Cheaper by the Dozen – Lukas’ 1st Birthday Extravaganza! - Page 80 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm sure someone in my family would've taken him but I didn't want to move him too much - I'm sure you know how that goes.
Been there many times. I've had friends/family offer to take DS when I'm carrying a sleeping lump and they look at me like I'm crazy when I decline. Sometimes it's just to risky to shuffle the kid.

A fire alarm!?!?! Of course it's when you're carrying your sleeping child whose weight has increased by like 50%! Thank goodness it wasn't anything serious, but if that was my child I'd be so embarrassed. Was that your first time at 50's PTC? That is one of our must do's, and the meatloaf is my favorite. I love the photo of Dylan smiling at Joey...just too cute!
Ugh to the alarm! How annoying especially when you're carrying dead weight.
Smart mama for bringing a change of clothes for the spit up! Glad you enjoyed PTC! I agree with you on the meatloaf. I don't get the fascination with it either!!!
It was only the last few days I needed the extra clothes, but was glad I had them with me. I plan to do this next trip as well.

Yuck on the fire alarm, though! Glad Lukas wasn't disturbed. Our DD slept through the canon fire in the 1812 Overture when she was about that age. And the canons were RIGHT in front of us!
Kids are so funny! Guess the sleeping through stuff is along the lines of them not feeling the cold too.

I wonder what the kid was doing that they decided to pull that, how old they were, and where the parents were when it all happened.
Yes, that was my first visit to 50s (and the boys and my family). Mike & his family had been before but it had been years. I'm sure we'll definitely try it again.
Glad you had an excellent meal at PT 50's. I the meatloaf!!! And the s'mores I want to go there for dinner now!!! What a way to end the day with the fire alarm. I'm sure that kid's parents were not too happy with him!
Great day. I love PTC and it is so great when you get a great cast member to play along. Love the Christmas story comment. perhaps if you eat your meatloaf like a little piggy you'd like it too.
sorry about the fire drill. I have several alarms in my house all wired together and baout a month ago one of the batteries got low in one and set all the alarms off at 1am. Evan never even moved. So much for the alarms waking him up in a real emergency. I thought the dogs were going to die of fright that night.

I will not be eating my meatloaf like a piggie. :
We have a cabon monoxide detector at home and it has a test button, well Lukas thought he should push it. 3 times last night! And he laughed after every time. So he went straight to bed after that last time. Mean mommy.

"I woke up about 5:40pm to fix my hair and throw in some laundry. I think I didn’t know where anyone was and it started to get closer to the ADR time and I was still tired and spent and I lost it. I just broke down and cried. It still makes me teary sitting here typing this. This is not how I imagined by baby boy’s 1st birthday. But I tried to pull myself together as we had dinner at Boma at 6:25pm."
I'm trying to catch up, but I'm only on page 113. I just wanted to comment here. Although I didn't actually get as far as crying, I too, had a "meltdown" of sorts during our trip last week. It was actually after the very first few hours in WDW! I hate that I felt that way, but sometimes emotions just get the best of us. I hope things got better for you {I'm going back to get all caught up}. Things turned around for me after I realized that I can't make or expect my family to feel the way I do about Disney. I just love everything about it and I don't get why others don't feel the same. After I got over that, I made up my mind I wouldn't let it happen again. Looking back at our pictures from the first few hours that day, brings back a reminder of how disappointed I was feeling. Glad you shared this with us, as it makes me feel a bit better about my feelings last week. Ok....going back to read more. BTW....you have such cute boys!!

Aw, thanks Susan! I never did get around to your PTR, so I'll just get to the TR. I did finally read your trip from last year though.
And it does get better. There are still moments, but it did get better. I'm very much looking forward to our next trip when it's just the 4 of us.
And thank you about my boys.
I just got a ting a tip I was reading about Garden Grill and it was yours about the 9" Vinylmation you got Mike for his birthday! So cool, as that trip was the start of my vinylmation obsession! LOL! I made it a favorite!
I am all caught up on your trip report and loving every minute of it! I am sorry you are having bad moments here and there, and that you felt like something was off on this trip. I felt that way on my last trip too. Your boys are adorable. I has to laugh about Dylan not wanting the apple after it was cut. I can't wait to read the rest!

That's awesome! I just got another one - well I think I did, if I ever get around to opening the box. I think we'll use it this trip for character autographs. The plain ones are hard to come by so I snatched it up.
