Cheaper by the Dozen – Lukas’ 1st Birthday Extravaganza! - Page 85 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wow that is one of the more affordable tours offered at Disney. I feel like you can go through the park and miss so much, no matter how many times you've been there. Nice pointing out of the Disney crest. Never knew that!
Glad you enjoyed your dinner at GG though your group got split up. The character interaction, in my opinion, is some of the best at GG.
I can't believe you're almost on your last morning before leaving!
Too bad you couldn't all eat together, especially as it was a character meal. The photos show happy boys, though--- except for that one with poor Lukas crying!

He didn't care for Pluto that's for sure.

I'm sure I'll be getting something like that sooner or later (probably sooner) when he has a favorite.

Sorry about that! I know what you mean though. Sometimes it's fun to anticpate a new post but then it's fun to read everything at once too.

You must try GG sometime!

BTW, I have a question about the Tables in Wonderland card. Is it really worth it?
This trip it was definitely worth it plus we'll be using it 2 more times this year since it's good for a year. I kind of estimated what we would order at each meal and calculated that it would save us. And it's good on alcohol. For exaplme, our meal at Via Napoli was just the 4 of us and even though they had gratuity it was like getting a drink (beer or mixed) free. And if you have an AP it's $25 less than just using your DVC membership.

The tour was great and the price was right for it.
The characters at GG are the best! Our first meal was for Thanksgiving in 2006 and we've loved it ever since.
It's sad that it's almost over, but I'll start a PTR real soon for the next trip!
How disappointing that your group got split up. Sounds like you tried to make the best of it though. Can't believe the trip is coming to end!!
It has taken me a while to finish this TR, but just think I'll be going into a PTR soon after!

Mostly TS, there are a few CS - like at the values and AK. I think those are the only places in fact. I just found my brochure with all the places listed the other day. Maybe I'll try to remember to bring it to work so I can scan it and send it to you.

If I haven't told you before, I'm telling you now...you're awesome.
WOW - Dylan has gotten so big! So has Lukas. Its hard to believe that Lukas is almost the age that Dylan was when I met y'all. However, Steph turned 21 this year. They grow just way too fast!
You have some really wonderful photos from this trip. Way too many to comment on since I'm so far behind.
Dylan was such a ham with the Princesses.
Y'all looked awesome for MNSSHP! The costumes came out great and your dad's croc hat was da bomb. Now we see where your creativity comes from.
Sorry Lukas' birthday didn't start out so good but at least in ended more upbeat.
How crazy that it everytime y'all went to HS. Sounds like y'all made the best of it anyway!
I am definately going to try the GG. Do they use the foods from the greenhouse? That was kinda strange that they would seat y'all with that staircase in the middle. Again, looks like y'all made the best of it anyway.
So caught the "A Christmas Story" shout out. Not a big fan of meatloaf myself. In our house, we are usually saying the entire movie at some point when we have it on for those 24 hours.
Kelly, even though there was alot of planning and some of the experiences weren't quite what you had expected or you felt a little down about them, just reading through your TR and seeing all the wonderful photos you can tell you did a great job and everyone had an awesome time! I, too, know what it feels like to not feel as excited or pleased about your trip, especially after all the planning. My May 2011 trip, although we had a great time, I was kinda bummed and flustered for most of it.

Thanks so much Shelley! I love that last bit you wrote too. Makes me think better about the trip. I'm probably the only one that had 'bad' moments, so I guess it's good everyone else had a fabulous time!
And I hope you get to use that pin code you got so we can see each other again real soon!

Sorry you guys got split up for dinner....that would have taken some of the fun away for me as well, but I can see them having issues with larger parties here because of the seating arrangement. Glad everyone enjoyed though and that the boys nejoyed their birthday desserts. It has been awhile since we have been back there and I keep meaning to add it to the list...have to see if we can fit it in for July, the girls have alredy created a list of meals...trying hard to figure where to even schedule those in
I'm working that angle and a few others!! I will let you know as soon as something is solid.
Whoohoo!

I know the feeling about scheduling! I think it gets harder every trip. And the main thing I schedule is meals - we work around those for everything else.

Okay so I got totally caught up...First you have the most handsome little men on earth they are too precious Second let me say you are my hero...We have talked back and forth about going as a large family and I just don't think I could do it to plan for everyone and you did it with such grace and handled it very well even with the "Bad" moments.. also you have given me great ideas what to do with our boys when we take them in sept 2013 as they will be the same age as your boys were form this trip...and lastly when you get the time and chance could you send me the info for the photog you used because those pictures were amazing
Glad I didn't get too far behind. Sorry you didn't get to sit together at GG. We ate there once, but I wasn't impressed with the food. Very curious about the bill and your payment.
