As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

October 6, 2017-Enjoying an amazing dinner at Victoria & Albert's with PP's Dot and Drew

Wow! That puts the Adventure class ships to shame, and we love them. I look forward to sailing on one of hte Oasis class ships now.
We had our first RCCL cruise on the Voyager and have many fond memories . At the time, it was the largest cruise ship afloat. Then we went on the Liberty and were bowled over!! But the Oasis class is our heart!! The layout of the ships is incredible and what people say about it not feeling crowded with 6000 of your closest friends is true!! You must try it!!!

You are definitely in our boat with all of that!! As you know we are foodies and have tasted some of the finest food on land or sea on board these vessels!! You would absolutely adore Vintages as well!! Central Park is our favorite neighborhood!!
Once we've unpacked, we will head to Vitality Spa. We are hoping to secure a Thermal Suite pass for the week which, like the Rainforest pass on Disney ships, allows access to thermal loungers, a sauna and a steam room as well as scrubs. There are a very limited number of these sold, so we shall see what happens.
Around 3:30 PM, we will have to make our way back to the room and change and then find our muster station. After the Colonel Mustard drill, we always attend the sail away party which really puts you in the spirit of cruising. But let me back up a minute!!
The muster drill is always a breeze anymore. Gone are the days of actually going to the outside on deck. We assemble in an inside area and the awesome and very serious crew members show us how to inflate our life jackets and use the . When we are done with this brief instruction, our favorite part of the muster drill occurs!! We watch an adorable cartoon with a catchy little song called "Wash Your Hands"!! Muffin and I always sing it throughout the cruise and even at home sometimes!! For anyone interested, just search on YouTube for the RCCL 'Wash Your Hands' video. It is hysterical!! Just be warned that you will sing this song in your brain!!
That about culminates the muster drill and then we will head up to the top deck to watch the sail away, of course with a delicious drink.
After sail away, we plan to get ready for our first night's dinner at the Chef's Table. Some of you know that we have done this amazing experience on other cruises we have taken. The meal costs 95 bucks a person and is akin to Victoria and Albert's. Honestly. We usually have enough RCCL visa credit to pay for it, but I would gladly pay the fee as you simply cannot get an elegant, intimate dining experience on land for anywhere near this price. Wine pairing is also included and the chef will prepare special dishes for those with food allergies (such as Muffin) as well!
We love doing this the first night of the cruise as we tend to make friends for the week!!! The absolute nicest people tend to book this event. Then we all are plied with wine which definitely makes the socializing part easier!! Anyway!
First off, you get a formal personalized invitation to the event in your stateroom and it makes me feel like I am going to a ball!! We also wear our formal night clothes for this which makes it even more special!!
On the Oasis of the Seas, the room we go to is on the second level of the Concierge Club. We meet our group on the first level of the club for champagne and get to mingle a little bit before being led upstairs to our dining room.
There is a long table set up for a maximum of 14 guests. The table is set with beautiful dishes, glasses and silverware and always looks gorgeous!!
The chef stands at the head of your table and there is a sommelier present. They introduce themselves and give a little background. The chef then explains how each course is prepared and the sommelier explains why the particular wine that was chosen goes with it. You can ask questions along the way and I always learn a ton about all that goes into food and wine preparation.
There are five courses presented and they are all small plates, which is fabulous as it lets you truly enjoy the whole meal without feeling stuffed!! There is generally an order to the presentation in that it starts with an appetizer followed by a soup. After that there is usually a meat dish and then a fish dish and then finally dessert.

The whole dinner takes about three hours and is not only delicious, but so much fun. We have done this meal several times and have yet to have bad food or bad company and we are really looking forward to it!!
Lastly, worth mentioning is that you also get an autographed cookbook and a fun apron!! You can keep your menus and place cards as a souvenir of the event!!
After dinner, we plan to go to either the casino for a bit or maybe stop in a club. We will see where the night takes us!!

Great plans continuing for your cruise. I'm afraid to watch that video as I think the song may be implanted in my head like after being on IASM! The Chef's Table sounds amazing and something I'd most certainly do! I remember this from one of your other RCCL adventures not too long ago.
