The "Okay-Let's-Get-This-Thing-Done-Before-The-Next-Trip-Starts-TR" - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks for the DOI interlude. Jason looks like he enjoyed it a lot!
A nice, laid back stroll around the lake sounds like a vacation to me. And fruit and cheese make for a nice healthy dinner ... No, Linny! You can't give wine to the kids!!! Now, THAT would be "Bad Parenting"!!!

Great pictures from Disney on Ice, I love the one of Jason watching the show, he just looks so happy!
I can't believe you had such a hard time finding some grub on the Boardwalk! We saw that guy with that wierd whistle after we had dinner at Kouzzina in 2010, he was just as annoying back then
Looking forward to hearing about MK RD, since I missed it AGAIN this year
Glad you had fun at Disney on Ice! Love all of your drawings of Agent P! And it looks like you had fun with the entertainment on the Boardwalk, even if you starved your kids in the process! Don't worry, they won't remember being hungry! I am unreasonably excited about MK rope drop! Of course, I realize that I'll probably have to wait 3 weeks to hear about it.

Disney on Ice is a perfect way to get psyched about planning your next trip! Thanks for sharing the pics!
In all our years of WDW visits, we've never strolled the Boardwalk. Looks like fun, but somehow it's never in the cards... probably because we haven't stayed at an Epcot area resort. We'll make it there one of these days!
Fruit and cheese don't sound so bad to me. We've done the old grab-something-in-the-resort-gift-shop thing ourselves. Sometimes it's nice to avoid two hours in a restaurant... and the mega-check! Wait until your kids are Disney "adults"... those dinner checks are painful!!!
We have seen both of those performers and yes, the squeaky guy is a bit annoying!! Bummer about the food selection, but like everyone else said, as long as the kids were happy with what they had, no biggie! It happens sometimes!
Did you go to disney on ice in Philly? We have to go next year, its been a while.
I am curious, when you take the boys out of school for a trip, do you have to submit a letter requesting that the absence be excused in New Jersey?

The entertainers at BWI can definitely be a distraction even when hungry. Morgan had to stop for everyone, every night last June. Sorry about the limited food options.
I'm glad we walked over there. We seemed to time it pretty well, and now we'll make it part of our future trips. Maybe we'll just feed the boys first.

hey - no such thing as bad parenting in Disney! Been there, done that! And look at that - your kids were in bed early!!! Who cares what they ate! LOL! I once let Emily have a pixie stick for breakfast!! of course, Scott wasn't with us!!
But seriously- that actually sounds like a great evening to just walk around Crescent Lake taking in the sights!
I know, not bad right?? I might even do another before the week is up...might
Disney is the only place I think you can get away with letting them eat what they want.

YES, YES, thanks again for sending the lounge food pics, minus all the olives I'm looking forward to it.
I am shocked that you guys have never strolled around the Boardwalk side before though, even in our less than 24 hr stay at BC, we did.....twice. However we didn't have park tickets so that would be why
Glad you had a nice well balanced meal for the boys, fruit and cheese......sounds good to me, with a bottle of wine
Ooops Sorry, but I don't think I gave away too much. I know Josie will love it!
Yeah, I know...but I do love an olive
I'm glad we walked over there. It's happenin' But, maybe next time we don't go over on LSU/Bama night and we can feed the boys

I'm sure they would have made sure there was something for Jason. I just always feel bad asking for them to go out of their way. Especially because it was an upgrade. And he's also allergic to beef, so no hot dogs either

I love the next update! Will there be more songs?
That update teaser was for you Kelly I'll try to work some more in there.
And Craig had ice cream some nights for dinner so I guess it's all good.

If the boys are into the lizards you should try coming over to Ft W place is loaded with them
I'd like to get over there some day. Especially once the boys are old enough to horseback ride, the lizards would be a bonus!

They're just a bit more restricted than most kids with their allergies, but hey, where else can they get to choose what they want for dinner every night but vacation at Disney

Happy late birthday!! Jason loves Jake too. We had to talk him out of spending all ofhis money on the Jake pirate ship at Disney. It's a third of the price at Target.
You'd think Craig would be a little mor knowledgeable just living with me.
The Disney on Ice pictures look great! I asked my boys if they wanted to go, but they said no... it looked to girly. I don't think so, but I think my husband said something about it having princesses in it and they wanted nothing to do with it. Sigh.
Your entertainment at Boardwalk sounds entertaining!
Oh yeah - and I forgot to mention..............you're getting me in trouble with this last update...........Emily has been BEGGING to go to Disney On Ice!!! Sigh..........might have to check schedule..........

But it's a loooong walk with hungry kids. Although, it certainly made getting them to bed easier.

He loved his present. And I was glad it was so close to his birthday so it really felt part of the celebration. I won't stay for annoying duck/whistle guy again, but the other was really good! You have got to make MK RD next time!! It makes me tear up every single time and I'm bouncing up and down like a kid
Speaking of which, Love you new sig pic.

What food when you can watch a guy balance and juggle knives. Although when I see something like that I wonder if it's such a good idea to show my boys
Okay...throwing down the under 3 week challenge huh? Think that'll work?? It's not like I'm competitive or anything

The lack of having a trip planned is begining to make me nuts. Maybe I'll have to at least make some preliminary plans this weekend. Strolling the BW is just another reason for you guys to try an Epcot resort Oh, Tyler is a "disney adult" all 65 pounds of him. Although with Tyler we get our moneys worth. That kid can chow down. I think unless it's free when we go, not having the DDP worked out for us this trip.

We saw DOI at the Prudential Center in Newark. It's pretty new and a nice place to see it. We have a lot of students in our schools that go over seas for extended family trips. So, although it isn't "approved" we haven't gotten any pushback from the schools. I do tell the teachers before we go and if they don't give him his work before, they're all good about letting him make it up.

Jason LOVES his little self a princess. And although Tyler says it's girlie, he always ends up having a great time.

OHhhhh Dawn, had you been in the company of my Charlie (DD 15yrs) you would have ended up with your feet shoved into your ears. Charlie hates to go hungry. Thank goodness your boys are not like my grouch when her belly is asking for food. I have only seen Sesame St. on Ice, and have wanted to see Disney on Ice. I know the show came down about 2yrs ago, but I was unable to make it at the time. The birthday boy really seems to enjoy that show. Enjoying the TR, keep it coming Dawn.
