Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Finally jumping on board, I am so behind. Haven't even transferred any of my pics from my camera yet!!!

Thank you for all the pics so far, I would like to relive this past trip over and over. I really liked this year's festival (yes, they did add a TON of tables - way to go!!).

Sorry we didn't get to meet up, maybe next time. Now keep those food pics coming because I was too much of a piggy to take the time to snap any!! Ha ha!

More great F&WF offerings! Your pictures make them all look so ! I love all your pictures around Japan and Morocco. I'm going to have to do more photographing of the countries' pavilions. Dinner at Kouzzina's look very delicious! We're hoping to stay at BWV next June and this one is on my maybe list for dining.

I should not read your TR - especially at night, when I am hungry and everything looks so GOOD!!!

I am so enjoying your TR - loved your morning at the MK, glad that even with a few of the lands closed during EMH you were able to get so much done before heading out for more yummy food....

Jennie!!!! Glad you found me. I'm sorry too that we didn't get to meet - that rain on Saturday really threw the schedule for a loop. We started off at Epcot, then thought we'd be dryer at DHS, then ended up back at Epcot. Yeah, there was no staying dry! Can't wait to hear more about your trip as well.

I definitely recommend Kouzzina - especially if you're at BWV, so convenient!

Day 3, Part 1

We let ourselves sleep in a little later than the previous day. I was up first so I ran down to Boardwalk Bakery to get some cereal and yogurt for breakfast.

While I wanted to get to DHS early, I wasn’t concerned about being there right at rope drop. Actually, I kind of preferred to miss the crush of humanity that is the TSMM foot race . We headed out around 8:45 a.m. and started walking toward DHS at a leisurely pace. We passed a breakfast cruise from the Swolphin:

DH was quite intrigued by the pirate props along the waterway.

We tried zooming in to read the writing but we were too far away. Do they do kids’ pirate cruises from BC/YC? I’m thinking maybe these have something to do with that.

I got excited as I saw ToT looming in the distance. Almost there!

We got to DHS a little before 9:10 a.m. and as had become our routine, DH went through bag check while a poked around and took some pictures.

Once inside DH said he’d “fast walk” over to TSMM to get FPs so I could take my time. As you can see, the crowds weren’t too bad:

Although the line for FPs extended all the way back to One Man’s Dream:

I can’t remember what time we ended up with – I think 12:20 – 1:20 p.m.

With FPs in hand we headed up to the ToT/Rockin’ Rollercoaster area. ToT was showing a 10 (??) minute wait – what happened to 13??!

Since RNR already had a 20 minute wait, we decided to ride that first before the line got any longer.

In reality it was just a little longer than a walk-on – I think we only stood not moving for a couple of minutes before going into the pre-show. It’s been years since we’ve ridden this ride – I actually can’t even remember when the last time was. I think maybe in 2001. As we were getting ready to load, I noticed we had the last seat in the car. The guy in front of us said that’s a great place on a rollercoaster because you get more “whip.” Oh dear, I’m not sure I want more of that!

Before I knew it was were speeding off. I liked the start to the ride but then it got a little too rough for me. My head was feeling pretty shook up by the time it was over. Actually, I didn’t feel so good at all. I think that may be my final ride on RNR. DH felt the same although he said he’ll go on again when DD gets to the age that she begs to ride!

As we made our way over to ToT we noticed that the wait time had gone up to 40 minutes. What? Oh man, bummer. We weren’t eligible for a FP yet so we decided to bite the bullet and wait. I can’t remember how long the wait actually was, but I don’t think it was a whole 40 minutes. I passed the time in line texting Kim a mystery “what line am I in?” picture.

The CM that loaded us in the elevator was so awesome! Totally in character and just as the doors closed he said, “oh just one more thing….” {dead silence because the doors closed} – very cool timing!

The drop sequence was different than last time we went on (I know the Imagineers can change it at will). It was a series of shorter, choppier drops with only one really long drop. I prefer the long drops and I felt a little dizzy when we got off, which normally doesn’t happen to me on ToT. I’m chalking it up to my brain still being shaky from RNR!

I always enjoy checking out the ToT gift shop, although I rarely end up buying anything. I liked the bellhop ears!

A while back I had read about Writer’s Stop – and more specifically the carrot cake cookie – and really wanted to check it out so that was our next stop.

It’s tucked away next to Sci Fi and I can’t believe I’ve never noticed it before.

I had a momentary panic when I thought I didn’t see the carrot cake cookie in the case, but alas, it was there.

We found a table in the back and dug in.

Here’s a cross section:

Oh my, this was awesome! The cookie part was moist and tender and there was a TON of cream cheese frosting inside. We convinced ourselves that this was indeed a breakfast item – somewhere along the lines of a morning glory muffin. In reality it's an ANY time item, we just didn't want to feel guilty for having dessert for breakfast.

Here’s a view of the rest of the shop from our table.

They had lots of other good looking pastries and coffee drinks on the menu. This is definitely someplace we’d go back to!

Up next: More new things

Great update! I love that you're visiting places I've never been. You feel like you're an "expert" until you realize you've still only been to maybe 25% of the World.

Sorry you weren't a fan of RnRC or that day's Tot. I'm glad it didn't ruin the rest of your day for you - sometimes it takes hours to get your feet back under you.

I'm intrigued to know what that pirate stuff was as well on the way to the Studios. I don't ever recall seeing anything like that before.

Aw, sorry to turn you from RnRC. Part of the problem is I'm very short so the head rest hits me in a weird spot and I think that makes it hard to keep my noggin from bouncing around.

That's so true! DH and I were saying that we tend to go on "auto pilot" at the world so it was nice to have an organized plan to try new things.

It did take a while for my head to stop feeling like my brain was bouncing around like a pinball!

Hehe, and healthy too because of the carrots! I never noticed the pirate stuff either - I thought once we got home we'd be able to read the sign when we enlarged the photo on the computer but it's too pixilated.

I hope to be able to just run down to the Boardwalk Bakery on our next trip. hehe Great time at the studios! I love that they have the cars topiaries there. That cookie looked just wonderful! You went on the 2 rides I will never go on, been on TOT once that was enough and I don't do rollercoasters that go upside down. I remember you sending me the picture to guess which queue line you were in and I could not for the life of me figure it out at all. LOL Glad you had so much fun. We will have to check out the Writer's Shop since I had know idea they had pastries, we still have not gone to Starring Rolls either.
