A Spring Adventure: Wilderness, Flowers, and the Force (with Cam and Luke) PTR Updated 5/22 - Page 82 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Left it out in my post, how much I love those luggage tags! For me I'd go with either Donald or Goofy!

Wow! Just two weeks until you are in the bubble! I have about six weeks. I love those luggage tags. After seeing your pictures I immediately went to Disney Movie Rewards to see how many points I needed to get one of my own. LOL Jamie talked me out of it in favor of saving up for more free movies. ~sigh~
I had quite a few points, so I got the tags and a movie. But I always hold out until there is something I really want to spend the points on.

We had a busy day, so no movies for us today, but hopefully, I can watch African Cats tomorrow.
Nice little update! We'll be getting the rain you have tomorrow and through at least Thursday and a bit of Friday! The forecast here for Wednesday is about 4 " of the wet stuff! The other days, will be showers, but will add up. Will be wishing for the sun rather soon!
The temps will be all over the place with highs the next three days of 58, 47 (amazing being the last day of April in CT. This isn't Alaska, but I'm starting to wonder, where I really am now and 72 on May 1st!. Reat of the week in mid 60's, which is normal). Average temp. of 70 is May 15, to give you an idea.
Cam, I hope you avoided most of the turbulent weather in your area as they had in the Southeast yesterday in Arkansas and parts of the midwest. I heard there were tornadoes again in Joplin, Missouri. Makes me think of the two great PP's we lost to those horrific storms a few years ago (Spring 2011, I think) in the same town. Unbelievable and so sad as I remember them so well here! Unfortunately, they occur far too often in areas like that.
We had severe thunderstorms off and on yesterday afternoon and evening, but nothing too bad. We have the possibility of some severe weather tonight, but right now the sun is still shining. Every time I think of tornadoes, I think of Glen and Lorie. Miss them!

I hope Luke starts feeling better *soon*! Allergies are the pits. I take meds year round for them (I'm allergic to many things), but I usually get super sick in the spring and fall. This year, my dr. put me on Flonase early as a preventative (I've never taken it) and knock on wood, it seems to be working. Maybe something like that would help Luke? I mean, usually at this time in April, I'm coughing so much that I have to sleep on the couch for weeks, I'm miserable, etc. I have to say that this year, I've had a few times where my ears/throat would hurt, but it's gone by morning.
I can't believe your trip is so close. WooHoo!!!
Luke has been on Flonase in the past, but then he developed nose bleeds. He does okay with saline sprays though.

Yes, another "thank you" for your This Day in Disney History facts! Fun! I never put it together that King Stefan was SB's father and not Cindy's....funny! Love the luggage tags! You are getting close!
I don't think I had ever paid attention to the fathers' names for either Aurora or Cinderella. So it was an interesting fact.

I will definitely takes lots of pictures of the fairy gardens as I 'd like to do the same in our flower bed off our screened porch.
I'm so bad when it comes to using my Disney Movie Rewards. I have so many because I never use them, and then when I go to actually do it, I can never figure out what I want to use them on. Too many big decisions I guess.
I'm the same. When the e-mail came with the luggage tags, I was still hesitant to spend the points. Luke asked if I was saving them for something particular, but I wasn't. So I got brave and spent some points. I think I might be more careful with my points than I am sometimes with my money.

I am finally caught up again! the new VB I have it in Mocha Rose & use it all the time. It holds a TON of junk...ummm stuff I use it all the time (stuff it full for dance competition weekends, vacations, even for work) The inside pockets are very deep. So deep that I sometimes find things in the very bottom for 2 vacations/trips before LOL
It's hard to believe it's been 2 years. I know what you mean, I HAVE to be with Joe on Robert's Angel Day. I always find myself thinking that Stefanie is teaching Robert all about WDW & it makes my heart smile!!
Sorry to hear Luke's allergies are giving him a hard time. I feel his pain! My spring allergies have surprisingly gotten better since I switched allergy meds. Hopefully they continue to improve so Luke is 100% by Disney Time.
I the new luggage tags ~ so cute!
I'm glad the bag will hold so much as I may very well stuff it. That is a wonderful thought about Robert and Stefanie. Makes me smile, too!

ETA: Netflix also has DisneyNature: Wings of Life. We just watched it last week.
I haven't seen Wings of Life, so I'll have to check that out on Netflix.

don't forget about your local Library - they have movies too. I watched Disney Frican Cats from them.
It is so sad watching these beautiful animals and realizing how hard it is to surrive. They spend their entire life finding food, not becoming food and reproducing.
Make ne realize how spoiled my 2, fat, lazy house dogs are.
I know it might be weird for an English teacher, but I don't have a library card. It's a long story, so to boil it down, I was publicly humiliated by a librarian here while I was pregnant with Stefanie. I did make sure Stefanie had a card and took her when she was little. But I avoided running in to the book nazi ever again.
Add me to the list of people who love the luggage tags please! I'm off to check if they're available on the UK version of Disney Movie Rewards but am not at all hopeful...
Hope you find the tags on the UK version! I was afraid if I didn't get ours right away they'd sell out.

Poor Luke has suffered with throat/sinus/allergy problems most of his life. He is feeling better though.
Two interesting events occurred on this day in the same year.
On this day in 2011, the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was broadcast live from Westminster Abbey on large screens in the lobby of the Dolphin hotel at Walt Disney World beginning at 5 a.m. Meanwhile over at Disney's Wedding Pavilion, Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons hosted their very first tweetup at the Walt Disney World Resort for a Royal Sleepover. Wearing wedding gowns and pajamas, guests watched the Royal Wedding live on big screen televisions in the pavilion and outside on the beach. At Epcot, the United Kingdom Pavilion was decorated with flags in honor of the special occasion and cast members greeted one another with calls of "happy wedding day!"
Luke and I were married just a few weeks prior to Prince Charles and Diana. I made Luke move the TV to the bedroom the night before, and then I set the alarm to be up in time to watch the ceremony. The whole thing was repeated in 2011 for Prince William and Kate. I love royal weddings!
The second event was over on the West Coast. The Disney Wonder sailed under the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco for the very first time. The ship was charting a course up the West Coast to reposition for Disney's first-ever voyage to Alaska.
The storms last night set off our weather radio numerous times, but nothing horrible came our way. Thank goodness! The weather had cleared up this morning, but there was a threat of rain in the afternoon. So Luke, allergies and all, went out early to mow and edge the lawn. When I got home (I volunteer on Tuesday mornings at my church’s clothes closet.), he had mud up to his elbows. He had discovered while doing the edging that the drains from the house were clogged, and he was in the process of cleaning them out. At lunch, he had a spell of coughing. He said he had been feeling much better until he worked on the lawn. He took more medicine and has been doing quite well all evening.
The only Disney prep today was another session for each of us at the tanning bed.
We had severe thunderstorms off and on yesterday afternoon and evening, but nothing too bad. We have the possibility of some severe weather tonight, but right now the sun is still shining. Every time I think of tornadoes, I think of Glen and Lorie. Miss them!
I really want to see Bears, too!
Thanks for keeping us all informed. The weather has been quite bad down in your area and much more so further south and specially NC today! Glad to hear all is well and the storms weren't too bad. Our turn up here tomorrow, but not the severity, but lot of rain and temps in the 40's. UGH! Thursday, will be in the 70's for a big change from that.
I think about Glen and Lorie quite often! So glad they're so remembered here so much. Just so tragic as you never know....especially in that part of the country!

I'm hoping this spring/summer isn't plagued with severe weather.
