Escaping The Brutal Northeast For Sunny, Warm Florida and Fun! Completed 7/12 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You FP selections look great. I like how you have them spaced. We just made our first selections as our trip is 60 days out. I think we've now got the hang of it with modifying times! Still tweaking them though!

It was a bit getting used to and with my golf reservations (on three of the days) made it a bit trickier overall. You'll see, with my TR how these pan out!
It was interesting to find out later that you can make other Fastpass+ ressies at the Kiosks, even with your three ressies already booked online for a particular park!

Whew - looks like a lot of work, but now it will be easy to modify FP as needed.
It is some work, but part of trip planning! As with Disney, they update, moderate and change things to hope make things easier for their guests as well as keeping up with the latest technology! Just takes a little bit getting used to and then all is well!

Well today, I did some more planning of ADRs. These are my lunch ADRs. These could change a bit as I’m not 100% positive, I can get these in with my schedule.
Lunch ADRs
Tuesday, April 1: San Angel Inn (Epcot-Mexico) 12 pm.
I’ve been trying to squeeze this one in on my trip as the first ADR, I made for this eatery, I changed to Teppan Edo as I thought it may not be the best idea to have Mexican food, just before flying home. This ADR may be tough as I also have an ADR at Victoria & Albert’s later this day at 5:30 pm. I can squeeze it in, but don’t want to be too full some four hours later (after finishing my meal at San Angel). So this one, I may cancel altogether eventually!
Thursday, April 3: Plaza Restaurant (Magic Kingdom) 1:55 pm.
I’ve never ate here, but always wanted to. Was hoping for an ADR between 12-1 pm, but no such luck yet. Will keep checking. The other option is Liberty Tree Tavern as that’s always been on my list and have yet to dine there as well!
Sunday, February 2
Made a call to Disney World Resort Reservations and put in my room requests for Port Orleans Riverside. I’ve done this on some previous trips and sometimes I’ve gotten, what I wanted on certain occasions and other times not. I’ve stayed in Riverside on two previous occasions and both times I was in Magnolia Bend. Although, I liked this section, I still wanted to stay in one of the Alligator Bayou buildings. I requested buildings 14, 15, 18 or 35 as they are the closest to Boatwright’s and registration. The CM put my requests in for me.
While I was talking with the CM, she said they didn’t have my Magical Express details on file. That’s funny as I have the booklet, which contains all of these details! So, I gave them to her. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Anyone else ever have this experience?
Later, I cancelled my Plaza Restaurant lunch ADR on April 3rd to:
April 3: Liberty Tree Tavern (Magic Kingdom) 12 pm.
I think this will workout much better with the timing of my Fastpass+ ressies! It will also be easier to do some park hopping on my final full day in Disney!
I also changed my Victoria & Albert’s ADR as well, even though it says different previously in my ADR itinerary. I originally had an ADR in the main dining room at 6 pm and not Queen Victoria’s room at 5:30 pm. So the previous one listed for my ADRs is correct. Forgot to mention this in the beginning!
Here's my revised and complete list of ADRs:
Saturday, March 29: Monsieur Paul’s (Epcot-France) 6:30 pm
Sunday, March 30: Be Our Guest (Magic Kingdom) 7:30 pm
Monday, March 31: California Grill (Contemporary Resort 7:45 pm.
Tuesday, April 1: Victoria & Albert’s-Queen Victoria’s Room (Grand Floridian Resort).
Wednesday, April 2: Paradiso 37 (Downtown Disney-Pleasure Island), 7:15 pm.
April 3: Liberty Tree Tavern (Magic Kingdom) 12 pm.
Thursday, April 3: Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge-Jambo House), 7:30 pm.
Friday, April 4: Teppan Edo (Epcot: World Showcase, Japan), 12:30 pm.
Sunday, February 16
Decided to cancel my April 1st lunch at San Angel Inn for 12 pm as I thought, I may be too full having such a big meal at Victoria & Albert’s at 5:30 pm. It would also give me some more park time in Epcot.
Wednesday, February 27
Received an email from Disney that my Magic Band has shipped! Getting closer now, with my trip just over a month away!
Monday, March 3
I came home from work and found a box by my door from Disney. Yes it is my Magic Band! So now I was pretty much set for my trip with the exception of my packing! I never took a photo of my Magic Band, so I guess we’ll all have to do without one as we all know what they look like. Mine is blue with SuperDave on it.
Thursday, March 7
Received an email from Disney World Golf, that my tee time on Wednesday, April 2 has been changed from 10:04 am on the Lake Buena Vista course to 9:56 am. No big deal! They do some of this adjusting to fill the slots better.
Sunday, March 9
Worked on my packing list for my trip, by adding/deleting items. I do this prior to every trip and seems to work out well. Took about an hour to make these changes and then just save and print out a hard copy of it. It is broken down into sections: Clothing, Bath Stuff, Golf Bag Items, Wallet Items, Other Things and Last Minute Items.
So all seems pretty well set for my trip!

You've left us with a cliffhanger.
I love my ADRs and did a good job with getting what I wanted! You'll have to wait to find out!

Great ADRs. I have always enjoyed San Angel Inn but I agree with V&A at 5:30 I would rather go there hungry
You can always grab a small snack to tide you over until dinner.
Glad you like the ADRs and that's always a good idea, when dining at a place as good as V&A's!
