The Many Adventures of the Ayers' Family PTR! - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

First off is my orthodontist appointment. I have these once a month, so this is nothing new. It's just helping in the countdown.
Second is the new oral surgeon appointment. I've had to change my oral surgeons, so this will be my first time meeting the new one.
Last new addition is Chey's open house for her new classes.

Also an update on my DMiL. She and my husband had a falling out over the weekend so her joining us is once again up in the air. I'm really hoping that they can settle their differences before we leave for Disney.

I hope they get past whatever is going on too, so you guys can enjoy a nice vacation together!
I need to find some type of countdown to help move time along. The girls and their busy schedule is helping mostly, but it is still not moving fast enough for me!!! Work is awful, so I am so ready for this vacation!

Me too! They are both stubborn and hardheaded, so then they have differences..it's the end of the world. I just want to bang their heads together so they find some sense LOL

Just signed on to your TR! We're arriving at Disney right after you leave for home. It's such a nice time of the year to visit and I'm sure you MIL will have a great time with you all! We bought into the DVC last December after going to Disney since 1982 and feel it was a great decision! Countdown ticker is getting closer!

Welcome aboard! This will be out trial run at DVC. We rented points this year but we will be making a decision on whether or not we will be buying in during this trip. Our kids are getting older, so that really sways some of our decision...I keep telling my husband that we can go without the kids and then start taking our grandkids in the future!

PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Hope everything works out between your MIL and yout DH before the trip, this way everyone can just enjoy a relaxing vacation.
We bought into DVC in 2011, my youngest was 11 but was the best decision ever (wish I had done it sooner), my oldest is 21 now and even she still loves to go and I guess one day it will be with the grandchildren....LOL, until then maybe I can get some adult trips in there
DH and DMil haven't spoken since last weekend and I told him that he has 51 days to get it together or I am leaving them both at home. I'll invite DMil to dinner over the weekend and hopefully they will work it out. Those two are NOT going to ruin my vacation!
With time winding down, I've contacted my pet sitter so arrange for her to come and visit my love bugs while we are gone. We have REALLY big dogs, so finding anyone willing to watch them was a task. We finally found Janet about 5 years ago and she's been watching after our babies since. Since our old man, Hemi, passed away last November, we got a puppy (who's now 9 months old). Nismo is 2 years old and Busa is 9 months. Janet will come by and visit him in September so he can sniff her and become friends. Janet is really good with big dogs so I know he'll love her bunches. Pics of my love bugs are attached at the bottom. We also have 2 cats, 3 fish, and 2 geckos....We are a farm apparently.
Anyway, on with the countdown:
Labor Day - 09/01 (3 days)
Sept Othordontist Appt - 09/04 (6 days)
DH's Birthday - 09/14 (16 days)
New Oral Surgeon Appt - 09/18 (20 days)
DMom's Birthday - 10/07 (39 days)
Our wedding anniversary - 10/14 (46 days)
Disney Packing Day! - 10/17 (49 days)
South Carolina State Fair Day! - 10/18 (50 days)
Disney!! - 10/19 (51 days)
So close!!

Glad you have someone to come check on your kiddos.
We have a dog, two cats and a chinchilla. We did have two fish and 2 birds, but in the past year have lost those. We were a farm too!
We are so close!!!
I am in a dilemma over our resort and unsure what to do. Back when my dad was fired we had to dump POFQ and really wanted POR, my TA told me no, we couldn't book it due to 5 of us and the girls being 13 & 14 that Disney has a rule now and won't book anyone over 10 for the 5th person. When the AP & FL rates came out this past week, I double checked with her again and she still said she wouldn't do it. The website will let me, my dad chatted with a CM on the website and she said we could, another friend that is a TA called and was told we could and a friend that formally worked at Disney call center just told me that we sure could have booked it. Madalyn is the size of a 9 or 10 year old and would fit on the murphy bed and not break it. Now all the rooms are taken for the AP/FL discount so we are out of luck. I am so upset as PO is my dream resort and had our hearts set on staying there and now that it looks like we should have been able to book it I am just heart broken. I don't know how to handle the situation!

I would be upset too. We've stayed at PO and loved it. The grounds and the rooms are all lovely. My advice would be to not fret on it and just go with what you have now. You could add it to your bucket list and make sure the next time to book it. Try not to worry about it so much as it will cause you unnecessary anxiety and worry. The girls will be happy to just be a Disney World! I know my kids would be happy sleeping in the car as long as I took them to Disney World LOL!

Hope the tensions ease between DH and DMIL. So great to have a dog sitter. I've been lucky and the girl across the street has been able to watch my old babies. They don't require much exercise - just some snuggles. She is great and so much cheaper than the kennel. She has also watched our Hermit crab. I apparently have the only Hermit crab in history to survive longer than 5 days after purchase. We are coming up on 1 year.
