10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 83 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
I’m Hoping This is Better Than My Last Time Here in 2005!
Thursday, October 12th (Part V) I awoke from a great nap at around 7:45 pm. I have an ADR at 8:30 pm, but I’m not worried about making it there on time as little transportation involved, being close by. I purposely made this ADR at a later time as I had the seminar and did some sampling at the kiosks at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival earlier. I didn’t want to be full going into dinner!
I got ready for dinner and watched some TV for a while. I left my room around 8:20 pm and took the elevator down to the lobby. I headed across the lobby to the other side and down the escalators where I’ve been regularly using to walk to Studios and Epcot. When I arrived at the bottom of the escalator my restaurant was staring right at me!
I told you it was close!
I’m hoping this is better than my last time here in 2005. The restaurant had just been open for a few weeks and I was familiar with Todd English on some culinary programs he did on PBS, The Food Network and others. I was staying at the Boardwalk Inn and being close by I decided to give it a try. I was a bit mixed on it as my overall experience wasn’t great. The service was fine as was the décor but the cuisine could have been far better. I had a fish filet of some variety and it was quite dry as being overcooked! It just didn’t have much flavor to it either. When Cheryl reviewed this restaurant in her TR a while back and had such a great dining experience, I decided to give it another try. I hope she’s right!
I checked in for my 8:30 pm ADR and was escorted to my table immediately. I always remember how beautiful and stunning the décor was inside the restaurant and it still is. It seemed like a busy night and it was about three quarters full, which is good considering now that it’s 8:30 pm. I’m sure it will thin out quite a bit during my dinner.
My server came to my table and went over the menu with me and some of his recommendations. I forget his name but he was quite attentive to my table and knowledgeable about the menu, restaurant, food and wine as well. Just who you want serving you.
I ordered a glass of Silverado Sauvignon Blanc and gave my server my first two course selections for the evening. A few minutes later he returned with my glass of wine as well as some bread (I forget what kind as I didn’t take a photo of it) accompanied by butter flavored with fennel sea salt. I enjoyed this very much!
While, I was enjoying the bread, I got some photos and it will give you a good idea how nice the décor is.
That’s my server attending to a nearby table
View from my table
I had to get up for this photo but great views of the kitchen can be seen from many of the tables.
Once, I returned to my table my first course was brought to me by my server.
Teppan Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops with Braised Beef Short Ribs in a Silky Cauliflower Puree
This looked very good and it was! It was exceptional and to die for! I couldn’t fault this course in any way as it packed so much flavor and the scallops and short ribs were cooked to perfection. Probably as good as anything you’ll get at the California Grill and that’s saying something! I wish this had been a main course as I wanted more of it!
My server returned and cleared my plate and settings. I told him how good it was as I took his recommendation on it. It’s a winner. I ordered another glass of Sauvignon Blanc as I didn’t have much left from enjoying this course with it.
My server brought my glass of wine and shortly after this, my main course.
Mero Fish (Hawaiian Sea Bass) with a Miso Glaze accompanied by Shitake Ginger Rice, Black Garlic and Sticky Soy
This was excellent as well although, I think my appetizer was better. Not to fault this course in any way but it would be tough to top that one! The rice had a lot of flavor as did the Mero and the miso glaze and sauce went well with it. It was cooked perfectly and had quite a variety of flavors to it.
Once I had finished, my server returned and I told him how good it was. He asked if I had room for dessert and I told him, I think I did. I looked over the choices and went with something not too filling as I was a bit full from the meal and probably a carryover from the festival as well. I also ordered a double espresso.
Dessert and Trio of Sorbets. I can’t remember which ones these are but were very good and not too filling. One was definitely raspberry.
Once I had finished, I asked my server for the check and I settled the bill. It was brought rather quickly, which isn’t always the case as often you’re playing the waiting game as some servers aren’t as attentive as mine was. Plus, it was less busy now than earlier.
This was a great meal and I enjoyed it so much from start to finish. I can’t fault my overall experience in any way from the service and great cuisine in every course. This is quite different than my first experience back in 2005. I will certainly return! Of course, I must thank Cheryl for the great review as I may not have dined here on this trip!
I began to leave the restaurant, but before doing so, I got a few more photos of Todd English's BlueZoo.
I took the escalator back up to the lobby and the elevator as well to my floor. I cleaned up after my dinner as well as get my things ready for tomorrow as it will be my last full day in WDW. It was about 10:15 pm or so, but I wasn’t ready to call it a night just yet. I would just wind it down a bit in a relaxing way.
NEXT: Well, At Least The Crowds Aren’t Here Tonight!

Oh, it most certainly was and I was awed just how good it was! A definite 180 reversal from my first experience in February/March, 2005. If you get the opportunity, you should dine here one night as I think you and Luke would enjoy it.
It's about a ten minute walk from Epcot's International Gateway, which is always enjoyable at night. Especially, when the Boardwalk is all lit up each evening and the views across the lake of the Beach Club and Yacht resorts (depending on time of year). Plus there isso much to see during the walk. Always some good entertainment near the BWI.
I'm so glad Cheryl steered me in the right direction with her experience and therefore I gave it a second try! No regrets!

Phew - I am so glad you enjoyed bluezoo, given you were dining there based on my review. Talk about pressure! I always worry when I rave about eating somewhere, then someone goes there, as I hope it's as good as our experience. It sounds as if was though.

Sorry, I put the pressure on you for this as your review was so good I had to try it again! And mine was as good as yours.

So glad you enjoyed your meal, I always give a restaurant 2 chances as sometimes they just have an off day.
That is often the case unfortunately. Could be what you selected or from inexperienced servers and staff.
