As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just found your TR.... I too have a very special Disney souvenir....he is now 7.. I have done WDW with my in-laws and it is a very unique trip every time. Trying to please everyone and yourself is very hard...having them around is wonderful for things like child swaps and helping with naps so I guess you just take the good with the bad. Glad that things seem to be going just fine with your recent trip and congrats with the souvenir....it is the best one you will ever take home with you
Great day/night at MK! Love all the character pictures! Glad Cam finally conked out on the Peoplemover!
Thanks. It was definitely a great day! The Peoplemover is wonderful.

I was really surprised by how well he did with the characters. Of course this is only day 1 with the characters. I make no promises for the rest of the trip.

In Cameron's world it is always a high five kind of day. I ask for a hug I get a high five. I'm really glad we ended up getting those SM pictures. I laugh every time I see them.

Hooray for the Peoplemover and getting Cam to sleep.
I'm glad he liked POTC, Jungle Cruise and Dole Whips -- you're definitely raising that boy right!
I'm glad you approve of my child rearing skills. Cam is definitely his mama's boy.

We had really good luck with wait times our whole trip. It made a world of difference as Cameron didn't really want to wait more than 10 minutes for anything. His patience is a little lacking.

Thanks. I will admit I rode the PeopleMover later in the trip and I too was a little drowsy.

Yippee for special Disney souvenirs! It was definitely different traveling with my in-laws, but then again it was different traveling with a small child too. It was really nice having the extra people to keep an eye on Cameron. And the trip went really well so I have very little to complain about. When we go back in 2 years I don't think my in-laws will be tagging along. We'll see how we do with 2 small children on that trip.
Just found your TR. Congratulations on your Disney souvenir!!! What an awesome gift !
If it's any consolation, I don't think I even remember my son's first ride at Disney : So, I think Cameron will definitely be okay with Living with the Land as his first.
I LOVE his haircut!!! What a cutie!!!! And it sounds like you had a awesome day at MK!
Can't wait to read more!
What a great day and night at MK!!! Cameron and Minnie are just too cute Glad the Peoplemover was able to put him to sleep. I've been known to nap on it myself!
Congratulations on your Disney souvie!!! So exciting!
It looks like you're having a great time. It's great Cam did such a great job with his haircut and the characters. I found the 1st haircut the easiest.

Thanks for reading! I probably won't remember that Cam's first ride was Living with the Land. And I'm sure Cameron doesn't remember it at all. Now the Nemo ride he remembers that. Talks about it all the time.

Cameron goes on and on about "Mimmie" these days. I think she outranks Mickey and the rest of the gang. Well except for maybe Donald.

Thank you! We did have a great time and I'm so proud of Cameron and how he did with his haircut. Are you telling me his next haircut is going to be more difficult? Maybe that can be DH's job.
Day 4 – Part 1 – There’s nothing like a roller coaster to start your day.
January 31st, 2012
Today we figured we had better get to the park close to opening as this park has the shortest hours. We ended up arriving shortly after 9 AM so that was good. We stopped for some PhotoPass pictures:
Once inside the park I noticed LARGE groups of teenage girls. With matching backpacks. Brazilian tour groups. At least I’m assuming they were from Brazil. And I have nothing against anyone from Brazil, but I will admit these tour groups proved to be a little difficult to deal with.
We decided that our first stop should be Expedition Everest as we were here early enough that we could maybe ride more than once. So we headed over and grabbed FastPasses. Then since the line was short we were going to ride. But the coffee I had that morning was telling me I needed to pee first so I went and stopped in the restroom. This gave the tour groups just enough time to make it to Expedition Everest. We started to head to the entrance to the ride and they just beat us. Well most of the group anyways. It wasn’t a big deal as the ride was pretty much a walk on, but what bothered me most was we were in line after the majority of the tour group and then after about a minute 5-10 girls started walking past us to meet up with their group. Now I’m not a line Nazi and if it is one maybe two people catching up to their group I do not have an issue, but when you’re 5+ people sorry you need to wait your turn! I just found that to be extremely rude.
Either way I think we only had to wait for 2-3 trains before it was our turn. This was Breanna’s first time on Expedition Everest and we had told her NOTHING about the coaster. Well we’re on the coaster and then it stops. I think Breanna saw that one coming as she had seen a video showing the broken track. Then it started moving backwards and that threw her for a loop! It was so fun to watch her level of excitement/shock by the coaster. I think it ended up being one of her favorites.
After Expedition Everest we decided to head over to Kilimanjaro Safari before the line got too long or it got too warm out for the animals. We ended up passing by the monkeys and stopped to look, but they were nowhere to be found. We ended up getting side tracked by the Maharajah Jungle Trek, which was ok as the safari wasn’t going anywhere. Everyone went in to see the bats, but I didn’t because it just freaks me out that the bats are not enclosed and just free to fly around you. Cameron seemed to enjoy watching them though:
There are pictures of the bats too, but I won’t be sharing them. Sorry. I’m a bat free type of girl. We caught a glimpse of the tigers:
Cameron spotted this guy all by himself:
We would have completely missed it if Cam hadn’t have pointed it out! We continued on and saw a lot more animals and a lot more beautiful scenery:
I will say I think Animal Kingdom is by far the prettiest park in Disney World. Once we finished the Trek we started back on our way to the safari. But then we got sidetracked by the baby ducks:
And then again by monkeys that were now out and being active:
After that we continued on, but stopped for PhotoPass photographers:
Then we were done with distractions and going to make it on to the safari. Until I spotted:
Devine is pretty cool. It’s hard to even notice she’s there at first. I think Nate missed her and was wondering what the crowds were watching. After that distraction we FINALLY made it to the safari! We saw all kinds of animals but I kind of think the giraffes were Cam’s favorite:
Seems like every time we go on the safari we get a good look at the giraffes. We also enjoy the elephants:
I think this might be a new breed of two headed cheetah:
After the safari we checked out the gorilla’s who were just chillin’
By this point we were all starving so we made a trip over to Yack & Yeti for lunch. Everyone really enjoyed the food here. Cameron loved the noodles and I think just about everyone fell in love with the banana pudding. I wish Nate and I had both gotten this pudding as it was so good, but no we got one pudding and one chocolate something or other.
I just love watching Devine. We saw her on our last trip and I almost passed by her until I noticed her "handler" randomly standing by a tree and I realized what was going on. You got some great animal photos.

How fun that Breanna was thrilled by EE! We just love that ride (well, "we" means DH and me -- the kids were a little freaked out!)
So cool that you saw Devine! I've never seen her, though I admit I haven't given myself a lot of opportunity since we usually don't even spend a full day at AK.
Great safari photos...the 2-headed cheetah cracked me up. And I'm envious of that gorilla -- I'd sure love to be chillin' like that right about now!
Love all your pictures! The two headed cheetah is pretty funny. Not looking like we were in the same park on any of our days. At least not so far! Great start to your day at AK!
Same thing happened to us while we waited in line for EE, but we ended up saying something. If you all can't wait together at that moment, then you should wait until you're group can. BTW, why are you a bat free girl? The bats are one of my favorite exhibits to check out.
