As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

After our ride on Dinosaur, everyone else went back to ride EE again while Maddie and I went to the dreaded Boneyard. I found a rock to sit on where I could watch her every move and let her go. She had a blast and I came out without being traumatized, so it was a win-win.
And this is what the rest of the gang did while Maddie and I hung out.
As we made our way to the safari, Maddie and I discovered a Photopass photographer who needed a little business.
I normally wouldn't post this picture of just me, but if you look closely over my left shoulder you will see that I'm not alone. The PP photographer made me stand there until the monkey appeared in the shot.
We had plans to meet the group at the safari, but when Maddie and I arrived the standby was at 60 minutes. I gave Thom a quick call and we agreed to bag the safari for the day since everyone was pretty much ready to head back to the Kardashian suite for a little down time before MNSSHP. We met them at the front of the park and hopped a bus back to the hotel.
No one really wanted a meal after our big brunch at Tusker House but everyone was ready for a snack so we stopped by the concourse shops at the Contemporary before heading back to our room. While Amy and her children were at the Contempo Café, Chuck had discovered the candy counter in the shop. Before he could pay, I told him to use snack credits instead. The problem was that they kept disappearing every time that the CM would try to swipe the room key. We finally figured out that Amy was using them at the same time that we were trying to use them. Chuck ended up paying cash for his snacks, but he was able to use my AP discount.
When we met up with Amy, she had quite a haul including a bottle of wine for us. Once back at the room, we unpacked our snacks and opened the bottle of wine. We spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening, sipping wine, snacking and watching another storm roll in.
Amy had her eye on the forecast and assured us that this latest patch of rain would move out before the party.
About 7 p.m., we started getting ready for the party. Out came the spiders, the webbing and the make up and Uncle Chuck started transforming all of us. We had such fun being spider bite victims two years ago and it was such an easy costume that we decided to do it again.
Once we were about as scary as we were going to get, we headed for the monorail. Walking would have been quicker, but the children wanted to scare people as we looped around the hotels. It apparently worked because not a single sole entered our car. Of course, Amanda made sure to stand in the doorway each time staring people down, so that may have had something to do with it.
As with two years ago, the CM’s got quite a kick out of our costumes as we made our way through the gates . . . and you immediately knew which CM’s were deathly afraid of spiders. Once through the gates, our first piece of business was to take a picture in front of the castle to make sure that we were captured at our scariest.
Next, we headed over to Tomorrowland where Chuck and Maddie took to the skies on TTA and the rest of us walked on SM. Our costumes made for some interesting ride photos. Amanda, Morgan, Jack and Morgan even went back for a second time before we met up with Chuck and Maddie and decided that it was time to eat.
Cosmic Ray’s was right around the corner, so we soon were enjoying our burgers and the sites around us. We spotted some of the best costumes of the night, a family of Scooby Doo characters, coming out of the bathroom at Cosmic Ray’s. We each gave each other the “great costume” thumbs up as they passed our table.
After the break, we went straight to the MNSSHP “must do”, HM, and then had our picture taken afterwards. Unfortunately, the PP photographer only took one picture and Mary Devall turned her head, but it still turned out to be good.
As soon as we finished with the picture, I looked up and saw a familiar face, Sharon! We chatted with her for a while before she took off to ride HM and we headed off for more fun. She looked so cute in her pumpkin hat!
Unfortunately, Morgan began not feeling well, so Amy stayed behind with her while the rest of us headed to BTMRR. Amy eventually called us to let us know that she was taking her back to the hotel.
We ended up riding BTMRR twice before we hit every candy stop in Frontierland and Adventureland. By the time we headed out of the park, it was almost midnight. Mary Devall spotted a big pumpkin hat in front of us, so she ran ahead to surprise Sharon. When the rest of us caught up with them, we chatted until she left us to catch her bus.
When we arrived back at the hotel, Morgan was feeling better and was even eating some of her candy. We stayed up until 2 a.m. talking, finishing the wine and watching the children trade candy. None of us had ever heard of peanut chews, so I finally tried one and liked it. For the next 10 minutes, I literally had a peanut chew thrown at my head every time someone found one in their bag. I came home with about 30 peanut chews, but never had another one because my family decided that they liked them once we returned home.
Great night at the party, I love those costumes!! Oooh, peanut chews, YUM!! I haven't had one of those since finding out my DD is allergic to peanuts, I miss them
You all look great in your makeup!! That's such a great idea, and I love the fact that you aren't weighed down with some bulky costume! Sounds like a great party!
