pics to follow:
PP pic on Main Street
Obligatory pic with the Sword in the Stone for the ‘little’ boys (with their Daddy)
Mike grabbed FPs for PP
Carousel
Pooh
Small World (which I think is Dylan’s favorite ride – he knows the song in an instant of hearing it)
PP (with FPs)
PotC
We were going to try to do Dumbo or Splash Mountain but the wait times were a little too long since we needed to make sure to leave on time. So we went to Casey’s for lunch. The little boys & I had fried and corn dog nuggets while Mike ate one of the gourmet hot dogs. As you can see we were all wearing our Longhorn shirts today and someone pointed out that we were sitting near an A&M family, but there was no rivalry amongst us Disney fans of course. We sat outside on a bench near the restrooms as that was a place I could find to park us all and the giant stroller.
We used the restroom and cleaned up lunch and then headed for the bus. We were on the bus at 12:20pm (after a little jog to get there) and who was on the bus?! My in-laws! It was nice to have some help with the boys and all their stuff. (That is the one thing I dread about next trip – 2 small kids, 2 strollers, and all the stuff that comes with them.)
Once back at AKL we grabbed our stuff from Bell Services and parked in the area by the tv with cartoons. Mike went upstairs and got us a few drinks and snacks from the lounge. My Mom did some last minute shopping in the gift shop. Then it was time to catch the bus. We made no other stops on the way to MCO – a first! – so we were there soon. Lukas had fallen asleep on the bus and was still asleep when arriving to MCO. I let Mike get all the bags and stroller while I went to the SWA counter to get Lukas a boarding pass. I forgot to bring anything but my id with me and was nervous they’d ask for his birth certificate (which I had a copy of in my handy PP) but since he was still asleep maybe they felt sorry for me and issued him a lap boarding pass and I was on my way to meet up with everyone else. We made it through security - which is worse than standing in line at WDW – it’s crazy! It doesn’t take long, just very crowded. Our flight was 20-30 minutes late, so we set up in a seating area and blocked the ‘exits’ from Lukas and hung out until it was time to board. Lukas was very restless and crabby but once we FINALLY got him a drink he fell asleep. The rest of the flight was uneventful
Up next…arriving home and all that comes with it PLUS final thoughts
Wow, 86 pages and it's almost over, but it sounds like even with all those ups and downs you had a very nice trip. I'm assuming the Longhorns are a baseball team? I'm an NFL gal so if it's college football, I still have no clue. Can't wait to read your final thoughts.

Love that you had a little alone time with your 3 boys at the end! I hope to have that with my hh and the 2 kids when we go in October, since there may be 11 of us going.

Looking forward to the final thoughts and will there be a PTR to be on the look out for soon? I am slightly jealous that your next trip is coming up so soon, but reading TRs helps me get through the long wait until our next trip.
