As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Looks like you're having a wonderful time at Epcot. So glad Ciaran is enjoying some new rides! My boys were very cautious about many rides when they were younger, too...so I remember well what it was like when they actually started trying things and loving them.
BTW, is the pineapple lolly an ice lolly or a hard candy? Thanks for the info!

The pineapple lollies are fruit ices! I can attest to the yumminess--although I didn't have one this trip--they got iceys and we got diet cokes before heading in separate directions! We are watching the sugar intake!

Sunday 10 April – part three: earning ears at Teppan Edo
We had a look through the shops at the Port of Entry and I saw the perfect 2011 T-shirt, but sadly they only had them in a small. I asked the Cast Member in there and explained that MouseGears didn’t have any. I wasn’t surprised when she told me to have a look at Downtown Disney, so that’s a job for tomorrow then...
We headed over to get a Friendship across the lagoon, but while we were there, I realised the one we were going to get would take us to Germany, still leaving us with quite a hike. We saw the other Friendship was in dock, so we hurried over there, assuming we’d missed it, but we lucked out and it was still waiting for us and deposited us in Morocco, so we had a much shorter walk to our destination.
I went for a wander through Mitsukoshi, meeting a lovely Cast Member from Tokyo in there, leaving Mark to go up to Teppan Edo to see if the others were there yet. Just as I came out, I saw Sean, Sharon and Ciaran, about to go up the steps to Teppan Edo, so I joined them and we checked in.
Literally as I walked away from the podium, the buzzer went off and we were taken in with a couple from Allentown in Pennsylvania, which we had visited in December when we did the PassPorter meet there.
We had two Cast Members earning their ears with us, which meant that things took a little longer than perhaps they should’ve done. I felt so sorry for our main server, as she was obviously being scored on her performance and was exceptionally nervous. When she handed me my drink, her hand was shaking so much, I was amazed she didn’t spill it. I ended up having two Tokyo Sunsets, while Mark settled with just the one! The drinks were slow in coming and poor old Ciaran was suffering, waiting for his.
For appetiser, we decided to share the sushi sampler....
... and the tempura, which included vegetable (zucchini and sweet potato), shrimp and chicken. I asked for the chicken to be brought out on the side, but that was a huge mistake. It turned up with the rest of it, so the manager, who’d heard me say that, sent it back and asked them to bring it back out. They did, with no chicken, and none ever appeared. Poor Mark!
For the main course, I went with the new addition to the menu, the swordfish steak, as my old favourite of shrimp and lobster or shrimp and salmon (I don’t remember which, but it was definitely a fish combo) seemed to have gone... Oh my goodness, the size of the piece of swordfish he cooked was quite something!

Mark went for the beef and chicken Nihonbashi dish.
The chef, as usual, put on quite a performance and I’m sure we’ve had him serve us before. Ciaran wasn’t overly interested, as he was happy playing on his game, but he did look up a couple of times and enjoyed what he saw, which was the main thing, as we thought it would be fun for him. Sean and Sharon seemed to really enjoy their meal and, as Sean said to me later, there’s no way they would’ve come here, had we not suggested it, so I’m glad we did.

Did they cook your fish on a different portion of the grill than the other meat?? Or by chance before the others? From the series of photos it looks like it happened right after the meat, which I know you wouldn't have let happen.
I could clearly picture Ciaran playing his game and being really good.

Just catching up--things have been hopping here at Casa Larry....
It was so great that it worked out for Bob and me to come down and we had such fun with you and Mark and Wendy and family and Heather and Brandon, even if it was much too short.
Great, great pictures of the Castle (and I also heartily recommend "The Magic, the Memories and You"), and marvelous pics of some of my favorite shells from Wishes!
I have not seen this sign previously, but it resonates with a picture coming up in my trip report!
Hope it's not all that long before we can run around, "face the wall" and otherwise have fun again!
