Yes, It IS About the Food OR Two Foodies Do WDW From Table To Table--TR - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Should have clarified: No pics of our momentary neighbor's dessert. The CM server's back was to our table, and I felt it rude to ask her to stand to one side in order for us to take a photo.
You know you're a real DA (Disney Addict) when you can't think of much of anywhere else you'd rather eat on a Saturday night than BOG.
So, here we are, just past the check-in counter waiting...waiting, feeling smug because a young woman in line ahead of us was told very politely that there simply wasn't any way she could eat here tonight without calling the dining line and MAYBE getting a cancellation. Apparently, said person hadn't a clue about BOG, because the CM explained that no reservation could be made at the restaurant.
All the more reason we are soooooo grateful we stumbled onto the PassPorter guides and you fabulously helpful people.
I can't believe we have only one more day!!!! We've had SUCH fun, but no matter how long the stay, it's never long enough. Oh, well, we've one more Mine Train tomorrow morning after Crystal Palace. Then, we say goodbye to Mickey with the Anna/Elsa meet 'n' greet mid-afternoon.
Guess I'll have a Basin White bath bomb ordinary bath before dressing for V&A's. Disney compensated us nicely for the Jacuzzi's refusing to Jacuuuze, but I'm still pouting. You'll see why when we post room pics with photos of this gorgeous bathtub with its waterfall faucet. It'll do, because it has to as the concierge advised us the pumps are shot cookies and must be replaced.
Dagnabit! One of these years, we're gonna get one of these tubs that works.

Well, I guess at least Disney finally know something needs to be done with that Jacuzzi and they'll get it sorted - shame it wasn't in time for your stay though.
Update: In Which, Despite Petty Tub Grievances, Life At Disney Does Go On
Nothing really to picture about yesterday's Kona Cafe breakfast. Sure were glad we knew about all the lobby renovation, or we could have been dismayed by all the barricades. I hadn't visualized what an alteration in entering the Poly would result.
The work appears to be quite extensive and somewhat mars the tropical feel the lobby once had. As ever, Disney decorated the barricades so it all coordinates, but it really is somewhat a mess despite all those efforts.
But, we made our way to Kona easily although not nearly as scenically as in the past where Drew ordered a pretty standard steak and eggs with grits. Again, superb grits, intensely flavorful with the consistency of a soft custard.
I had The Samoan which proved to be smoked pulled pork over a bed of fried diced potatoes, beautifully fried, too. There are potatoes and "ick" when it comes to frying them. These were barely crispy and not a bit mushy, easier said than accomplished when frying potatoes diced as small as these, about a half inch.
Above those lovely potatoes was the fork-tender pulled smoked pork, very mildly smoky and the very apogee of PORK flavorwise. Top those layers with one perfectly poached egg and another that was more medium than soft, and you still have plenty to make a blanket of mellow hollandaise very happy. I generally make my hollandaise rather more lemony with a dash of Colman's dried mustard to perk it up. This was more bland, possibly deliberately, so that it didn't distract from the delicate smoke-flavored shredded pork.
A pile of watercress gave the whole eye appeal, and it tasted as fantastic as it all looked. So much, that I could only eat about half.
With Kona coffee, of course. A delightfully mellow blend with not a smidgen of bitterness, frequently refreshed by our server whose cheery disposition brightened our morning and sent us off to explore with big smiles on our faces.
That was the essence of what Walt wanted every aspect to deliver to guests, and Kona did that for us with panache. Encouraged us to spend money, too. I bought Stitch mitts and had a great time "threatening" little kids with my paws and Stitch growl. Doggone things are as warm as heavily insulated mittens, so I wore them off and on since it was lightly raining but VERY warm yesterday. A Disney rain poncho proved to be too warm most of the day, Stitch-Me performed intermittently, much to Drew's relief, I expect. I can be as silly and relentless as any four-year-old when I get going on some fun playacting like that.
Must admit that a Maleficent hat worn with Stitch paws does look rather schizophrenic.
So, that was yesterday's breakfast and subsequent fun.
Drew's bugging me to shuddup and get in the shower to go meet Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace. Better get going...

