"Yes, The Past Can Hurt, But You Can Either Run From It or You Can Learn From It" - PTR - COMPLETED 9/20 #184 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to try it on and see how they work. I plan on buying a few MagicBandits once we arrive in the bubble. I told my DH I really like the ones that represent each of the four theme parks.
I thought it would be cool to wear the one we're visiting for the day. I also just looked at the calender today and I can't believe tomorow will be my 30 day mark

This past week has been crazy at work for me. Back in June, the company I work for dismissed the person who was running our accounts payable department because of attendance issues. So, during that time, another office manager and myself started helping out to keep everything running smooth and on time. I know for most everyone out there we all have our average monthly bills such as utilities and credit cards, loans, but just imagine trying to keep track of fourteen locations and each one has on average 40 to 50 invoices each month. My job is to open the mail, sort each invoice, scan to the other area's office manager and keep track of who has them by manually entering each one on a general spread sheet. Then I have to wait for them to be coded and signed off by the approver project manager and finally I can submit it to the Accounts Payable officer to be placed in the accounting system. This can take up a large part of my day, so it does make the time go by fast.
Well, I needed to get some things done before I head off on vacation and I’m slowly pecking away at it. This summer I’ve been wearing summer dresses for the most part which I found very comfortable and I’m bringing a few with me, but I wanted to wear some shorts too while I’m there. So, I was able to snag some three pairs of Croft &Barrow cargo shorts that were on summer clearance at Kohl’s, my favorite clothing store, for around 13.00 each. DH is in the process of ordering me two front tires for my car, and I made my reservations through AAA for our hotels for our overnight stay for both going down and coming back.
I also manage to find some time this week to pamper myself. I was able to make an appointment during the week with Massage Envy and went for a very over do facial and" get the stress out of my back muscles" massage. On my way there I notice I had some time before my appointment, so I decided to stop in at the motor vehicle department to pick up my son’s handicap placards. I just made it, as they were getting ready to shut the doors, once inside my wait time was brief and it only took me about twenty minutes to receive them and then I was on my way to the spa. Once I was there, Leslie my esthetician, takes one look at my skin and tells me she is going to give me the anti-aging facial treatment. It was wonderful and my skin looks and feels so much better.
Then when I got home, Will tells me that I have some mail in his rather plain tone, while trying to hold back a smile. He already knew what was coming next… Yes there she goes again the crazy person jumping up and down and dancing around the room. I’m pretty sure you can take a wild guess of what came in the mail that day. If not here’s a picture of the contents:
"MICKEY MAIL" !!!!
There is still a lot to do before we go and even though we’re now 30 days away, it always seems like this is where time really starts to fly and I wonder If I’ll get everything done on time before it’s time to go.

Note to self..."You might need ADR intervention" Part 1
My husband thinks it’s funny how I keep changing the Disney Itinerary and keeps wondering how many more changes will take place before we are there. I told him planning is an ongoing process and to go with the flow….lol
So with that, I decided to go back to see what I had originally planned at the beginning of my PTR to see what real changes have been made and hopefully for the better. Back on 5/26 I wrote the following in regards to DDP and where we would be eating: “I also thought it would be fun going to different character breakfast each day. We had breakfast at Crystal Place, Play and Dine, Chef Mickey's and Tusker House. I later found out that Joshua hated going to a different restaurant each day, so this time around we’re only going to be eating at Chef Mickey’s and the Crystal Place (his two favorite) and we changed our time to the early 7:30 am seating for Chef Mickey's and 8:40 for CP. we should be able to finish early enough so that we can head into the parks before it gets too crowded. “
Well over the months, quite a few changes came up that required some ADR changes. Two months later I ended up scheduling the HDDR, which takes two dining credits, so I had to delete two morning ADR’s, which wasn’t a bad idea since it would give a chance to sleep in for two days. At the beginning, I was able to make reservations for breakfast at O’hana on our departure day. This is one that I have wanting to go and tried to on our last vacation, but was unable to due to Joshua having a meltdown that morning at the resort, causing us to miss our appointment. Then I wasn’t sure if we would be able to attend an ADR breakfast on our last day there, since we want to get an early start on our drive home. I was pleasantly surprise, when I found an opening for O’hanas on Friday morning, which I quickly scheduled. This one is new for all of us and I’m hoping we’ll be able to dine there this time around. So, I replaced Friday’s CM with O’hana. At this point I still have to decide on which second morning ADR to delete from our plans.
As I’m going through these changes, I still have on schedule Chef Mickey’s for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, with CP for Wednesday and O’hana for Friday.
Now you might think this would be it for my ADR changes…but no not yet. Next thing my husband knows, I’m canceling Monday’s CM and replacing it with an early ADR at Tusker House. Now all that’s left is our ADR at Chef Mickey, will he even have a chance? Will we dine there on either Tuesday or Thursday? Stay tune…..
