So Many Celebrations! A June 2013 trip report - Updated 11/6 -MK Day 2 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ohhh, why do kids always get sick on vacations? Yep, been there, done that. I'm glad you enjoyed Raglan Road though. I've only been twice but really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Hope it was a Happy Anniversary!
I wish we'd been able to have a more relaxing evening there, but DH and I agreed that it was better that DD7 got sick at the bus stop and not at Raglan Road!

It was a fairly tense evening, but I was so relieved that she was okay after that.

I would definitely go back there, maybe just to be able to eat the bread pudding at the table!

That's true; she slept in the living room on the fold-out chair. No floor for her at OKW!

Fortunately, neither girl seemed all that upset about missing Jedi Training!

We'd been wanting to go there for years, and I can't wait to get back there!
We were up bright & early so we could make it to MK for am EMH. It would be our first time taking the bus from OKW, so we wanted to allow plenty of time for waiting around. We were at the Peninsular Road bus stop, which was only a few steps from our front door, by 7:20.
When we first got on the bus, it seemed like the bus driver wasn’t the friendly type, so I was completely surprised when, after he got DS’s chair strapped down, he asked DD7 if she wanted to help him put up the bus ramp!
We arrived at 7:56 and made our way into the Magic Kingdom for the first time this trip. I sent DH and the girls in the no-bag line and instructed them to head to Peter Pan and we would meet them there. (Most of the attractions with the moving walkway, like Buzz Lightyear or Haunted Mansion, can accommodate special needs guests by slowing down and/or stopping the walkway, but for some reason, PP doesn’t do this.) When DS and I got back to Fantasyland, we could see that the rest of our family was still waiting in a very long line, so I knew that we had time to do some exploring. I’d heard a lot about the new Rapunzel restroom area, and seen a few photos, but I wanted to check it out for myself. Sadly, I’d forgotten my camera, so I had to use my phone to take 35 photos of this wonderful area! I was completely geeking out, because I adored all the details and the obvious love that the designers had for one of my favorite Disney movies.
One of the CMs saw me going a little overboard with the photos, and approached me, asking if I knew that there were Hidden Pasquales all around the area. That made me love this area even more, and I asked her if she could point out where they were, so I could find them for myself. She was more than happy to do so, and I was still walking around, exploring the area when DH and the girls wandered over after their ride over London. Can you find Pasquale?
We gave the CM an appreciation card for helping spread the Disney magic. I can’t remember her name, but she was from Australia, and she said the card made her day! She told us to be sure to come back in the evening; she said that the lanterns are beautiful!
Suddenly, we spotted Peter Pan and Wendy in the alcove next to the attraction. The line wasn’t very long, but even if it had been, we still would have waited. DD13 LOVES Peter Pan! I wish I would have thought to record our conversation with them, because Peter was so funny and just spot-on. DD7 kept asking him if he had a bubble machine, and of course, he didn’t know what that meant, but kept trying to get her to explain it. She told him that he could buy one, and that led to a discussion of the fact that he didn’t have any money, to which she responded that he could use a credit card. He didn’t know what that was, either, and Wendy informed us that if he wanted a credit card, he would have to have a job, which meant that he would need to grow up, and that clearly wasn’t going to happen. The interaction was just priceless, and it really started off the morning in a really magical way!
Next, the girls rode the Carousel,
Then we headed over towards Winnie the Pooh. We usually just go directly to the handicapped-accessible entrance, but this time, we were asked for our GAC. No problem, we showed it, and we were off riding through the Hundred Acre Woods in no time. DH took the girls on Dumbo next, while I gave DS a drink in the shade near the doors to Big Top Souvenirs.
After that, I took the girls on Barnstormer
Then they rode the Teacups with DH.
We were wandering back toward “old” Fantasyland when we saw a commotion next to the Carousel. There was a group of performers dressed in Renaissance clothing standing near the Sword in the Stone. It was very hot and sunny out, even though it wasn’t even 10:00 yet, and we started to pass right by. DD7 whined about how hot it was, but it was something we had never seen before, so we stopped. I won’t ruin it for those who’ve never seen it before, but there’s a little skit, and eventually, a child is selected from the audience. If you’ve read this far into the TR, you can probably imagine who jumped up and down and was eventually chosen to pull the sword from the stone!
She was crowned the Hero of Fantasyland, and let me tell you, she talked about that for days! When the show was over, the troupe continued on into the courtyard and played some games with the children. DD7 got to take her picture with the troupe and had them sign her autograph book.
It was great fun, even though it was so hot. It goes to show that there is more to Walt Disney World than rides.
We headed to Philharmagic to cool off, and then decided to see if we could get in to Be Our Guest Restaurant for lunch. We’d had an ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern, but I’d cancelled it the night before. As much as we love it, we have been there before. We hadn’t eaten at BoG and it was really important to us to make it there on on this trip. I wanted to give it a try on Thursday, so that we still had two other days in case we couldn’t get in, instead of waiting until Friday like I’d originally planned.
We got into line at around 10:30, and it wasn’t terribly long at this point. I told DH that I could stay with DS while he took the girls on something nearby, but he said he’d rather wait with DS. I checked the wait time for Little Mermaid, and it must not have been very long, because we decided that we probably had time to ride it before DH made it up to the front doors of the restaurant.
DD7 was so excited to be given the red card that helps the CMs determine accurate wait times. We waited about 10 minutes, and enjoyed the girls’ first ride on this new attraction. (DH and I had ridden it at DCA.) As we were walking back towards BoG, DH called and said they’d made it to the bridge.
Up next: lunch at Be Our Guest!

I am so excited to see that they still do a Sword in the Stone ceremony? Is this a regular show or does it just happen at random times? I love the show back when Merlin did it. They had a schedule for it and there were a few showings per day. The interaction with Peter Pan and Wendy sounds just perfect.
Now that's what I call a great start to the day! I love the detail in the Rapunzel restroom area and I can't wait to see that for myself. Am I the only one who thinks it's lovely they put that much detail in, but it's a shame it's only for a restroom? I'd have loved to have seen a shop, attraction or restaurant in there too....
Can't wait to read more about your trip!!! Great TR!!!!!!!!!! We leave in 36 days to take our girls (12 & 8) for their FIRST trip ever!!! Your report is making me even MORE excited!!!!!!
Just signing in! Sounds like you all are having a great time!
so excited for you that you are going into BoG!!! That has become one of our new FAVORITES!!!

Great start! You've had some great magic happen already and it's not even lunch time yet. On Barnstormer, I just love that- first aid, second aid. Aren't those Rapunzel bathrooms cool? Inside the ladies room was pretty neat too. Knick knacks around the ceiling and other cute decor too. Looking forward to your lunch!

I really don't know if it's scheduled; this was just before 10:00 on a Thursday morning. Peter Pan was a hoot!

Maybe they will someday; I think Tangled will definitely stand the test of time.