I love Kona for breakfast. We try to go there every trip. DH gets the Tonga Toast (bananas = yuck for me!) and I always get the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes.
I'm going to be fascinated to see what we make of the Poly when we head there for breakfast at 'Ohana in February - I'm anticipating a building site and, by the sounds of it, if I go in with that expectation, I won't be too upset by what I find....
Update: Crystal Palace Breakfast and GREAT Fun Meeting Pooh and Friends
Honestly, as foodie-persnickety as I can be about restaurant fare, I must say that CP has one of the best character meal breakfasts at WDW.
The atmosphere is light, bright and cheery. The characters do a great job of interacting. Just a yummy experience all round.
I had fun with Piglet. Said, "Piglet, I've been wondering. Do you like acorns?"
Enthusiastic head bob for yes.
"Do you like corn?"
Vigorous head shake for nooooooo.
"What about chocolate?"
And Piglet claps hooves and does a little dance.
So, in case you were wondering what goodies to share with Piglet, now you know.
DH Drew was being semi-good and had two danish with grits, a chocolate croissant and then asked me to get him a small bowl of Pooh's honey yogurt.
I oinked it with half a not-so-great bagel with cream cheese topped with strawberry preserves, a half dozen strips of very tasty bacon (but didn't tell Piglet about that!), two link sausages and a really good plain croissant with far more butter and orange marmalade than I should.
Coffee was okay but no competition with Kona's, that's for sure.
And about an hour later, I had my very first pineapple Dole whip. WOW! Those are gooooooood!
No lunch. Just grabbed some light snacks in the CL lounge back at WL before heading back to MK to meet Anna and Elsa about 2:30.
Tonight, it's the creme de la creme--Chef's Table at Victoria & Albert's, and we are starving selves for that. Some 10 courses displaying the chef's creativity and skills over easily a four-hour span.
Yes, we expect to waddle home to WL with blissful smiles on faces and tons of photos to share the meal with all of you.
As a result, I'll likely do another capsule review and then must take a break until our return home shortly before December 1 because we're driving up to New Jersey for Thanksgiving with Drew's family.
So, thanks for following along thus far, and will hope to see your reactions once we can begin adding detailed reviews and incorporating our many food photos (and honeymoon suite bathtub ones! ) into this encyclopedia of Disney delights.
TBC a time or two and then weeklong delay until we're home again.
Brief bye-bye for now with Disney magic wishes for a blissful Thanksgiving. I'm sure everyone will agree, even our international members who don't celebrate the U.S. holiday, that all of us able to enjoy Disney vacations have much indeed for which to be thankful.

Update: On the Boat Ready To Sail Away To Meet Anna & Elsa!
Here we go for our very last FP, the meetup EVERYbody but me is dying to have--Anna & Elsa, of course.
But, yanno what? i'm feeling that Disney magic and honestly pretty excited about meeting them
Swinging around to the dock, so here we go!
We got a cherry red hard-sided wheeled suitcase to haul home all our Disney loot. It's really cute with a picture of Mickey all scrunched as if a stowaway home with us. We'll take him! Wouldn't you?

I'll pass those hints on to DH about goodies to bring Piglet, although I doubt very much that he'll ever need those. In case you don't know, he can't stand Piglet and there is a very famous incident from nearly 10 years ago when he took his knife and fork to Piglet's arm, declaring he was helping himself to bacon.

Oh, nooooooo! That is just too funny, and no, I didn't know.
We must never EVER get our respective "spice" together, Cheryl. What with Drew's being a terrible smarta$$ and punster, you and I would never get a moment's peace and calm. He LIKES the Jungle Cruise primarily for its groaner jokes. What does that tell you???
(I must admit it takes me a monumental willing suspension of hatred to enjoy the Disney perversions of Milne's immortal characters, the Pooh series being favorites of mine since I was quite young.
I won't get started either on what an abomination Disney made of Mary Poppins even though the movie has charm in its own right.)

Update: In Which Two Foodies Experience the Penultimate In WDW Dining
And they ate a 10-course dinner at Victoria & Albert's Chef's Table and lived VERY happily ever after, having had proof that foodie dreams really do come true...
Lots of photos and detailed descriptions of each course in the full review: Coming Soon To a Message Board Near You.

Glad to know that the V&A experience was wonderful-- not that I doubted it would be! I'm with you on the Disneyfied versions of the Winnie the Pooh books, Mary Poppins and Peter Pan. I grew up reciting the poems from the Milne books: Tiddledy-Pom, James James Morrison Morrison, and Mary Jane... sigh.
Have a wonderful time with family over Thanksgiving!
