Me, Laura and Our Adventures with no boys!!!!! PTR - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Why am I just discovering this PTR? I know! You started it as I was leaving for my cruise. Sad I missed some of the action and that I couldn't join in the banter as you made your usual changes to the plans. But, I'm here now. You have a great trip planned. Your sister is one lucky gal.
P.S. Can you adopt me?
My sister is pretty awesome herself!! I would love to adopt you and you are always welcome to join us!!

I am shocked that you made a change, I think your sister is going to be very happy.
I know it's hard to believe!! I think my sis will love it!!

So!! This trip was pretty much taken care of and the last one that I thought there would be any changes to...……………
HOWEVER!!!!
My sister sent me a text this morning that said:
"Give me call when you can. The Disney dates are changing and Dave is insisting I change ours. We will pay any extra charges. There is a meeting I am going to this Thursday and I will know for sure after that."
OH. MY. GOSH.
Can't I ever just have a normal trip like everyone else?!?!?!
ANYWAY!!!
I called my sister back when I got the message and she said that Angela's trip dates were now from December 8th through the 12th and that her husband, who I normally like very much, would not allow her to go from the 6th- 11th.
Honestly, we spend no time with Angela on this trip!!
I asked her why not and she said that he did not want to stay by himself more than he had to. I could see that she was very upset so I told her that I would do what I could on this end to fix things. Then I hung up the phone and started crying.
Muffin said that although he loves my sister's husband, he is a huge baby. He told me to take a deep breath and move on. He also said that if things could not be changed to accommodate my sister then he would have no problem with me going by myself for 2 days without her.
I know that this may sound easy for us because Muffin travels as well but, honestly, so does Dave!! I am just so sad for Laura. So!!
I first checked online. It appeared that I could change the resort reservation easily enough. BUT!
When I went to check out it said that my reservation could not be changed online and that I needed to speak with a CM.
OK.
I called the number given on the website and spoke with a CM named Jackie. She was beyond amazing. She checked and then double checked and then asked me to describe exactly what I saw on the website.
I explained that the website let me get all the way to checkout where it told me that I owed a difference of 16.83 for the change but then would not put it through.
She told me not to give up and put me on hold while she contacted guest services. I was on hold for the better part of 20 minutes and then she finally came back on saying that everything was good.
I thanked her profusely and the term angel may have been thrown around. Then I told her that I needed to be put in touch with ticketing for another reason. I had booked MVMCP for December 6th and even with the DVC discount had spent 200 bucks on that party. I needed to know if it could be changed to December 11th.
I explained that even if it couldn't, I appreciated all that Disney had done thus far. She put me in touch with another lovely CM named Alaina. At this point, I was crying and Alaina told me promptly that nothing was that important. She listened carefully to my story and told me immediately that Disney had no problem changing dates as both parties in question were not sold out.
She took my information, checked to make sure, and then immediately gave me a new confirmation number for December 11th and told me to destroy the original tickets as soon as I received the new ones. She also immediately sent me an email which I have as a reference.
Next I had Muffin change my airline tickets. This worked out to cost him 1,300 more points but was easy as pie. I actually have the same flights.
I then called my sister to let her know that things had worked out just fine. She will call me on Thursday after her meeting at Angela's school to let me know about flights for her.
It now appears that I will have a whole day to myself!! I am still flying down to Orlando on December 7th. Laura will now fly down with Angela and then meet me at the WL. We may or may not be on the same flight back and at this point, and please take this the right way, I don't care. These are first world country issues.
I had to change many ADR's around as well. I am so glad that I did not post any final plans here.
I am so angry with my sister's husband right now and frankly, so is Muffin. However. this will all work out.
I didn't need to change any time off at work and I will just have to go to Disney Springs without Laura. Everything else worked out okay. I feel terrible for my sister but things could be much much worse. I told her we should be thankful that we are not in Adrienne's shoes right now. Not to make her feel bad. Just to put things in perspective.
Oh, my gosh!! If it's not one thing, it's another. I can't imagine that her husband is being such a baby about this. He travels and leaves her alone, and he can't deal with a couple of extra days without her? I'm glad you were able to get everything worked out with Disney. Sorry it came to tears for you, but I'm sure it wasn't just these trip changes working on your emotions. I hope that you and your sister are able to have a truly magical time together.
